Morgan’s on Maxwell has closed permanently. I give them five stars for the bar they used to be. Friendly staff, stiff drinks, excellent pub food! The games were always on and the patrons were always into it. I was here for the Hawks win of Cup in both 2010 as well as 2013. Great times! Approximately three years ago, the bar down the street, Junior’s shut their doors. The undesirables from Junior’s slowly relocated to Morgan’s. My past few visits to Morgan’s have been lack-luster and the owner and staff saw the change coming. Morgan’s became ghetto on the weekends — It wasn’t locals stumbling is, it was hoodrats from the South. None the less, the rules changed… they were losing staff because tips and smiles fell off. Rude thuggish patrons, fights and bad attitude led to the demise. Melissa Z. below spoke of automatic gratuity — It wasn’t always like that — When clientele are generally bad tippers, the mandatory gratuity had to be imposed. No bar wants to do that. I remember the hay days — I’ve got the memories — Thank you Morgan’s for 10 great years!

Amazing place! Staff is awesome! Justin was our server and he was so cool with the fact that we were in a slight rush and our food was out promptly without compromising taste. Would come back here in a heart beat and recommend it to everyone. Plus 3 people eating for 30 bucks and being stuffed is awesome!

Get ready to pay an automatic 18% gratuity on a $ 50 or more bill. Apparently you need to read the fine print at this place! All we ordered was alcohol and we got an automatic gratuity charge, not that our server didn’t earn it, but we would like to be given the choice. We have never been to a restaurant that charges an automatic 18% on a two person bill.

I dont live too far from Morgans but I rarely go here because of the service and how slow the kitchen is. I am currently sitting at the bar waiting for my burger and fries as a take out order. 45 minutes later… Dont go here. I am surprised its still around.

To be honest I’d give them zero stars but unfortunately its not possible. Went there with my boyfriend, and my sister and her boyfriend who came to visit from out of town. The host had an attitude as soon as we walked in. Fine. Maybe she was having a bad day, but still no reason for the attitude. Took 20 minutes for someone to even come and take our drink order. It took another plus hour and a half for them to get our food out. My sisters boyfriend is a chef and he even agreed that it was taking way too long even for a «busy» bar and grill. Tables that were seated after we were also got their food way before we did. At that point we talked to the waitress because we were paying the meter and we had to go soon. The waitress seemed very bothered that we sent the food back to kitchen. At that point it was ridiculous. Mediocre food especially their crappy looking wings(which looked microwavable by the way) dont take that long to make. You would have seriously thought that they were just harvesting the potatoes to make the fries, possibly just killed the chicken and cow for a burger and wings all the while making a tortilla from scratch(which doesn’t take that long), but I forgot, they were probably harvesting the corn. We ordered two appetizers and a burger.(Even Buffalo Wild Wings chucks out your appetizers faster) She then comes back after sending the food back with our check almost like a eff you, pay and get out. She didn’t even ask if our tabs were separate, At that point we were all just so irate we payed and left that dung hole. We didn’t, but we should have told her to separate our tabs because we were forced to pay her gratuity which made out the check to be well over $ 100 for sub par drinks and the most horrible service. We’ll NEVER go back again and I’m still baffled as to how such a terrible place manages to stay open. If you enjoy terrible service, by all means go but I’d rather stand outside in front of Express Grill during the polar vortex than order anything from there again,

Claims to be the best Blackhawks bar in the city, but I’m not sure about if it really is. They do definitely get in to it! They also do interactive activities with the patrons sometimes. Ironically when I was there, the people at the bar were watching the hawks and the people at the tables were playing trivia about musicals. How about that spectrum?! The bartenders are great! The host, ehhh… Not so much. The waiter was nice too. It’s unfortunate when the first person you see has an attitude. Food was decent bar food. Drinks were poured good enough. Just a meh.

I have been to Morgans twice now. First time was for drinks and a Blackhawks game. The second time was for dinner. There is nothing phenomenal about the food as it is a bar first. Our server was fast and friendly keeping drinks filled and the pace of meal was quick. I would expect slower service at a bar but I was pleasantly surprised. There seems to be some pretty crazy reviews about this place that I did not see until after the fact. I’ve never been here to get housed so I assume that’s why I didn’t experience anything crazy. Overall I think it’s a loud fun sports driven environment and I would go back sometime.

Never mind they’re still awesome. My friend and I just came on a bad weekday night. Phil and all the other bartenders rock!

On a wednesday night they have both trivia night and their special for a burger and a beer for $ 7. Beers normally cost $ 8 here so it’s a damn amazing deal. They aren’t just miller or PBR either, they are good craft beers on tap served in a large glass. There are almost as many burger selections as there are beer selections. I ended up getting the California burger since it had avocados. Trivia was fun(3 rounds) but sadly I didn’t win any of the prizes. 1st place is $ 50, second is $ 25, third is a round of drinks for your team.(The money is in the form of a gift card to the restaurant so you can’t go spend it somewhere else)

The place was pretty empty when we arrived. Our waitress was very attentive when we were seated, took our order and bought our drinks fairly quickly. Moments later, the dj arrived, and boy was he loud for no apparent reason. We found ourselves shouting just to get a couple of words in. Our downfall was that my friend asked the waitress to ask the dj if he can lower the music a bit so that we can hear ourselves talk. Our service was then horrible. We could barely get the waitress to come back for second round of drinks and seemed somewhat bothered that we were asking her for items. The wings were pretty spicy for my taste but yet were good. I also ordered the pulled pork sliders which were just OK. I wish they had better service at this spot and a dj on a weekend not on a weekday when you’re just meeting up with your friends for a quick chat. I thought I was in a nightclub.

This place is hit or miss depending on what is going on that day, sometimes it is so mobbed, you can’t even get in. Service is inconsistent. Sometimes outstanding(especially at the bar) and sometimes we’ll go 30 – 40 minutes without having a waitress replace our empty beers. But tons of TVs and a cool vibe in the place, and decent comfort food. Parking is on the street, and you have to keep an eye on the time of your parking ticket — meter maids are merciless in this area!

After waiting for over an hour to be seated next door during a girls night out, we got tired of waiting and came to Morgan’s. I had been here previously only for drinks, but came in this time to eat and drink. We were starving and had burgers, beer, and appetizers and it was all good. There was a game on and we started to watch and actually get into it. It wasn’t the best place for a «girls night out», but the night was already off to a bad start after our experience next door and this made it better. Thanks Morgan’s.

I’m not a huge sports bar kind of guy, but we come here before our softball games… and it does the job. There are plenty of tvs to catch a game, and the beer list is pretty decent. They tend to start blasting music pretty loud when it’s not even busy, which can be annoying. They server typical bar food that is okay, and not very expensive. If you are in a pinch and looking for a bar in the area. Morgans will do the job.

This is the first time I’ve been here. It was really dark and I had issues seeing the menu(had to use my cell phone as a source of light). I get disappointed because they didn’t have the sweet potato tots. Their fries were good though. I ordered the Grecian chicken and no doubt it was the wing plane. They were pretty juicy, yet still a bit dry overall. The taste is not bad. Some surprises… some people may sneak in for beers because we didn’t get checked. They have huge screens at every turn. You definitely won’t miss the game. It was pretty difficult to flag down people so we took it in our own hands by walking up to them to get their attention. Boy, oh boy it worked well. We had two waitresses working on our side for the night.

I had a nice weeknight dinner with some friends that live in University Village. The service was good, the beer plentiful and the food was above average. It’s a good neighborhood bar… with some great UIC scenery!
