I dislike writing a less than average review, since Brian is a really nice guy… but we really should have read the fine print better. We hired Brian to photograph our May 2011 wedding at Café Brauer, I was disappointed in the photographs we received later…
Positives:
Great to work with — flexible and open to suggestions
Dependable, showed up on time
All pictures were given to us on a DvD with the digital files that I could photo-​edit and send to print elsewhere
Negatives:
Missed some important shots that I was looking for — absolutely no photographs of our rings, there were more pictures of our wedding guests than my husband and I (my husband’s cousin, an amateur photographer captured more photographs of us together than our paid photographer), in most of the pictures my eyes were closed or I was doing something awkward, very little direction when he was taking pictures of our families/​wedding party
Very little photo-​editing
I think the main reason why I was unhappy with our pictures was because his «candid» style was very different than what I was looking for. I was looking for artistic shots to capture candid moments that hopefully capture the emotion of the day. Instead we got very awkward photographs that were definitely «candid» — just not flattering shots of either my husband or I.
For the price we paid, I was extremely disappointed. Thankfully our guests all had digital cameras, and we got great candid photographs from our friends and family.
