Decided to stop by for dinner and the food was amazing the ambient was great and our waiter Sobrino I believe his name was, was so friendly and very tentative to us. Great place!

We stopped here for lunch while visiting a friend in the city. We were a little apprehensive as it was pretty close to empty at lunch time on a Friday. We were pleasantly surprised by our entire experience. We were a party of 5, three adults and two kids… we ordered off the lunch menu. The adults each ordered 2 rolls and the kids each ordered one roll. Everything was amazingly delicious. The kids each ordered the California Maki Roll and they pretty much housed their rolls in record time. Thinking about it now, I probably should have ordered three rolls for them to share. The adults ordered a variety of rolls off the lunch menu. I know I had the Rock n Roll and the Mellow Yellow Roll. They were so yummy, I am wondering if I convince my family to go back there today. I cannot remember all the rolls the other two adults ordered but I know one of them ordered the Sexy Mexican and the other adult ordered the Crunchy Maki. Everything was delicious. Not only was our food incredibly tasty, it was fairly inexpensive. 5 people, sushi and drinks(nonalcoholic) for around 40 bucks. I am sure we will eat here again the next time we visit the city… actually, I am thinking we may have to take a special trip to the city just to dine here again.

Excellent! I’ve both eaten here(on the patio) and received delivery several times. I haven’t tried anything super complicated, but their rolls and service are good, and the delivery came much sooner than I was told on the phone. Certainly recommend.

The cherry blossom to start was delish! So much avocado and being from California, I love that! The rolls were a good size and tasty. We had the mellow yellow and salmon delight. Good sushi. The spider man roll was not our favorite. Not much taste going on there. Server was very nice and the ambiance and décor was pretty cool.

Really good service, v. nice atmosphere, cute presentation, extremely uneven food. East asian fusion place in the old Oysy location. Went Monday night around 7 and were seated immediately. My partner commented that the owner must be a front-of-the-house kind of manager; that part was extremely attended to, even curated. Some presentations are so elaborate as to verge on precious, for example, the Wild Mushroom Hot & Sour Soup was served in a blue-and-white porcelain tureen that included a candle warmer(I blew it out — the soup was too hot to eat as it was). Also, really cute ceramic soy sauce cruet rather than plastic-topped bottles on the table, and lovely glass tea set. Service was lovely: gracious and attentive without being overbearing or cloying. The food needs more attention: miso soup was bland, as were the maki/rolls. The seaweed salad came served atop lettuce salad, which was quirky, though not unpleasant. I might go back; the cost wasn’t too high and the setting very nice, though we left somewhat unsatisfied with our meal. Would like to try the Wild Mushroom Ramen, since the mushroom soup was the best thing we got.

Fantastic. All around great sushi bar. Great food, great atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had a nice quiet dinner, great staff and just incredible food. I had the bagel roll, lemon pepper sashimi, kani, spring rolls and was made a special dish by the chef: fried white fish with hot mayo. And it was all incredible and the staff as very attentive. I will absolutely be going back whenever I am in Chicago and will be recommending this to anyone I can! If you love sushi and want a relaxing calm atmosphere this is your place.

I love sashimi but my tuna and salmon were frozen. The eel was good, but was severely disappointed with the frozen sashimi. Also tried the spicy miso ramen and that was better than expected. Service was good, but go somewhere else for good Japanese food.

A destination for its Dan Dan noodlea! Sushi rolls are on par with your average neighborhood sushi place.

One of my favorite restaurants. My son and I visit at least once a month. The food is always great(Love the Ramen bowls for lunch) and the service has been impeccable! They don’t ever seem to have an off night, the food is consistant.

Niu B has creative rolls and very fast service. I visited during lunch time and was in and out in half an hour. My server was pleasant but what they lacked in warmth they certainly made up for in efficiency. The lunch menu reasonably priced and the rolls are good value for money.

Oh thank you for the lovely pot of green tea. And a pretty good chirashi as well. Very fresh fish over good rice. Would have just liked a little more rice and could have been a bit more moist. Dining partners had a nice selection of rolls they all looked really good. And started with a hearty miso soup, again very good but would have liked a bit more. And then the tea — a lovely little pot with fresh leaves; not a teabag in site. Well done! A quiet and rainy Tuesday night so no crowd at all. Very friendly service, quick and courteous. All in all pretty good sushi on Michigan and away from the the usual places

Really great meal, unexpectedly good. My daughter and I ate here as a carb loading meal before the Chicago marathon. We started out with the mellow yellow roll which was very fresh and a large portion for $ 14. It had mango on top but was not too sweet which I appreciated. Chicken gyozas were pretty standard but still good. My daughter had the chicken fried rice for $ 12. It was a huge portion and freshly prepared without too much sauce which was nice. I had the spicy soy ramen for $ 13. It was very good. Not the best ramen I’ve eaten but very solid. The pork was flavorful, the broth was good but I would have preferred more of it and the noodles were just fine. Prices were very acceptable for the generous portions. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I went here Wednesday night after the gym right down the street! We both have been here numerous times. I myself used to visit Oysie(sp) before they left! Last night left a wonderful taste in my mouth and stomach. From the drink the PLT6 which was FANTASTIC… to the Gyoza to the Lyechee Tea Smoked Duck Breast to the rolls we each had. I was compelled to write a review. The server was also very patient and attentive. PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE continue to keep up the great work. Hopefully they will stick around a lot longer than its predecessor… The ONLY reason I did not give a 5 is because I have not tried a majority of the menu yet! :-)

I ordered the dragon roll; the rolls had non-uniform size but most were decently large and all were filled properly. If you’re looking for dessert, I recommend the lychee sorbet, which had good texture and tasted very good. The sorbet also contained jello bits and mango purée, which added a nice touch.

I loved the service here. This is my first time here since I’m visiting from New York. The sushi was really good. We got the Ume and California roll and the rice was really soft. The sushi itself was fresh as well. We also got the seaweed salad and it was really good. I didn’t expect that there was going to be green salad on the salad lol. because every time I eat seaweed salad, it doesn’t come with cucumbers or tomato. Overall the salad was really good. My cousins shared the tonkatsu Ramen and they said the Ramen was good. I myself, got the spicy miso Ramen and it was really delicious. It wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be. The Ramen was really good and everything else tasted delicious. They also give u a candle on the table so It made the restaurant feel really fancy. I would come here again. When I revisit Chicago.

Holy Smokes! Their wasabi is the real deal! The miso soup was delicious and I loved their salmon roll. The cold water is served in a thin clean glass with a thin fresh cucumber slice. I was far too ambitious with the wasabi and almost broke down into tears! The ambiance is wonderful — wood, fire candles, dim lighting, and calm music. I would love to come back!

The prettiest food presentation in the Chicagoland mid-priced Asian Fusion world. Competitively priced and portion. A notch up to the common menu. Decent taste. For 2: share a Ramen + 1 maki will suffice. WINELIST — decent selection that is below $ 10 per glass. CHERRYBLOSSOM($ 12) — one big half a scoop of spicy tuna. Impressive avocado wrapping. SPICYMISORAMEN($ 12) — 2 big rounds of perfectly grilled pork, 1 half egg, bamboo shoots, 2 slices of rice cakes, and my favorite wood ear. Medium spice. The artistically pleasing bowl is inconveniently functional. THEFLAMER($ 15) — skip it. The baked shrimp tempura batter is hard. Nice and colorful. SALTEDCARAMELCAKE($ 8) — the perfect ending to a meal. Light, fluff and crunch. Unique. Presentation looks like a painting with red flying birds. Impressive. SERVICE — Tak is informative, smart with good recommendations. If you are curious and bored, seek out Tak’s knowledge of Chinese culture and history. He also knows the level of dryness between wines. An impressive man. VENUE — The window area can be cold. Clean and organized. Warm — modern décor with wood accents and slats. Table placement is tight.

Let me start by saying that the quality of the fish used at Niu B is excellent. Since that is by far the most important quality when it comes to sushi, my experience started out on the right foot. When I was seated, I was immediately served water with cucumber which was a wonderful surprise. If you’ve never had the pleasure of eating sushi and cleansing your palate with cucumber infused water, you’re missing out! I started with the Miso Soup and it was very good. I ordered the Lychee Martini in hopes of trying something a little different. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a very light and refreshing cocktail. Something I’d happily order again. For my meal I ordered the Maki Roll, Mellow Yellow Roll, and two pieces of Salmon Sashimi. Everything was wonderful! The Mellow Yellow Roll is so unique and beautiful. The presentation of both rolls was very impressive. I’ve noticed several complaints regarding the prices of the sushi. Sushi is quite similar to steak in that pricing dictates quality. So if you can’t tell the difference between a $ 10 Applebees Steak and a $ 40 Ruth’s Chris steak, by all means, go to Applebees. Yes, Niu B is a bit higher on the sushi price scale, but it was worth the price. My next trip to Chicago will lead me right back here to try out the other rolls that Niu B has to offer. If I could give this restaurant a 4.5, I would!

Vibe: Swanky and classy. I can sense that they are going for a «sexy» vibe. Service: Our server was very attentive and gave us recommendations. What we ordered: Robata items: –Ribeye steak was tasty with a little bit of fat attached. Simple and good. –Cow Tongue was super tender. Heavy cumin taste and with a bit of spice. Loved it. –Chicken Satay: It looked like a mini chicken kefta. Moist, but nothing special. –Asparagus wrapped with bacon: The bacon was super fatty and delicious. Great char taste. Starters: — Cherry blossom: Presentation was gorgeous and very tasty although a bit small. — Sea bass: The fish is so moist and delicious. Set on a bed of shitake mushrooms which was amazing. Again, very small. Sushi: –Rainbow roll: Although well done, it’s not any different from any other restaurants. –Mellow Yellow: I really liked the mango and safron. Very bright and refreshing roll. –Forgot the name of this one maki with escolar, jalepeno and cilantro but it was my favorite one. –Sweet potato maki: the sweet potato wasn’t quite cooked all the way through. I would skip this one. Drinks: –Far East Old Fashioned: strong. no complains, but didn’t see what was so far east about it. –Lychee Mimosas: The ladies that ordered it in our party loved it. –Rose bud tea: Very cute. Came in a tiny glass pot with a tiny glass cup. Not bad for $ 4. We also ordered the Spider roll, but they gave us soft shell crab appetizer instead… after we started eating it without thinking, the server recognized the mistake and asked if we wanted to just have the appetizer instead. At this point, we were already eating it so we said it’s fine. Overall, the food was actually pretty good and service was great as well. The only complaint is the price. A lot of the rolls were about $ 15.
