First of all, Lissa is fantastic at styling locs. I discovered Lissa through a friend that I have known for sometime. I immediately saw his locs and fell in love. I have only been to Lissa only a few times. The first time was to start my locs and to gain some knowledge. Lissa will take the time to answer every question you may have. I appreciated the fact that she was willing to pull out her products and discuss them with me. On a personal note, she will never recommend any kind of GEL to use in your locs. Lissa went into a thorough explanation into why GEL is deadly for your locs. During my last visit I was deeply dissatisfied with the service I received. My issue began with the male stylist who did not wash my hair thoroughly. Unfortunately my scalp was not completely clean with tons of buildup. I did not notice how much buildup was present until I sat down in Lissa’s chair by a mirror. Which instead of her washing my hair again herself, she scrapped the dandruff from scalp using a comb. Then she proceeded to style my hair by packing on oil and cream product on top my loc’d hair. During this particular visit she advise me of what products to use to clarify and maintain my scalp. :/ I am not sure if this is a loc technique I am not familiar with. Maybe the male stylist was afraid he would wash my locs out, JK. My understanding thus far that proper loc care begins with a good shampoo. I have not been back to the salon since that visit.
