Made a reservation which I recommend because the place was busy. Helpful, attentive staff. Had a few drinks and they have an amazing beer menu. Shared an order of the Titanic Truffle Tots(8 $ and amazing — seriously order). Ordered one order of wings that were split PJ&J and Poncho-included 8 wings total in an order and around 12 $. PB ones we didn’t care for… sauce was like you were eating peanut butter out of the jar. Jelly was too sweet. Poncho were grilled and delicious. Great flavor! Ordered another order shared of Firecracker and XXX. Firecracker had the best sauce of all and the XXX were seriously hotter than shit. My boyfriend one wing in was sweating and acting drunk from the heat. He also complained all last night and today his ass has been on fire(glad I passed on them). I have had better wings before so I wouldn’t hurry back but they were alright. Boyfriend said basically the same review as I did other than his XXX aftermath woes. Wings are good sized which is a perk instead of those toddler sized ones that you need 20 of.

Four people enjoy two poncho chicken wing and cost 7.5 dollar per person. I was led by my friend and she said this is the best chicken wing in Chicago but the only flavor could eat is poncho haha

Wings wings and WINGS! Love coming here to satisfy my chicken cravings. Jake Melnick’s is an unassuming sports bar with a family friendly atmosphere that knows how to cook up some real mean chicken. Personally I’ve been on a grilled wing kick as of late so I would recommend the poncho wings; you can’t go wrong whatever you get though! For first timers — don’t be afraid to ask! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Food is absolutely delicious. Service is also quite legit. It can be a great spot for a few craft beers while watching the game. It can get really busy on the weekends around dinnertime. The parmesan garlic fries are serious business as are the wings and BBQ sandwiches.

Me and the hubby went here after a day of shopping. Our waiter was very nice and lively, he made our experience wonderful. We split a burger and some buffalo wings. They were very yummy and flavorful! We also got some of the nachos, the nachos were a great size and almost too much to eat! The meal was super good and the service was even better. this is a good food option for anyone in the downtown Chicago area.

Easily the best wings I’ve ever had! I love that they do a new, special wing flavor every month. My boyfriend once did the super spicy wing challenge, which is super fun! They bring you a firefighter helmet and everything. Cute. The wings were crazy spicy but also delicious. This place is super popular so expect them to be crowded no matter when you go. However, despite the crowds I have always managed to be seated promptly, which is a huge plus. The hostesses can be kind of rude, though.

Sitting here right now, in Chicago on a work trip. Lucked out as it’s 2 blocks from my hotel. Wings are the real deal. Had the traditional medium — little heat, great flavor. The beer menu is extensive to say the least, and the staff knows about all of them. Great place to watch a game. If I’m in Chitown again, definitely making a return trip.

I must say that eating here 3 more times definitely changed my mind about this place. Incredible turnaround from the first time i had visited. Not sure what happened the first time around, but the wings are delicious, great heat on the spicy buffalo wings. Beer selection has always impressed me, overall a great place. Also not as loud as other bars in the area, though it does get busy, its a great place to have fun!

Stopped in for lunch around 1pm. Not busy at all. Got seated promptly and even got a seat by the windows street side. Great for people watching. I had the loaded pigskins. They were«ok». You really really really have to like BBQ sauce. Way too much for me. But service was great and I’m glad I stopped in.

I’ve been to Jakes twice, and each time it has been quite good. The atmosphere is great for watching games, and they have an excellent rotating craft beer menu, and a special beer of the month. The staff are friendly and helpful. The wings are their staple, which my friend seemed to enjoy. I couldn’t decide on pulled pork or brisket sandwich, so the Sloppy Pig had the best of all worlds including pulled pork, brisket and chicken. And it was quite good. We also enjoyed the fried pickles and beer battered onion rings as a starter(yeah, not the most healthy, but we were 3 hungry guys). I definitely would come back if in the neighborhood.

This place is a fun lively place to go after work. The beer list is good, I had the Allagash 16 counties on draft and it was delicious. Definitely come here for the wings– the combo with the spicy traditional and the poncho is a perfect. The spicy wings had a nice crunch and were just spicy enough. The poncho wings are grilled and very different than traditional buffalo wings. I recommend squeezing the lemon on them. The combo comes with both a ranch and blue cheese sauce on the side. I also tried some of the mac and cheese. This rotates every month, when I was there it had spring vegetables and goat cheese, also an awesome combination.

What a fun place to watch a game! There is an extensive beer list which covers pretty much every type of beer you can possibly imagine. If there is any question, just ask the bartenders who are really knowledgeable and want to help find the right drink for you. The fries and burgers are great and my vegetarian friend was raving about the veggie burger. There is also an outdoor patio which is hard to find in this part of town, especially at this affordable price range. It’s chill vibe reminds me of places I went in college.

This restaurant is very cool. If you want delicious chicken wings, ribs, sweet potatoe chips or nachos and burgers this is the right place for you. Service is good, but this restaurant is very full, you must have a reservation, because you can wait about one hour, than they have free table for you. The food is amazing and extra large portion. They have a great selection of beer.

Nothing tops off TEXANBBQ but this place rocked my world tonight! The Barbecue is nice and smoked to perfection! As I forked it, the meat was so tender, juicy and the Barbecue sauce is very tasty. They also have three different types of barbecue sauces. The French fries were a little bit over cooked so I was not that thrilled about their fries. The Cole slaw portion was small but OHSOTASTY! I really enjoyed the ambiance and it has a wood cabin kind of feel. I am looking forward to warmer weather to come back and check out their patio. This time my husband and I shared the big plate of brisket and a side order of their Texas Toast but when we come back, we surely try the Ribs and a few other items on the menu. I’ll stay off the fried and double of the coke slaw.

My scale: 5 Stars: I recommend this without any exceptions. I will come back(more than once) and bring friends! 4 Stars: I recommend this under certain circumstances. Worth going, but ONE thing was off. 3 Stars: I was ok, but in a city like Chicago you can find better places. I wouldn’t come back. 2 Stars: Disappointed. I wouldn’t come back, even if it was the last place in Chicago. 1 Star: Don’t go here! Rip-off, Tourist-trap, dangerous, or something like this. Please close this place. Pros: — Amazing wings! They do taste really great. — Service was fun and personal as well. — «Hottest wings in the world» were really hot… really hot. It still hurts. They were hot… oh god. Cons: — I had to order twice in order to get full. Therefore, I spent almost $ 20 on chicken wings. I think that is too expensive for wings.

Solid sports pub type place up near river north/gold coast, most places in that area are pretty ritzy and expensive but this is a bit more casual, I’ve had the Parmesan fries, spinach artichoke dip, bread pudding and 2 of their beer cocktails, the alagash white and lemonade, and the bluth banana, which was pretty amazing and creative, great for outdoor seating once it’s warm again

My friend and I decided to give this place a try while waiting on our hotel room for a bite to eat and some beer to drink. Atmosphere: really cozy! I really liked the home feel when walking inside. Very lodge like and country feel to the place. Warm inside as well but loved that. The decorations were nice as well and gave the place what it needed. Staff: really nice people. Didn’t have anything bad to say about anyone I can into contact with. Food: we enjoyed our food. Specifically, I loved my ranch french fries. They were a dry rub seasoning to the fries that were absolutely delicious. And not to mention the two dipping sauces it came with were tasty. I enjoyed the mayo/ketchup like one that was their«special sauce». The wings were nice sized boneless and had very good flavor. Beer: it’s not hard to get beer wrong obviously but they had a nice selection for a little bbq place. I would definitely stop by again.

Came here to satisfy a big wing craving and they did not disappoint! Some of the juiciest wings I’ve ever had. Traditional hot wings(spicy) — Very juicy! Buffalo sauce was tangy and had a good deep flavor. I was expecting them to be a little spicier though. The spicy chicken sandwich at Chick Fil A is spicier. The wings also lacked a bit of crunch on the skin. Otherwise, they are some very tasty wings and I can’t wait to try other flavors. Fried pickles — My favorite of the night. I admit, I love me some fried pickles. These were sliced longwise instead of the usual across, optimizing the batter to pickle ratio. The batter was delicious — a light, airy beer batter. The beer selection is also really good. I had one of the gose with my meal and I loved it(sorry forgot the name, but it was the first of the gose in the menu)

Stumbled across this place in March whilst looking for the Jonathan Adler shop. It was around lunch so we took a chance and moseyed in. Best detour ever! The food, the drinks, the staff are all awesome beyond measure. Our server(whose name I forget, unfortunately) was super-nice and helpful and gave us recommendations on which of the 18 zillion craft beers to try. We opted for the daily special — the mystery beer. It was really fun — a random craft beer served in a hobo-esque brown paper bag! Delicious. The barbecue here is immense — absolutely delicious and falling off the bone. The cornbread was a little dry but all in all, we were really impressed by the standard of this pub food and we were a little peeved we only had time to eat here once on our visit! Don’t pass Jake’s by, you’ll regret it!

Hah, sicker than your average(bar food!) I met a huge group of friends here for dinner and drinks the other night and was definitely impressed. I tried their homemade shandy which was delicious — I highly recommend if you like shandies. My boyfriend and I decided to share two dinner plates, which we typically do so we can try a little of everything. He got the pulled pork plate with fries and coleslaw. Talk about yum! The meat was incredibly tender and pretty much melted in your mouth. I opted for the chicken tenders with buffalo sauce, coleslaw, and mac n cheese. I thought the tenders were tossed in the sauce but they came naked — which wasn’t a big deal at all. Both platters were so awesome — we left feeling stuffed and happy. Also — the service was perfect. It was a busy Saturday night and we had a larger party but our server made sure he was always checking on us. Overall, the vibe of this bar is very neighborhood-y and better than other places around the Streeterville/Gold Coast area.

The Firecracker wings and Traditional Buffalo(medium spicy) are super delicious! The Sangria was yummy. The fries were delicious. The chocolate chip cookie on a skillet with ice cream and whipped cream was SOGOOD. Service is amazing. We had 2 different servers. They were attentive and seemed mindful of letting us take our time. It took a while for us to get our check — they only gave it to us when we asked for it. I wonder if it took a while to get our check because my Sangria was still half full and maybe they were waiting for me to finish it? I’m not sure, but the server recommended the chocolate chip cookie dessert and it was amazing. She wasn’t pushy about it, either. I also like how the other server had a whole line of pens in his apron because it means he’s prepared. When they refilled our water, they also placed a new lemon in it! We were quoted to have a 20-minute wait for outdoor seating but then got a text 5 minutes later that a seat was available. We were about 2 blocks away and walked all the way back only to find that we were offered an indoor table. However, someone else checked outdoor seating and it just so happened that an outdoor table was available, so we ended up sitting outside. I like that it was well-lit outside and the hanging string lights create a comfortable atmosphere. Outdoor tables are wooden. Hand wipes are on the table. Ketchup and mustard are on the table. I’d love to come back here again to get the wings, fries, and chocolate chip cookie dessert. Servers are super nice and patient so I’d come back for that as well. Hostess is accommodating and flexible.

Jake’s is my go to place for wings and sports games in Chicago. It will get super crowded for football games, but they’re great at accommodating everyone. One time I came to watch the Packer game, and there were like 3 other games going on at the same time, so when we checked in they asked us what game we wanted to watch. When we were seated, we were right by a TV with the Packers game. Great service! And this place obviously gets crowded for Blackhawks games. I was here for a few play off games, and the bar seats quickly filled up 45 minutes before game time. So just be ready to wait if you come in the middle of a busy game day. Every time I come here I get the same thing — the firecracker wings. They’re so good that I can’t get myself to get anything else. They’re deep-fried first, so they’re nice and crispy, and then they’re smothered in a sweet and spicy sauce. These are not little chicken wings either — these are some nice, meaty wings. And from what I’ve seen, all the portions here are very generous. The beer menu here is pretty extensive, and they usually have a featured seasonal special. Prices are pretty comparable to other places in the city, with a pint at around $ 6 – 9.
