Wasn’t really impressed, given the strong reviews. Did not personally experience the supposed friendliness of the owners. I ordered two tacos on a Tuesday right before 1PM. They were made while I waited, about 15 minutes. Total came out to just under $ 5. Besides meat, the tacos come with lettuce, onion, cilantro, and tomato. They were pretty dense, each the size of a mini burrito maybe. The al pastor tasted fine, nothing special. I couldn’t finish it after encountering some weird crunching, which I suspected was cartilage or tendon. Not my favorite. The carne asada was slightly better, though pretty bland as well. At least it was just meat with no surprises. I had to douse both tacos with hot sauce, which was surprisingly good, since I hate tabasco. The corn tortilla was also weirdly soggy, not oily soggy but just wet. Finally, I suspect it made me a little sick. The tacos did not come with cheese, which is fine for a lactose intolerant like me. However, that evening I felt like I had eaten a ton of cheese, though there definitely wasn’t any in my tacos! So I wonder what mystery ingredient caused that reaction. Since I don’t really care to find out, I won’t be venturing back. Especially since tacos are only $ 1.40−1.60 at Taqueria San Jose, though they aren’t as large and don’t come with as many veggie toppings. If I had a stronger stomach, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt, since Goodie Tacos has some faithful customers(my roommates among them). So if you’re in the neighborhood and have a few bucks, why not give this local, family-run business a try.

I have gotten tacos from here many times! It is by far my favorite tacos in all of Chicago. The husband and wife are always very sweet and make their tacos with heart. The green salsa is the absolute BEST! I highly recommend it. It is a place to grab and go eat it somewhere else. Remember to bring cash since it is cash only. Everyone should come here at least once! I am drooling just thinking about my next steak taco!

This is a nice family owned taco joint that is in the area. I have a personal favorite taco spot, but this place gets it done when I am chilling at my friends shop across the street. The lady that works there is really nice and friendly. My favorite thing about this place is that the tacos are made to order, which means your food will take a little longer. I also ordered a hot dog that came with fries and a drink. The price for everything was really reasonable. Honestly, the food here is pretty average… I would say 3−31÷2 stars, but since the lady who owns the place is nice, I give this place a 4 stars.

The owner Raul and his wife are really nice and friendly, and its a decent taco place, taco are not that great but not bad either, I got the stake and chorizo taco are they were ok, had very little meat, Raul gave me a sweet tamale to try and that was delicious, very authentic. I was hoping to get some authentic pork tamales but they don’t make any.

Decent taco place. I shared the steak torta with a friend. The steak seemed to be pretty good quality, not fatty or chewy. I’d probably go there again since it is right around the corner from me, cheap, and quick.

small little family owned restaurant across from a school. there is a few stools and wall tables for you to eat there… the restaurant has Mexican food and American food. from tacos to burgers. the service is really nice. the 2 times i ordered from here, i got the taco dinner(3 tacos, rice, beans)… i tried the steak and the al pastor. the steak is decent. i would say its about average… the al pastor was probably the worst I’ve ever had in any restaurant… the rice was microwaved but wasn’t too bad. the beans was very liquidy? and very very bland… probably wont come back here since there are tons of Mexican restaurants around the area that is cheap and good…

The tacos here are delicious, especially the chicken tacos. It’s a little-hole-in-the-wall type place, but well worth stopping inside. The gentleman who made our tacos for us was incredibly nice and even offered us fresh jalapenos to go with our meal. I’ll definitely be back soon.

Tacos are made to order, no steam table or quick serve. This is a small family run take out, they have burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, candy and Mexican food. Menus are 10 years old, with the old prices, I like the fact that my tacos were made on the spot and the way, I wanted them. Raul, told me that he cooks the food, the way the customer wants it and he listens to his customers. I had the chicken and al pastor tacos, they were very tasty, but the taco shell was over cooked. Over all, I would go back and try it again

I personally think its really good. I’ve been eating burritos alot lately and this one is one of the best ones around the area. I usually get steak burritos so thats what i got. It was very fresh and the meat was delicious. I would definitely recommend it. I especially like it cause its close to my house. The lady there is really nice and friendly. I still have to try the taco’s next time.

As it has been mentioned, this is a family-run eatery with some tasty Mexican items on the menu as well as the standard«running a small grill» thoroughfare like burgers, fries and the like. Well, I headed in and was greeted by Sylvia, one of the owners in the family, and while trying to make up my mind I decided«this place is called Goodie Taco, so let’s see how good the tacos are!» I almost always go with steak as my meat of choice, and I always prefer soft tacos. She was out of flour tortillas, though I was hoping for corn tortillas anyway. While she was cooking it up, we had a nice little chat about us moving into the area and trying to find new places with good food. Sylvia seems very friendly, and was extra-quick assembling my foodstuffs. I assume they get a lot of practice at speedy service here since they are right next to the Holden School and I imagine on a schoolday will get large crowds of hungry families on their way home. It would also explain the large amount of candies and snacks in boxes for sale at the counter — unless the Guzman family just has a large sweet tooth and needs to be near a sugar supply at all times. Either way, I got home and thoroughly enjoyed my taco. I like any Mexican food establishment where«no cilantro» is an option and will be properly adhered to when preparing my food. The steak was excellent and the taco was a delight. I will certainly be back, and I can attest to the«good tacos» at «Goodie Taco».

Goodie Taco is a great place to hit for lunch… its a small family-owned business, and the mom makes great food! The specials kick ass and they make it the way you want it — although we have to do something about the ketchup on the hotdogs, come on, people! if you’re in the area and want some good fast food this is the spot!

A nice little family run, Mexican-American restaurant. The prices are great for everything here. You have everything from burgers & hot dogs to burritos & tacos. I recommend the steak or beef burritos. It’s a great place if your on the run. They make a very quick meal for you that won’t be missing anything from flavor to portions. You get your money’s worth here and then some.
