I have been a regular at this place since 1990“s and the quality sure has declined. The salsa use to be way better on a much bigger molcajete and they included a few pieces of queso fresco. Everything has gotten much smaller and the prices had been raised after it got«Michelin Mentioned». They got way too fancy for the neighborhood. Pastas, Italian and some other items that don’t go with the«Estilo Guerrero» theme that made them famous. The service really tries to meet your expectations and they try hard but the food is not there anymore. There is some real traditional dishes but they are not that good. They can’t follow simple instructions like how to make eggs over easy. The yokes are completely cooked through it was gross I had to send it back. They charge 4 dollars to as «cecina» to your breakfast. Making your breakfast 11 dollars! In the hood? Two eggs, spoon full of beans and rice I thinks it’s ridiculous. The portion of cecina is laugh able not worth the money at all. Three stars because I use to love the enchiladas en mole. But now they are no longer in the menu. Also the handmade tortillas are plain awesome all you need is 2 – 3. I would go back… My parents still love it and my friends frequent this place often. I would just try finding else that I like. It was once really good ;(

Went here for my cousins Birthday who came to visit from Florida. We ordered Cabrito estilo Monterrey, it was over cooked, not seasoned at all and with a bitter taste. My cousin is from Monterrey so he and I know what a Cabrito should taste like, and what we had was nothing near what it should be. The rest of our guests weren’t impressed at all with the food either. For the $ 200.00 + bill… no one was satisfied, I think we would’ve had a better meal at McDonalds. Would not recommend this place at all. I will never go back there again. The waiter did ask how the food was, we were honest, he apologized. I would give a no star rating but that’s not an option :/

Was there on a Friday during lunch, the place wasn’t crowded. The waitress had both our orders wrong, My friend order the seafood soup and got the shrimp soup. I order the flautas and got a different dish. there were no utensils on the table, and she didn’t bother to bring any, and because it took to long to bring out our meal, I used the spoon from the pepper sauce. The rice and beans were spread thin on a big plate making it look like you were getting a lot. The was no real flavor to either dish. The waitress’s blouse was short where her over rounded waist was expose; which made it an unpleasant experience with an over price meal.

Went to this place today for Easter celebration with the family party of 13 and they took more than half an hour with our food we had to ask the waitress if it would be longer she just said sorry and hold on I understand we were a lot of ppl but we did not order a lobster for it to take this long. When the food finally arrived I ordered one of the steaks plate and wasn’t too convinced on that either I expected more for 14 – 15 dollars. Not to mention the music we were sat down right in front of the speakers we couldn’t even talk to each other because there was no way to hear nothing and I mean nothing. So I can say I’m probably not going back.

Excellent service and amazing food. They have handmade tortillas! And their horchata was actually really good. They have live music on Sunday’s so it’ll be a bit more difficult to get a table.

Looove this place very clean and very delicious!! food is fresh I usually get the Green pozole chicken .gosh soooo good! A little bit pricey but very worth it… service is great but I must say that the only small complaint I do have is on the waitress they are very nice don’t get me wrong! But they are not very active in a matter of constantly asking you if you need another drink. I had no drink in my cup for almost 20 minutes and the waitress didn’t even bother to ask if I need it more water etc etc. because she was busy chatting with the other waitress. I don’t have a problem with that. But please come and pay attention to you’re Table and it was not a busy morning. if it would of been a busy day then that’s another story but it wasn’t I was actually the 3 guest. in the restaurant. this really did Get me a bit upset! but I will still go for breakfast, specially only because the food is fresh.:)

Do not waste your time or money. I wanted to try the Monterrey goat dish and the waiter said it’s not available. Disappointing! Second, my wife saw on tv that this place has fantastic fried ice cream and we ordered it and it tasted mediocre. Didn’t even look like on tv. Third, the waiter did not even check on us once after serving our dishes nor ask if we needed anything. We wiped our hands on the tortilla rag because we didn’t have extra napkins. Fourth, the waiters are impossible to flag down, they stand in the corner gossiping and they also are not fluent in English hard to communicate. Fifth, the dishes are way over priced. The only highlight is the homemade tortillas are delicious and the guacamole. Terrible service. As much money as I spent I expect some customer service and wait staff but no one checked on us and it wasn’t even busy that day. Never coming back.

This place used to be really good, authentic Mexican food, i used to crave this place. However I’ve been here 3x in the past 2 months and I can honestly say that this place is slowly letting itself go. There house salsa’s been lukewarm, and the food mediocre. The vegetable fajitas I ordered today had too much onion and herbs it really threw off the flavor of the other vegetables. The al pastor taco was dry, not fresh at all. During my last visit I ordered the tortilla soup and it had plenty of ingredients but yet lacked flavor, I took it home, added salt and chicken broth and it was delish. The guacamole and house tortillas are still really good, customer service is great, but I really hope that the flavor of the menu items improves.

Oh my goodness, I adore this place. A group of six of us went for dinner one evening, and everything was perfect. There was a community atmosphere, with at least three different birthday parties, all of whom had staff sing to them. There was a musician playing music and singing all evening, and the food was so tasty, as well as excellent value. I cannot recommend La Casa De Samuel enough. I’ll be back!

Delicious! Went on Fathers Day and it was packed! They forewarned us that the kitchen was behind about an hour, but the wait was totally worth it! The food was amazing, the drinks were ok, and even though service was a bit slow our server/servers were doing their best to accommodate us :) will definitely be back!

Sat eve. Restaurant is half full, and the upbeat music seems to be fine for the occasion. Waiter is súper fast to enquire for appetizer & drink orders. We requested some Mexican soda and flavored water, along with 3 simple cups of water. The chips and salsa are on point but little bit to spicy. We need water and is not coming. We ordered queso fundido con chorizo, and the portion is smaller than average. Four tortillas came along with and that was it. By now we already waited over 45 min to get our food but our water still nowhere close. Long story short, La Casa de Samuel is an overpriced Mexican restaurant, personnel nice but very slooow. nothing fancy or extra natural. The exotic dishes are lame and God knows if they are what they’re announced. This is a huge disappointment for me and certainly won’t return any time soon. I ordered rabbit in guajillo sauce and it was not what expected in terms of tenderness or flavor. My portions were small and foremost bones, almost no meat. Not a good idea coming from far away. I did buy a voucher from Unilocal

I want to thank this establishment for doing a Groupon. I have passed by this place many times not knowing what I’ve been missing! Went with a friend of mine to use my Groupon. The food was really good. I see that I can still get a food deal for them so I look forward to returning for more good food!

If you want a taste of Mexico, this is the place to go. We went there for Brunch on Sunday. They have all kinds of goodies for the hungover soul. The service is slow but I think the point is to enjoy time there to listen to good old Mexican songs and have a Michelada! Food was typical for Little Village area and the price can’t be beat. Of course the handmade tortillas are the best! Did I mention the music? It completely adds to the ambiance. If you want to feel like you are in Mexico, this is the place to be.

@LaCasadeSamuel The food was very tasty. The overall experience here was extremely positive. I had the cecina dinner plate and it was just like my mom used to make. The food is authentic Mexican food. The beans were good and tortillas were freshly made by hand… The service was attentive until it got a little busy but I can overlook that. The desert was just ok but it was just fried ice cream. I will definitely return to try the mole. The environment is spacious and clean. There is a woman in the front window making tortillas by hand… You can’t resist that.

We recently moved to Little Village. The night we signed the lease we stopped in here for some margaritas and chips, and left with our appetites whetted. Their chips and salsa are always hot, the women making the hand made tortillas always bring them out in waves. Our table has never been empty. I’m a sucker for the flautas, and my SO has gotten fajitas every time. The rabbit looks delicious, and I’m interested in trying the rattlesnake. The staff is wonderful! They make every effort to communicate both in English and Spanish, and are very attentive.

Really enjoyed my visit at Casa de Samuel. Had them bookmarked for a looooong time. Ended up there on accident. I didnt realize they were so close to the area where I work. I was on the way somewhere else when I saw their sign. I HADTOSTOP!!! Im glad I did. I ordered the rabbit in ajillo was DELICIOUS. I was impressed by their menu. Definetely not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. They serve venison, wild boar, quail, rattlesnake, BULLTESTICLES, etc… etc…Soooo, I plan on coming back FOR very advenurous when it comes to dining out. I get tired of the same olé’ same olé’.They also have tortillas hechas a mano that they make RIGHTTHERE where you can see them making them. Theyre good as hell!!! Prices are was well within my budget. Totally recommending them. Good service also. Bön appetit!!!
