I was very suspicious as we were walking into this place. It was extremely dark; there were no other customers at approximately 2100 hour; the hostess didn’t seem to be happy to be there. Ok, all those ominous signs were present. We, however, have committed to trying this place for dinner tonight. There was point of no return. Thus, We took a courage pill and placed our order. I stick with my normal routine item: caldo de Cameron(shrimp soup), and hubby ordered the chicken mole combo. We were informed that the waiting was about fifteen(15) minutes for the order to be ready. That was no problem. I know the Univision soap opera would keep us company. There was one other guy, too… introducing…miss fly! That fly was with us for entire duration of the wait. She was annoying, but at least she wasn’t hungry for human skin. She was just loitering around us. Well, that was cool… I guess. The plastic bags to hold our order were from Jewel-Osco. Umm… another ominous sign, but the taste of food was all that mattered. How did the food taste? Surprising, it was quite good! My caldo de Cameron wasn’t too spicy, even though the hostess did ask me if I wanted spicy, which I responded positively to her inquiry. Despite the lack of spiciness, the flavor was pleasant. I wish there were more shrimps in the soup, but overall, it was satisfying. Whoever cooked the soup also de-tailed the shrimps. Thank you. That was a four-star worth of praise for the work he or she performed. My hubby’s chicken mole was actually interesting. I didn’t think I had mole before. With an abundant amount of tortilla they provided as part of the meal, that was an excellent medium to scoop that yummy mole. Oh by the way, the total came to $ 25 after tax. Though I wouldn’t say the prices of items were competitive enough comparing to other similar establishments in Albany Park. This hole-in-the-wall place is a keeper. Perhaps after I spread good words about it, they will turn on more lights to attract more customers into the door. As of now, the lighting is just horrible.

One of the best mexican restaurants in Albany Park! It’s family owned and operated, so you know you’re definitely receiving the best service. The food is great! My favorites are«Flautas de Pollo». Their«Tortas» and«Enchiladas» are tasty as well. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try a different mexican joint. Yay Piramide!

I’ve been coming to La Piramide since I graduated from 8th grade(I had my graduation dinner here). I have lots of memories stored here.(Mostly dinner with my mom) and every time I come here I feel good. The food is good. I used to order Camarones a la diabla all the time(before I began getting allergic reactions to shrimps) now I order Enchiladas Suisas. Delicioso!!!

Hmm… another taqueria. Do you see a trend here? I went here for lunch today and yes, we have a winner! But I must warn you. If you’re scared of the words«cabeza» and«lengua», you may want to stop reading. For those who aren’t scared, will you marry me? The cabeza(head) tacos are my favorite. Tender pieces of meat — a bit of this and that, if you know what I mean — with cilantro, onions, and smokey red chili salsa on the side. I’m already addicted to it. The lengua(tongue) tacos were also delicious. Thinly sliced lengua, topped with cilantro and onions. I prefer braised, shredded lengua, but their version is quite good. The only item I didn’t care for was the carne asada taco. I’ve had better carne asada elsewhere, plus for some reason they added lettuce, tomato, and cheese to it. Tacos were inexpensive(under $ 2 each) and they were pretty generous with the meat. The rest of the menu is typical taqueria fare: tostadas, sopes, gorditas, huaraches, quesadillas, etc. I want to try their guacamole next time. Honestly, other than the guac, I’m happy with just ordering the cabeza tacos.
