very friendly and the food is always good. Thank you for having vegetarian options.

Wonderful drinks! My bartender, Marguerte(pronounced mar-ger-reet), was so knowledgeable about ever cocktail they had there and she let me sample all their beers, all though they were not that good, without giving me a judging face! I had the«Bourbon Cin» with margeret’s recommendation and it was WONDERFUL! I am such a Manhattan fan, and their«Battle of the Manhattan» with cherry vanilla bourbon bitters was good, but I am SO happy she suggested this drink to me! i came here for a half day at work and I really liked all their craft cocktails. The beer was just so-so, but those cocktails were wonderful and my service there with the bartender Marguerite was fabulous. If i am out in the area, I will return, and will tell my friends to check out this place as well!

I am truly a fan of this place. I had never heard of it before but pleasantly surprised by the fresh and flavorful food. Their sweet potato fries are so good I wish I had an order of them right now. The staff was wonderful and made us feel like we were at an old friend’s house. I say bring your appetite and try a few things when you go and if you go with friends get a few items so that you can taste several things on their menu. I didn’t get a chance to taste any of their Beer that they brew at the restaurant if I’m not mistaken but I will try it next time for sure. If you are in the neighborhood you should try this place I don’t think you will be disappointed. Enjoy!!!

Kid friendly restaurant and brewery. Great selection of craft beers and local spirits. Aside from its great décor, the restaurant carries local paintings which are available for purchase. As for the food, my favorite is the Cuban sandwich. An upscale version of South Florida’s best know sandwich — the secret is the smoked pork. Clean coupled with great service. Delicious and enjoy responsibly!

Decent bbq and decent beers. Pulled pork nachos and sweet potato fries are killer though!

That was the best pulled pork sandwich I ever had. The service was excellent and the ambiance was spot on. I had the sandwich with the fries and those were great too! They roast their own coffee and I loved it. Didn’t have a beer but everyone knows they are second to none in that department. This is great for the Southside and should be taken care of by the neighborhood.

I’m a bit of a Craft beer nerd, so naturally I’ve been here a number of times. Each time ordered a different beer and different sandwich. Beers, had almost all of them, are excellent. Even if you’re not an avid craft beer drinker, you’ll find something you like. The sandwiches are awesome too. Think I’ve tried just about every one. Think one was called fat chef, then tried a turkey burger the last time, it was nice and juicy as it should be. Overall: Definitely recommend, enough said.

She wore a green beret… ok so it’s the beer name. Try it. It’s awesome. Not bitter, but very very smooth. Good for cold weather but also would be fantastic in the summer months. Had the spinach burger… it was good but definitely lacking something… definitely ask for double onions and perhaps mayo. Weird combo, mayo & spinach but again, the sandwich lacked something… Great service at the bar — Kelsey is super nice. And for you gentlemen reading this review, very easy on the eyes.

After going tonight, I had to update and give the fifth star. My father in law got steak and it was delicious, which was surprising for a «brew pub». I also forgot they are the only place around here that has horseshoes which are a favorite from my college days down south. They’re a pretty good substitute. They still make the attempt to be more«upscale» than most bars, but at least the food is good! The beer was much better than any time we’ve gone in the past. Clearly getting better with time.

This is my favorite place to drink in the neighborhood. I have been here multiple times and have tried a handful of food and drink items. Their beer is solid and they have a good selection of whiskeys. What more could you ask for? Well I am yet to be disappointed by anything I have eaten. I have tried the southwest egg rolls, pretzel bites, burger, wild boar burger, and crab cakes. All of this is good eatin’ The pretzel bites come with a queso sauce, but unlike other places I have been to that serve a queso, this doesn’t taste like they dumped a tostitos jar upside down. Crab cakes are amazing. Definitely my favorite thing on the menu. For bonus points they were serving a beer called CFD1676 where a dollar from every pint sold went towards the family of a fallen firefighter. Very cool. Very awesome brewery/bar/restaurant.

This is a great place, with friendly, personal service, and some very delicious spicy chili! If you are visiting Saint Xavier, this is a great, close place to add something simple and conforting to your day. They are family friendly and you can choose to sit on the restaurant or the bar side. Delicious.

Horse Thief Hollow has been on my list of places to check out because I love great beer, but Beverly has always seemed so far away. On a visit to Chicago over the holidays, we finally made the trek down there to check it out. Our friend, who is a Beverly native, said that this is really the only place worth going in the area. The atmosphere of the place seems a little off – they have a huge wooden antique bar that doesn’t quite fit in, weird art on the walls, and a marked boundary between the bar and the dining area that is a bit awkward. Anyway, we weren’t there for the ambiance, but the beer. They were out of several beers that we wanted to try, so we’d make a selection and then be told they were out of it. This was a bit disappointing. There were one or two beers that I really enjoyed. If you’re in the area and like craft beer, you probably want to check out Horse Thief Hollow.

This is one of the best brewery-restaurants I’ve been to in awhile. Two days ago my son and I were in the area photographing local murals, including the one on the side of Horse Thief. I couldn’t drink with him in tow so I vowed to come back. Well, tonight after wrapping up the Chicago Auto Show that opportunity became possible, so we gave HTH a shot. The food menu in itself is enough to draw me in. Add the fact that they’re a brewery and you have my undivided attention. I sat down to the Hen House BLT and a well cultivated flight this evening. I had half of the flight prior to dinner which included the Cocovore, Purple Cow and American Stout. The end caps were average but I really enjoyed the Purple Cow. Very smooth milk stout with great flavor. Dinner came and on first sight the piece of Texas toast with BLT topping and an egg to boot looked mouth watering. It didn’t disappoint… that’s my kind of sandwich! After inhaling the thing in record time I pushed the plate and pulled the flight rack near. This time I took aim at Hollow Ground, Santa Secret Stout(a seasonal brew) and 18th Rebellion. All three of these were well above average and the Santa was flat out phenomenal. It’s a peppermint mocha stout and easily one of a kind. Aside from the food and beer HTH has a great setup. I liked the divided seating and local art that adorned the walls. If you’re an architecture connoisseur you’ll also enjoy the ceiling woodwork. Service here was with a smile and knowledgeable. Our waitress wanted to pick out my flight choices for me, but I had to get my two cents in first. We’re over an hour away but I’d easily come back in a heartbeat. I highly recommend HTH. one of the best breweries in Chicago. Cheers!

I live on the north side where there are the most restaurants and concepts. This place in particular I’m a big fan of. The ambiance is super cool and the deco of the place is great. That vintage feel along great drinks and food is a great combination. The wait staff is super nice and attentive. I highly recommend this place. It’s is sensibly priced also. Keep up the good work.

What happened? Went for lunch on a Saturday it was very slow. Our waiter was some young teen who kept forgetting our drinks. It took 20mins for each beer to hit our table after we reminded him. He was too busy talking the hostess who was zombie like and unwelcoming. We ordered the burgers and they were very very bad! They were burnt and they barely put lettuce, tomato or an onion on it… Sweet potato fries are still great and beer. Looks like maybe they hired family kids to serve and wow do they do a lousy job… Not going back… sadly

Spinach salad is really good! It had spinach(obviously), goat cheese, chicken, pickled onions, bacon(mmm) and a good balsamic vinaigrette. I was really pleasantly surprised with how delicious the meal was The service is interesting. Kinda distant and uncomfortable to talk to. I didn’t get asked much or get many recommendations. Drinks were ok. The restaurant is very standard with nothing décor-wise that stood out to me.

I’m not from the south side, but we recently met up here with my in-laws for Sunday lunch as it is a good halfway point. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back, but it’s a decent option in the area. Service did not start out well for us. Our temporary server would disappear for 10 – 15 minutes at a time. There were probably only 3 other tables in there at the time, so I’m not really sure what took so long. Eventually they switched or something and the next guy was much better. Unfortunately the long waits at the beginning kind of soured the experience a little. Food was good, but on the average side. The biggest bummer, really, is the lack of brunch options. I’m not really a beer person so I can’t speak too much on that.

As a consumer of craft beer, I appreciate HTH a lot because they still maintain normalcy in a scene which has gotten creepy, weird, and too big. When I want to enjoy some decent brews without all the hype and overzealous craft beer silliness, this place definitely comes to mind. My most recent trip here was for the release of their first bottled beer, a barrel-aged stout called«Bad Mama Jama». There was a limit of 2 per person. It predictably lured in those mouth-breathing, self-appointed«beer gurus» who hoard such bottles of beer rather than drinking them. Like the creep that hovered over us, for example, trying to small talk us into giving up some of our allotment so he could get more than his 2 bottles. Oh, & his shithead friend who went home to change his clothes to disguise himself so he could get more than his limit. People like this can go dangle. I don’t blame HTH for these vermin. They’re a seemingly humble place that offers something different for the Beverly neighborhood. They may not feature the holy grail of beers, but they are legit. As is the food. I’ve yet to have a bad meal. I’d recommend their Cuban sandwich, the soft pretzel with an amazing cheese dip I could put on anything, and their wings. An must when this far south.
