Love this place for Red Wing games– it’s always for the boys! The wait staff is great and very accommodating!

We had our annual company part here, and they went out of there way to make it a great night! Mary Alice and Steve are the NICEST people ever. They(and the other bartenders and the DJ) were incredibly attentive. Great customer service! I never had to wait for a drink. The food was delicious. And the staff seemed genuinely happy to be helping us. Will continue to reach out to Hi-Tops for future events. Thank you, Hi-tops!

Hi-Tops is run by some of the nicest most generous people in Lincoln Park. The Apollo does our annual holiday party there and this year Mary Alice and Steve went out of their way to make sure the event was perfect. They had wonderful people working, made sure the Apollo staff was happy, and even opened for us on a night that they were closed. If you are looking for a place to hold a party, I would highly recommend reaching out to the kind people at Hi-Tops. And if you are looking for just a nice place to have a few drinks and watch some games on their great tv’s, you should check out Hi-Tops!

A group of six of us went to Hi-Tops to watch the MSU play in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Day. Much to our surprise, the bar had less than 20 people in it. We were able to quickly find a table, but that was where our luck ended. It took us a while to get a server. She got us a pitcher of water — but there were weird black specks in the water so we had to send it back. Then, our waitress came back to take our orders, oddly, not writing anything down. We were impressed, wondering how much of what we got would be correct. The meals came out at all different times, the first being within ten minutes, the last being completely forgotten. None of the burgers were cooked correctly and the wings were over-fried. Eventually we asked about the last outstanding meal. She had forgot to put it in. I guess we judged her memory abilities too early. There are many other, better MSU bars in Chicago. For a fun, game-time experience, I would not recommend coming to this one.

Worst bar in Chicago, will never again come to Hi tops! Food was cold, service was terrible and the server was drinking behind the bar. To top it off There was a 3 inch glass shard in our beer and instead of apologizing the manager and bartender proceeded to accuse us of putting the piece of glass in the beer. Along with communicating to the entire bar that we «were con artists and we’re trying to get our meal for free». Very disrespectful and will never go to Hi tops again.

And why was I here? It’s a Detroit bar and I’m a Detroit girl so it seemed like a likely place to catch a Lions game on a recent Sunday afternoon. The place was packed so if you want a seat to watch the game– go early! We were able to snag a table and service was a bit slow as they had only one server for the entire place. Prices are relatively cheap as well so that’s a good thing. But it is REALLYLOUD in the place so cover your ears when the commercials play! I guess they are also a Michigan State bar which offended my U of M sensibilities but I probably could have gotten over that if the Lions orTigers on this day had won. But they didn’t. But on a positive note? Street parking on Lincoln is free on Sundays. See? There is always something to be positive about!

My friends and I stopped into Hi-Tops late on a Friday night because we noticed it was pretty dead and we figured we could take over a few tables to play some games. The bartenders were happy to oblige, which was great! We enjoyed a couple rounds of drinks and games with no issues until it all came to a screeching halt about 20 minutes before closing time. The bouncer came over and told us that we had to leave immediately. We were pretty confused, as the bar wasn’t supposed to close for another few minutes and people in the group had just bought another round of beers. When we tried to figure out why exactly they were closing early, we were greeted with«because we are.» Real mature guys. I still have no idea why we were kicked out, but there’s way too many cheap dive bars for me to ever consider going back here.

We wandered into Hi-Tops around midnight on a Friday night and the place was mostly deserted. But, the allure of cheap beer, ping pong balls, and plastic cups was too strong to ignore. And, as a group of 9 kicking off a weekend of 30th birthday celebrations, we had no issue bringing the party along with us to this empty dive. What DID end up being an issue was the manager on duty on this particular night… Despite accounting for 100% of their business for an hour and a half on a weekend night, he abruptly decided to close the bar 20 minutes early and demand we leave, literally 30 seconds after watching the one(very nice) bartender on hand sell us $ 50 worth of $ 3 beer pints. We were respectful and(well!) paying customers, and he offered absolutely no reasoning for the brash decision. Not cool, dude. Will not be back.

As a Michigan person, I love having a Michigan State & Detroit bar in the area. This bar is huge too and the staff is always friendly. A great place to watch a Michigan State or Detroit game. Not sure I’d come here for anything else. The food is ok, your typical bar food. I would typically get the chicken wings. They usually have really good drink specials for games. Free popcorn as well. All in all, fun bar with cheap drinks to come watch a game.

This place was a decent stop to watch playoff hockey and basketball. The drinks were cheap, but not very good. They kept the windows open, which was not that great when people outside were screaming or smoking. Also, this place was pretty dead for a Saturday night overall, which had kind of a depressing feel. Fine to stop for a drink and watch a game, but I wouldn’t stay for too long or expect to have too much fun.

This place absolutely sucks. Came for the opening Detroit Lions game, bar is full with several dozen people to watch the game annnd there were two people working. Waited 20 minutes for service and got none. The back bar was filled with people, except there was no bartender working back there. On top of that, one of the big TVs was playing Notre Dame-North Carolina college soccer… I’m not kidding. I asked the waitress to turn the Lions game on, being that it’s a Lions bar and all, and she refused because it was the«special TV.» So despite the fact that not a single person was watching it, she decided college soccer was just too important. Will watch Lions games some place else from now on.

Did you know this bar has free popcorn and specials that include jungle juice and 40 oz. Friday’s? Now you do. They have a DJ spinning in the middle of the bar and specials pretty much every night of the week. Good service, busy but not horribly crowded usually, except if a game’s on.

Not the classiest place around, but we knew that going into it. Drinks: On Thursdays they have $ 1 beers; beware, they are the kind that come in the tiny plastic cups where it’s easy to drink too many because you lose track. I don’t know what was in their beer but it gave me a terrible hangover. Food: Pretty good, not great. I had the pulled pork sandiwch which was very bready and was supposed to come on a brioche but didn’t. They have waffle fries which were average but made me happy because of their shape. Service: friendly and attentive on a crowded night. This place definitely fills up. Got some good practice in on the shuffleboard.
