I love this place, very vegetarian friendly, delicious and cheap. I got a lightly breaded tofu in a sweet sauce and it was outstanding, and a friend got the vegetable egg foo young and it actually had fresh vegetables in it. Will definitely go back again.

I just moved in down the street and had to pick up some lunch to feed all the people that were helping me move in for free. We ordered a large orange chicken, which was fairly flavorful and came with white rice, as well a some chicken lo mein which was decent. Price ended up $ 23, that’s including 3 Sprites as well. I was a little disappointed that they did not give us any fortune cookies but I am whiling to order from here again if I want Chinese.

I’ve ordered takeout a few times because I live down the street. I wish we had some better options in the area because I’d rather not be back. The egg rolls are extremely heavy and fall apart. The fried rice somehow both has too much soy sauce and is dry at the same time. Orange chicken and wonton soup were fine for a neighborhood joint. It’s nothing special but certainly not disgusting. I can usually call and immediately start walking over and it’s waiting for me when I get there, so that’s a plus. Dinner specials come with fried rice and an egg roll for under $ 10 and easy online ordering.

Solid Chinese restaurant, we do takeout about once a month, food is always prepared quickly and accurately, and they cook the food in broth instead of oil if you request for a healthier option!

I’ve lived down the street from Jin for about a year now and stop in often for carry out. Jin provides perfect comfort food when we’re looking to get some not so healthy, but very tasty Chinese food! The staff is nice and the service is prompt, particularly for carry out. They always provide an abundance of utensils, soy sauce, etc. The egg rolls are always crispy on the outside and loaded with tasty filling. My favorite, maybe the token American dish, is the equivalent of General Tao’s chicken. I think they call it Mandarin chicken or something here. The sauce is spicy, but not too hot to make your mouth burn. If you’re looking for a place where you can always find a seat you can definitely stop in Jin. There’s rarely many people inside, but they look to do a pretty brisk takeout business. We’ll keep coming back :).

I have been to Jin a few times during my lunch break. Its solid old school Chinese(no frills) in a good way, generous portions, food is fresh, and the lunch specials are a steal. I have tried the Gen Tso, Szechuan beef veggie delight and chicken fried rice. I will be back to try more.

Former New Jeanny’s Chinese. Similar menu and similar service. It was fine for a Christmas Day, and going here between lunch and dinner meant we were the only customers for a while. Eggrolls were tasty. Better than most Chinese places I’ve tried in the neighborhood. Crag rangoon was excellent. Pot stickers were supposed to be pan fried, but they came to use steamed. My sesame chicken was ok but the breading could’ve been crisper. Heavy sauce and light on sesame seeds. The shrimp fried rice was good; moist without being mushy, and it didn’t reek of seafood. Prices were average to what you’d find at other nice Chinese restaurants; the website’s online menus do not reflect dine-in menu prices. The seating area was clean and roomy. Service was polite and available.

Last night I had a great experience with this restaurant. I live right around the corner and was craving Chinese and still hadn’t found«my place» here in Lakeview. As per others’ recommendations I got the beef chow fun. I called in my order and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I was having my furnace replaced in my apartment and I couldn’t leave until they were done. I told the woman on the phone I could pick it up around 8. When 8:20 rolls around and I still haven’t picked my food up she called me and offered it to be delivered for no delivery charge! It was very sweet and it is great when a restaurant goes above and beyond for their customers. The beef chow fun hit the spot. I am a pretty picky eater and it was amazing. This is definitely my new Chinese spot.

Jessica is a dedicated worker and always works to please. The staff is as diligent, and as long as a customer is present they are never found idle. They’re just as friendly, too. Not only that but the food is outstanding! Seriously though this restaurant is a diamond in the rough. My personal favorite is the mango smoothie paired with the crab rangoons with any selection of fried rice

I love this place! I work right down the street and this is my goto place for lunch. I always get the Governor’s Chicken lunch special and it is always very hot and a huge portion. The staff is also very friendly every time I come in.

Ordered for the first time for delivery last night. We ended up getting the dinner special of Governors Chicken(similar to General Tso), a large bowl of Beef fried rice, and Chicken Chow Mien Noodles. We also had a coupon for a free order of Crab Rangoon. The total, with tax and delivery fee(not including tip) was just under $ 30. The portions were of good size. I was definitely filled up on my Governors Chicken dinner plate(came with chicken fried rice and your choice of a soda or a egg roll). It was pretty tasty and give it two thumbs up. My GF could eat only half of her beef fried rice. Again, good portion size. The crab Rangoon(I do not like seafood) was good by her standards. My only complaint was the Chow Mien noodles. They were not good at all considering the price of $ 9. The chicken and veggies that came with it(they came separated from the noodles) were good, but the noodles were a mix between hard/crunchy and soggy. Too inconsistent, and it lacked flavor. Delivery time was quicker than anticipated. Ordering over the phone took longer than expected since the guy was having trouble understanding me. Overall, it wasn’t the best Chinese I’ve ever had but was pretty good when considering everything. I’d give it a try if you have never been here before.

I liked New Jeanny’s, and I like Jin Asian Café! Just picked up an impromptu take-out meal. The service was friendly and the man at the registered explained different sauces to me at moderate length. He really knew what goes into his plates. The price was a bit higher than I would’ve liked, but I got the Cashew Chicken and was impressed by the quality and healthfulness. It wasn’t greasy at all and felt wholesome. Big portions! All in all, I’m a fan and I’ll be back!

Here’s the thing: I went on St. Patrick’s day, and again last Friday night, and both times it was empty and a great place for a group of 7 to BYOB and get a quiet table. Last time, I got the dinner special, and you get a crazy amount of pretty good food for $ 8-$ 10. I liked the crab rangoon and the egg drop soup quite a bit. My friend is in love with the short ribs; they are sweet and marry both candy and meat flavors well. I’m saying, give it a chance!

We use to go here when it was Jeanny’s then it became the New Jeanny’s and now it;s Jin Asian Café. The atmosphere is a little bland inside and thats why I prefer to pick up. If I was Jin I would make it a tiki theme keep the BYOB and offer mixers for the tiki theme cocktails. The menu is the same as the previous restaurants that where there before for the most part with all the mainstay Chinese dishes. Last night we just picked up and decided on one order of egg rolls and a small pork fried rice. The egg rolls where good id say 7 on the egg roll meter, maybe they were a little on the small side. The highlight of the egg roll was the home made sweet and sour sauce. The pork fried rice was very good though very flavorful fresh and tasty and the small container was packed full. I think the local secret is always order small as it’s more then enough for 2 and probably 4. Have I had better Chinese, yes, but basing on whats available in the hood its pretty good.

I’m another customer who was a longtime — and very pleased — customer of New Jeanny’s…but after the change-over to Jin Asian Café, the quality went downhill. What used to be PERFECT eggrolls suddenly became mediocre at best. Now you can’t get any soup without it being littered with green onions.(Yuck!!!) Even the fried rice started to suck — now it’s ruined with more peas than anything, really taking the flavor away from every other ingredient. Really, the only thing on the menu that hasn’t gotten worse is the pot stickers. And just try to get duck sauce. You’re lucky if you get one packet, and you practically have to put a gun to someone’s head to get more than one for a group of four diners. It’s sad. I’ve been a New Jeanny’s customer for years. I know the staff didn’t change because they still recognize my voice when I call(which will be no longer, btw). The name changed, and the quality was defenestrated. I can think of only two positive things to say, and it’s not about the food: 1) Despite what a couple of the reviews have said, I found that delivery was lightning-fast, as it always had been with New Jeanny’s, and 2) They still deliver to Edgewater; I know of a pizza joint not even a mile and a half away that says Edgewater is too far! But again, this is irrelevant as I am now looking for a new Chinese place to patronize… …unless Jin Asian Café can guarantee that they are going back to the old ways.

DONOT order delivery from here. After almost 2 hours of waiting, I have cancelled my order and plan to give the manager a piece of my mind. That is definitely the last time I trust GrubHub ratings and/or order food from somewhere without any Unilocal reviews. I was waiting more than an hour for my order, which I find unreasonable already — considering I used to work at a Chinese restaurant and I know that the food I ordered should not have taken so long to cook and deliver. After another hour of waiting, and being told by the restaurant *twice* that the food was«on the way,» I also received a call from a woman who accidentally received my order. The delivery driver calls me, sounding confused — he tells me that the food was bagged incorrectly at the restaurant and it was delivered to a different address. He has no idea whether or not I can get my food. He seems upset to be ‘caught in the middle’ of the messup at the restaurant. I’m extremely disappointed, not just because I didn’t get my food, but because of the poor business practices. No one at the restaurant called to apologize for the mixup. The delivery driver was forced to do this and he didn’t have any answers for me. Definitely never ordering from here again.
