The food is very good, but I don’t understand why it take 1hour half to delivery to my house when I’m only 5,10 minutes a way.

Came to Chicago for business purposes. I haven’t had Puerto Rican food in a while. Ordered white rice, beans, steak with onions, stuffed sweet plantains, and a Malta India. Absolutely loved it! The beans were really authentic and the service was amazing! Highly recommend it!

Place is amazing. their online ordering sucks because the options are not set up right but they always call you right away to make sure they get your order right and the food is always super good and authentic.

Excellent authentic Puerto Rican food. I had the Mofongo con Camarones and it was incredible. Don’t miss this place.

I first tasted Puerto Rican food in the home kitchen of my high school bff, Carmen Rivera. Her mother, born and raised on the island, insisted whenever I visited that I sit down for arroz con gandules y chuleta, her homemade tamales, or pollo con arroz blanco y frijoles negros, pastelon and my favorite, pollo con habichuelas y arroz blanco. So my experience with authentic Puerto Rican food gives me a benchmark from which to offer my judgment on La Bomba: this is the genuine article. Also, living near Miami for 10 years gave me ample opportunity to try various ethinc latino cuisines, but Puerto Rican food remains my favorite(with Cuban a close second). La Bomba is the real deal; happy people who seem to genuinely enjoy providing you with a a deliciously satisfying meal. The first time we had this our friend brought over catered treats from La Bomba: a dozen Beef empandas and a half tray of arroz con gandules. We were ticked at our friends’ thoughfulness, but when we tasted the food we were over the top, and everybody at our wine party sincerely enjoyed it as well. Last night we went for take out. My partner got the Jibarito and I ordered the Pastel(Tamale) dinner, we both got arroz con gandules and some beef empanadas for aperitivos. Wonderful! If you want to try the island’s wonderful cuisines you cannot go wrong at this restaurant, ‘cuz it’s La Bomba!

Fantastic food, service and prices. Decent menu options from chicken to fish, sandwichs to full entrees and super affordable appetizers make for a great meal! Visted today for dine in with husband and teen son all of us were blown away by the great service, quick seating and really authentic cuisine. We are Cuban but our food is pretty similar in nature lots of fried food, pork, rice and plantains(fried green bananas). Different seasoning though, made for a nice change. Tried a few other restaurants with the same menu none compare in food quality, quick and friendly service nor do they offer a true sit down restaurant with REAL silverware(if I have to tip I don’t want plastic forks). Lots of napkins right on the table another pet peeve I have. Overall a 5 star experience for what this restaurant is — a higher end home cooked meal. This is not for those watching calories, need gluten free or vegan — don’t knock them for that. What they do they do well — Puerto Rican delights! Street parking only with meter in front, BYOB maybe, you should call to verify. Not kid friendly very small about 8 small table and 2 family size tables. Super clean over all, food comes out piping hot! Highly recommend — bonus found a coupon/certificate on Jan 2016. FYITOOWNERANDSTAFF — We loved the constant attention from not just our server but every employee in the dining area. Hope you do not lose this great touch. We live near the lake/Evanston and still willing to travel back to Logan for your food and service! For those complaing about delivery time — go in for dine in or pick up you will be glad you did!

I like the food here and prices are good but the service is pretty bad. A previous time I called in an order for pick up, the girl who I spoke to kept talking to other people while I was ordering and my order ended up being wrong. It’s been several months so I tried again. I ordered delivery an hour and a half ago. Food still not here…

They got my order wrong again. I will not be wasting my money with them ever. I’m very disappointed with their customer service. Instead of focusing on the customer ordering on the phone. They completely are speaking to others, The lack of Service is very poor!!!

Edit: Decided to give this place another try. The food was a lot better in terms of seasoning, but because it took an hour and a half to deliver, our order arrived cold. I live 5min away. That’s ridiculous. Misleading. The jibaritos were meh — nice thin fresh tostones, but not enough meat or seasoning. Everything was bland and the maduro was gross. That being said, the biggest issue I had was with the pricing. The prices posted online are different than that of the ones in the actual restaurant which makes no sense considering that they allow for online orders. Made the mistake of ordering over the phone and was charged more. Jibaritos were listed online as $ 5 ea, yet when I got my receipt it was listed as $ 5.95. Also, when speaking with the girl over the phone she asked me if American cheese was ok, however, she failed to mention that there would be an extra charge. Really? Charging extra for cheese on a jibarito? A jibarito with cheese is standard. What’s more is that when my bf picked up the order and pointed out the difference in price, the man giving him his order just shrugged it off. In all, the order was only $ 3 more than expected, which isn’t too bad. I just didn’t like that the pricing was all wrong and that la bomba failed to do anything about it. Pricing accompanied by subpar food — I will not be returning.

La Bomba delivers again. Real authentic Puerto Rican food is always served at this place. I made an order for pickup today(a busy Sunday evening) and was just missing an appetizer in my bag. The owner was so kind as to send one of his drivers to deliver the warm appetizer right on time providing awesome customer service. I will be coming back and will tell anyone that listens to come here for authentic Puerto Rican food that makes you feel like your eating in a true boricua home. Thanks La Bomba !

It’s all fried. Gut buster, get ready. It’s a dark spot with a façade that’s not all that inviting, but once you get in, everyone’s friendly and there to get their grub on. Had the mofongo and the plaintain fritters. The chicharron was served on the side of the mofongo and I was hoping to have it incorporated in a little bit for the flavor but oh well. Soup that came with it was all grease/gelatin at the top and if you like that, you’re set, but it can be a little bit intimidating. But hey, I guess that’s how they do.

Best bacalaitos in Chicago! Get there early because they run out I love this place! There Sopas are also amazing, very delicious. The arroz con gandules doesn’t compare to Mami’s, but it’s up there. If you go here get a Sopa or the jibarito, mofongo is okay. All of their frituras are good but the alcapurilla is very oily, it’s good– but not my favorite of their frituras. I come back here as often as my wife is willing. I feel home here.

I’ve been coming here for years. I mean my aunt had her wedding reception catered by them years ago and they still come back. The prices are very good and so are the dishes. Some may argue that it’s all fried food, but if you are looking at their fried food section and order from there, guess what? That’s what you’ll get. Fried food. Yes, our culture does have a reputation for frying a lot of our foods, but no one seems to see the broilded, baked, slow cooked foods that make up our wonderful carribean cuisine. Check this place out if your looking for traditional cooking and a slice of islands hospitality.

La Bomba really is… la Bomba. I know, I know, it’s pretty lame, but I mean come on! What do you expect for a restaurant with a name like that? La Bomba is definitely one of the better(if not best) places with Puerto Rican food. Their steak jibaritos are cooked and seasoned very well, as well as their arroz con gandules. I’ve had their alcapurrias at the PR fest, and those are crack. I can have those all day errryyydaaayy. Service is surprisingly good and very efficient, considering the fact that when I went there was a line outside the door. Yep, they’re that good. Do it guys, join Boricua culture and come get yo jibaritooosss. Boom. Haha get it? I ended the review with boom, because you know, la Bomba? Okay I’ll just end my review here and go get some alcapurrias.

I love puerto rican food! I enjoy cooking some of the dishes as well. My sister is mixed with puerto rican so she has taught me well. My family cooks great, authentic food so I’m always leery of some of the restaurants. I thought Borinquen was the best for puerto rican food… man I was wrong! I ate from La Bomba Place, La Bomba restaurants food truck they have parked in Humboldt Park(Kedzie side), and I was amazed. While I was there, the restaurant was making a delivery to the truck bringing food to them. I had received my food before they started unloading. It still tasted hot and fresh! Our food was sooooo good! We barely made it home with the food, me and my husband were eating in the car! It was a little greasy though, but hey, it’s fried food so what do you expect!!! We had alcapurrias, bacalaitos, relleno de papa, Arroz con gandules and a steak jibarito. It all was delicious! I’ve had the Jibarito from a few different places and there’s is #1, HANDSDOWN! Thank you Unilocal! While eating my way through Chicago, I was seeking a gluten free option… and found a life changer! Have you ever heard of a jibrito? Every single person I know will know about this greatness soon! Instead of bread, it’s plantains! It’s genius! We also had the Banana dumpling and meat pies! I’ve eaten a lot of meat pies in my day(TX/LA) and these were delicious! WE also had the mofongo con carne… I see it all the time on the Travel Channel, and this was my first opportunity to try it. It was fantastic! The seasoning was great! The staff was excellent! If you are new, just walk through the«to-go» area, and get seated. You are in for a treat!
