Mimi’s Unisex

Can’t follow instructions. Horrible haircut, totally unlike what I wanted, what I told her I wanted, and protested about.

Found this place in Unilocal as my previous Barber disappeared. Called and got in the same day. I saw Raquel and she was great. I was in and out within 30 minutes, got a great hair-​cut and beard-​trim for $ 20. Definitely going back.

I despise getting my haircut and will avoid it at all costs… until the hair covers the top of my ears and I can no longer put it off! I had been searching for somewhere nearby other than the common chains like Hair Cuttery, Great Clips or Super Cuts for several months and happened upon Mimi’s thanks to Unilocal.Thankfully, Mimi’s is family owned and allows phone reservations in order to avoid the wait. I made mine for after work and walked in to be welcomed by Raquel, the owner’s sister herself, who led me straight to her styling chair. She smiled and nodded while listening to my requests. I was not just a numbered customer to finish up quickly, instead she spend a good 45 minutes trimming every little hair to perfection. Once I switched to Spanish mode we went on and on in pleasant conversation discussing everything from our childhood, to favorite hobbies, to telenovelas.
Mimi’s is open every day of the week and offers more services then just haircuts: Perms, Relaxer, Highlights, Keratin treatments, Facials, Spa Pedicures and Manicures, and Waxing. Be sure to stop by on Tuesdays and Thursdays when a Mani+Pedi is on special for $ 35 (usually a manicure is $ 7 and pedicure is $ 30). Check it out and tell Raquel Richie sent you ;). Let’s face it I’m a guy and I can walk-​in to almost any hair salon or barber shop and get lined up. Mimi’s is only a couple blocks from my abode (and my roommate gave it good praises) so I decided to stop in.
Honestly she did a great job and paid attention to detail unlike some other crappy joints (Great Clips) that leave you with rouge hairs a half-​inch longer than the rest.
Needless to say I was impressed with $ 15+tip and a short walk back home. The lady was very nice and even trimmed up my beard for no extra charge.
Thanks to Mimi’s I’ll see you again in about 4 weeks.

I haven’t been in years and truly my only times going to a salon were the 2 times I’ve been there but the ladies there are so sweet and cute! It is laid back and inexpensive for what you get. Not yuppy at all, come on-​it has unisex in the title but if you’re not into the looks but you want quality and great service, this is the place!
