I love Haystack. It’s a little hit or miss but I definitely love the everchanging environment of the store and all the odds and ends. One time they were even selling old photographs and letters for a dollar — just very different from any other consignment/vintage store I have been to. They are also much cheaper than most vintage stores around the city that charge you $ 40 for a twenty year old dirty t-shirt.

ALWAYS something interesting. Probably one of my favorite stores in the city simply because when I come in there is always something interesting around. Usually the things I like are a bit pricey, but I have bought a few unique pieces here. I feel like they tend to head towards the pricier range usually, but ANY place that allows you to haggle is easily put to the top of my list. Stop in one day. If you don’t like something, come back a month later and I guarantee you will find something completely different. The employees are quiet, but friendly, and I’ve never been treated rudely.

This shop is fabulous. It’s well organized and full of high quality finds. They a small selection of everything, clothes, décor, knock knacks, hats, shoes, furniture, bags, etc. etc. etc. My faves being there HUGE selection of vintage hats and case of quirky salt and pepper shakers. The sales lady was super helpful too. She knew what was vintage and what was not and could tell you about the piece you were looking at. I will definitely put this place on my list of shops I heart.

As a librarian I need to keep up on my fashion– you know stay in step with the 1950s… Haystack to the rescue. Just bought an embroidered blouse«Hecho en Mexico» circa«I Iove Lucy» that will make my wardrobe snap. It’s those little accent pieces I look for, and that Haystack has in abundance. Along with bits of dream-like local arts and crafts that make you feel as if you need, must have a book folded in a multitude of ways to render it… a work of art. That and they have hats, shoes, bags, bikes, baubles, buttons and probably your mother’s marching baton from the 1960s. Reasonably priced, but isn’t dressing with style and cleverness priceless? Even invaluable to your soul? Visit today.

Typewriters, old photographs, vintage furniture, clothes, and boxes upon boxes of lil’ miscellaneous chotchkies. My favorite purchase thus far has been an old picnic basket, very Wizard of Oz :) and only 20 bucks! Be prepared to browse and lose yourself in all the fun details :)

I had reservations about this place before because it took over my favorite liquor store that carried my hard to find peach beer. I walked in one day after hiting up buffalo exchange and i loved the ambiance from the beginning. Its not just clothes but bikes, vintage household items, buttons, furniture, artwork — you name it. It was a whole clusterf*ck of stuff organized/scattered in the most eye pleasing way I have ever seen. There is alot of stuff — so be prepared so get sidetracked, wander, and explore. I purchased a small black and white bridge photo for $ 10 and I would have bought more if I hadn’t blown all my cash across the street. The downside — there was one girl working and she was not friendly. Unlike at Buffalo Exchange across the street where I think they are always nice even when the store is crammed to the max with people — this girl was the opposite. She was talking to a friend when I walked in who left shortly after I entered the store. She didn’t say hi, greet me or anything, though looked up to see me enter. Even when I was fumbling around with buttons by the cash register it was like I was invisible. My favorite thing about small shops is the friendly unique people that work there. Here not so much. Hopefully she only works part-time.

I love the layout here, I could easily spend an hour in this tiny store, checking out every nook and cranny. They have an eclectic mix of true vintage stuff like old suitcases, tea cups, dresses, shoes, and a super cute daisy print jacket that sadly was too big for me, along with some new stuff like the $ 15 t-shirt my husband scored, and some stuff that is more like what you’d find in any resale shop(if it’s only 2 years old, it’s not vintage, it’s just used). Some of the stuff was on the pricier side and while a fraction of that may have been worth it, the xhileration brand shirt for $ 20(which was probably it’s orginal price at Target) was not. I found the perfect peacock feathered hat for my Halloween costume, but it wasn’t priced and the woman working said she couldn’t sell it without checking with the owner. Dan stopped back in the next day and was able to talk her down from $ 45(which I think was overpriced) to $ 15, since some of the feathers were missing. I like a place where you can haggle!

Very different. In a good way. I stopped in just to check it out one day as I was walking by. A ton of neat vintage paraphernalia. Anything from clothing to teacups to shoes to records. Everything is placed on tables, in drawers, on the walls, etc… and I believe just about everything is for sale. I had to circle the store 3 times to make sure I saw mostly everything, because it’s easy to miss some cute treasures. I didn’t make any purchases, but would have if I had a need for some of the things that really caught my eye. The staff was friendly. Check it out :)

It’s a fun store. Definitely very random from day to day, you never know what’s going to be in there. Luckily, they had exactly what was I was looking for on the day I stopped in! They had a great collection of dresses from the 50’s. And, all dresses were on sale for $ 20. Can’t beat that. The staff was very helpful too — she took the time to help me look through their belts(even though they didn’t have exactly what I needed). Now I can be authentic at the 50’s bowling party I’m going to tonight and travel in thrift and style.
