Given that it’s a McDonald’s, there isn’t much to say. I was here at around eleven and went through the drive-through. I found service to be slow, and my hash brown was neither as fresh nor as crispy as I like it to be. On the bright side, it was a McDonald’s hash brown, and I’ve never had better hash browns than they have here.

Gotta give a shout out to my favorite morning crew! I stop by this location every day after the gym, pretty early. I’m pretty much addicted now to the latte. It’s the closest thing to Cuban coffee I can get on the way back from the gym. I order a small, whole milk, two sugars and no extra«flavor». Just coffee, steamed milk and sugar. I think it has a deeper, «smokier» coffee flavor than say, a regular coffee. I know this sounds funny –after all, it is McDonald’s –but I’m tired of Starbucks and I hate regular bland coffee. I would love to find some real Cuban coffee(café con leche) but Rogers Park is not the home to many(if any?) Cubans so I’m not having much luck in that department. There was a mistake one morning when I did receive a plain old coffee but noticed when I got home and didn’t have time to go back. I called and spoke to manager Maria and she gave me a free replacement to correct the mistake the next day. Hey, mistakes happen; I thought it was cool that she was so friendly and resolved the problem! Also, this spot is rather pretty inside… again for a McDonald’s! I think McDonald’s is changing its image to compete with cozy coffee houses. Sometimes me and my gym friends grab a coffee together here after our class and the décor has struck me as rather inviting –way different than the cheesy décor of my youth(the fabulous 80’s). So, if you are Cuban, don’t judge me. I know this is probably NOT close to a good café con leche but, in my head, it serves its purpose until I can find a good Cuban spot somewhere along Cicero Ave. on my way to work!!! In the mean time, my post gym addiction continues!

It’s only McDonald’s, right? But you know, the staff here screws up my drive-through order about 33% of the time, breakfast, lunch, dinner or late in the boozy night. Sometimes they give me the wrong sandwich. Sometimes an additional random bonus mystery sandwich. Oh, and«May I have a napkin?» does not mean one napkin. McD’s can spare two or even three. An employee here can work more than an hour to make as much as we pay for a breakfast while the executives in Oak Brook rake in the dough. Apparently by store policy one must specifically request ketchup too, as none is offered or given otherwise and a sign behind the counter within the restaurant states there is a charge for extra condiments. Is it not written, do condiments unto others as you would have condiments done unto you? Nay! «Ask and ketchup, mayo and tartar sauce will be given you. Ask for more, pay for more. Ask not and thou shalt not receive.»(McD 12:13) So saith the Lord Ronald of WesternandMorse. «Why, oh why! is Wendy’s not open earlier and later?» I wail and gnash my teeth. Also, after having recently having visited this place every day for two weeks between 5:00 am and 8:00 am and sometimes in the afternoon, a question comes to mind: Do they ever change their rancid, nasty frying oil? The damned breakfast hash brown triangle, soggy fries and Filet O’ Fish bite you back. Foul grease soaks through the bag. You quickly learn to stash it on the floor to save the upholstery. Sometimes McDonald’s is a necessity. This location too often makes it a mistake. They also own the one at Touhy and Kedzie. Be forewarned. Best, Peter O.

The owners constantly hire people who don’t speak nor understand English, for cheap pay. prepare the food and because of it, the food quality is poor, and horrible. I’ve witness customers, myself included, repeatedly checking our orders for accuracy. I witnessed customers come back in there upset to find out their food was prepared wrong. I’ve called McDonald’s corporate office to complained over the years but it hasn’t got better. My family and I prefer Wendy’s over this shit hole.

Great place since they renovated. Friendly staff and quick service. Great place to hit up late at night for grease food, 24⁄7 drive through.

You know, I love McDonalds… love the filet o fish. I write about this one because it is in my neighborhood. It has ample parking, some of the nicest, well kept landscaping around, a very nice interior, lovely bathrooms. It is among the cleaner McDonald’s I’ve been too(and I’ve been to a lot). The staff, you know, is like McDonald’s staff. No one too rude and you certainly don’t get ignored… best thing is in the mornings, there is a veritable singles bar of retired folks there flirting with each other. I’m a little out of the age bracket, but it makes for good dine-o-tainment.
