This review is for the restaurant located adjacent to the supermarket. This was the first time I came to this location and I do not plan on returning. Me and my co-worker came here for lunch. I ordered a taco dinner, which has three tacos of your choice, rice and beans. Our food took longer than usual to arrive, but that’s not why I’m giving them a poor rating. I was into the second taco when I felt a thin string in my mouth, and took out a thin red hair. I couldn’t finish swallowing because of how grossed out I was so I got rid of the rest in a napkin. When I alerted our waitress, she informed who I’m assuming is the manager. When going up to the register, the manager then said that if that ever happens again, I should tell them right away so that they can replace my meal. I replied that I did inform them immediately, but did not want another meal. She then told me she would charge me for the two tacos and my drink. She didn’t apologize for what happened, instead told me what to do «next time.» Needless to say, I won’t be going back, but if I did, I would hope that I wouldn’t get a hair my food for a second time. I ended up getting charged for the taco that I didn’t finish because it had a hair in it. I understand these things happen, and I have returned to a restaurant after there was a hair in my food because their staff handled the situation in a much more professional, customer-focused way. The taste of the food was fine, but just imagining the hair in my mouthful of taco makes me lose my appetite.

This grocery store is pretty good at having fresh foods and really good meats. The carnitas they have here have actually gotten really good! They have a tendency of running out of certain items and then taking really long to restock or just plain never restocking it at all. As for the attached restaurant, id have to say pass. The waitresses are rude or plain dont care. The food isnt all thay great either. Caldo de res was bland. Costillas in salsa verde were undercooked. Tacos and burritos are so so. Way better places to eat on 26th st.

I have eaten at their taqueria(juxtapose to the grocery store) 2 times and both times, the service has been poor. Most recently, I dined there with my family and our entrees took about 40 minutes to arrive. The order was incomplete as well. The quality of the food is mediocre at best. I have ordered their tacos, tortas, and burritos during my 2 visits. They need to improve la calidad and el servico immediately. All I can say is good riddance!

The day-time«store supervisor» is the absolute worst person to deal with. She’s in dire need of some people skills, as well as management classes. I’ve heard from other patrons, as well as former employees, who say that she’s completely disrespectful. I had a legitimate complaint about an item I purchased and she seemed to go out of her way to be as rude as possible. WTF is her deal?!?

This is my neighborhood grocery store. I prefer this over say a Jewel store, their groceries are fresher, cleaner and cheaper than that of Jewel. Nice big parking lot unfortunately its always full and a bit of a challenge to find parking, it’s usually busy.

My boyfriend used to frequent this La Chiquita all the time when he lived in this neighborhood. We haven’t been there in a while, but last week we were invited to a Superbowl party in the area. We decided to stop by and pick up some Superbowl snacks for the party. Boy, has this place changed since about 5 years ago! First, they have remodeled the store, so it has a bit more of an «upscale» feel than your average, small Mexican grocery store –kind of like Jewel meets Tony’s. The deli area is the heart of the store –the way it’s designed –it just gives a warm, family feel to the whole store! We ordered guacamole and tuna salad and also purchased tostadas to share. Since I was starving that very moment, I ordered a pre-prepared pizza looking sope to eat right away! It was good! I wish I lived near this store so I could shop there more often. However, we are in that area often enough and love to stop by and pick up our basic necessities! I’m sure we’ll be back again soon!

This review is for the supermercado not the restaraunt… You have to pay close attention to the prices. Once at the counter it’ll sometimes ring up a different price — they’ll get you unless you catch it. They have«fresh» bread towards the back in this glass section. I was going to get some one time until I noticed that enclosed with the bread was also a couple of flies. Not a good site. Sometimes the carnitas are good but at times its all fat. The tamales on the weekend are good but you have to get there early or they’ll run out. I’m usually in and out. Way too many people on the weeked. I’m sorry, I’m mexican but at times I hate going to this place. You see people with their 4 kids running around and getting in the way. To some mexicans going grocery shopping is a group outting — its just annoying, the place is convenient but I was disappointed when they tore down Jewel years ago. Some cashiers are nice but others just seem ghetto. With their facial piercing and hickeys on their necks. Oh and if you want to get a giggle… Go to the service counter by the cashiers. They have pictures of all the thieves holding merchandise that they were caught trying to steal.

The La Chiquita chain are grocery stores/taquerias with locations in Chicago and the western suburbs. On the weekends, it’s all about the pozole… delicious and soothing, and my favorite breakfast in the world. Their sopes are also really good. The chicken is good, the carne asada is better, and the al pastor is the best. I haven’t tried much else on the menu, because my first choice is always Nuevo Leon. Their chips aren’t made fresh, which gets on my bad side from the jump, and I don’t like their salsa. I tried the horchata once(and won’t again), but their jamaica makes up for it.
