This place is incredible! I felt extremely awesome because I didn’t understand 99% of labels, markings, and signs.
By the way, that really wasn’t a sarcastic comment. I can care less whether or not English is the primary language used or spoken in any place. Herman Deli has a very extensive selection on soups, stews, entrees, side dishes, sausages, and other meat products. They also carry some light grocery items just in case you need to restock them.
I don’t speak Polish at all, but I felt just fine. My Asian look and stature stood out in the crowd, yet who cares? I could only understand «flaczki,» meaning «tripe» from the soup section in the refrigerator. While I was browsing through their deli counter, I lost my queue in the «imaginary» line leading to the register. Once again, it was what it was.
I pointed to what I wanted, and might not have any clue with the contents. I would try everything and eventually figure out what they are and remember their names in Polish.
They do accept Visa and MasterCard cards, uncertain if there is a minimum purchase requirement. I had some spare cash so it didn’t matter as much.

Been shopping here for years. Great selection & all good. Don’t forget cake on way out behind cash register. Tried many & this is best Polish grocery, butcher in Chicago.

The bomb. Full line of everything Polish that you would ever want to eat, fresh, frozen, jarred and canned. Had a lovely crisp fresh sandwich made to order.
Polish Belmont is really struggling. Half the stores are closed. But this one is standing strong.

Ordered a smoked WHOLE pig for a party of 50 people, half Polish half American. FABULOUS!!! Juicy, extremely tender, crispy skin, beautifully presented on a platter filled with fruit. Not over powering smoke flavor or saltiness as I’ve encountered before. Small charge to deliver but worth it. We carved on own (with help from online directions), and served in pieces in a large pan. Really doesnt matter if you mess up carving bc every piece is delicious. Served with buns for traditional pork sandwiches but most ate straight. Do NOT ruin with bbq sauce! Also ordered traditional sauerkraut with sausage and roasted potatoes. Sauerkraut was cooked to perfection! Even picky palates went for seconds. VERY reasonably priced for quality in comparison to other places. This is a small Polish deli with really fresh food and typical ethic groceries.
