Al is the best! I was referred to Al by a friend. From start to finish, Al was wonderful! I called to make an appointment and scheduled the appointment for two days later. awesome. My appointment was scheduled for 10:30 and Al showed up right at 10:30. My initial appointment was to have a mirror and some pictures hung. Al made it look so easy. He did a great job and asked my opinion every step of the way. Al also noticed that i needed some painting finished. I had big aspirations to paint my apartment. I was about half done and realized how tough painting really is! Al to the rescue! Al asked if I would like him to finish the pain job! Ummmm… Al is my hero! Al finished the paint job and again made it look easy!
On top of it all, Al is extremely nice and personable. Service with a smile should be his motto. :)

July 4^th weekend. massive storms… backyard is like a lake. all that water decided it has to go somewhere, why not my basement. Now I have 2 feet of standing water in my gross basement. Mechanicals a re destroyed furniture is floating around. A real mess. Not only do I have a real mess, but my tenants have no hot water and I need help quickly.
It’s a holiday though and nobody wants to help. Insurance loopholes its way out of this one, my usual guys are out of town. Luckily my super tenant starts asking around and his CTA bus driver has a neighbor who might be able to help.
Enter Al of Helping Handyman Work
This was a messy job, that I was trying to manage from overseas and I am so grateful that Al’s neighbor drives a CTA bus because he totally came through. He and his crew were communicative, always on time and happy to do a pretty messy and complicated job. In the end Helping Handyman Work did the following:
Purchased /​delivered & installed 2 new water heaters
Demo’d an old deck
Remediated a wet /​damp basement (cutting out dry wall, bleaching impacted areas)
Identified the root cause for my water (deteriorated foundation)
Fixed the foundation
Rebuilt a stair case
Hauled away all junk
They did this all within a week and at a very competitive price.
I am so grateful to have met Al. He really came through when we needed him. He is an honest guy who will give you a good price on good work. He will be my first call next time I need any help.
