Just had what they call a turkey club. It was salty pressed turkey on pita bread – really bad. I am really angry about this lunch. I spent about $ 13. for an a sandwich that was barely edible. I must say this ranks up there with the worst meal I have ever had.

Frankie’s is one of my family’s favorite restaurant to visit while shopping in the area. The food is consistently good and the bar area is relaxing and charming. We often get numerous appetizers. They are willing to customize salads. The meatballs are a delight.

Once, this place was really one of the more fun and dependable places in the Lettuce empire. In a mall with a real dearth of good options, I could depend on Frankie’s. Even an incident with an uncooked chicken a few years ago, was taken care of with Kindess and apologies(and taken off the bill). Other visits since have been fine. Until today. I will not be returning here again. The sub sandwiches at Potbelly’s next door will suffice. Tonight, I walked in before 5pm. After being made to wait several minutes for no apparently reason(there was no one in front of me), I was seated«outside» the main restaurant. At the time, there were 3 other tables. My waiter took forever to show(I’m still not sure who he was as 3 people did things)…asking if I knew my entire order. The food came as promised – but no one came back to ask to fill my drink or even my water. The very end of the meal did see a refill of tea, but not water. I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a restaurant in my memory that didn’t fill my water. I asked a bus boy and that help never came(not his fault, he was running from table to table). No one asked if my meal was good or if I needed anything. The bill was brought quickly brought however and no one again asked how things were. If an uncooked chicken didn’t keep me away(and it didn’t) this sure will. I eat at Lettuce places 2 – 3 times a month. Have hundreds of points and gift cards to use. They won’t be used here. Go to Potbelly’s.

I’m pretty surprised to be writing this review because generally I give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. We went into Frankie’s for dinner after a show at the Broadway Theater. There was about a 30 minute wait, so we went into the bar for a drink and appetizers. My first issue was with the server at the bar. Maybe this guy was having a bad day, but the attitude was brutal. Just really unfriendly and completely unnecessary. Before our appetizers came to us, they called us for our table. We grabbed our drinks and I spoke to the bar server about closing out. He told us that he’d bring our apps to us with the tab, so we could close out with him. When we were seated, the server in the restaurant came up to us, saw that we were good with drinks. We explained that we had ordered a pizza and were waiting for that. He seemed confused. Couldn’t understand that we could have ordered something, but didn’t bother to ask us any questions. Our intent was to eat the appetizers and order dinner and more drinks … But he never came back. It was obvious that he was pissed. If he had simply asked us how we were doing, he would have discovered that we were ready to order dinner. Instead he sulked off, avoided us, and we left complaining. After waiting 30 minutes, eating our appetizers, we were in no mood to explain ourselves to the hostess. We suggested the hostess get the story from the server. Not sure if that ever happened.

It’s true the service at Frankie’s has declined over the years. It seems they are going for volume now while quality declines. On a recent busy evening the server seemed poorly trained and lacked confidence(but not overtly rude). No return to check on our entrees(food good, not great) and completely ignored when a large group was seated in her section. However she did liven up when we walked out without receiving a check!

Been coming for years. Standard pasta. Minestrone is always good. But service getting worse and worse. Tonight’s service was the worst of all. Waiter has been working here for years. We have seen him here all this time but he is just getting more abrupt and rude with time. Not even a greeting. Just a welcome back because he probably recognized that we aren’t new. And straight to «what do you want?» Wine glass was dirty and soup spoon too. In bringing out the soup the server spills it on the table. Splashes our bags and splashes us. Not a word of sorry or any kind of apology. So this is how it started. Enough said.

Sad. Have been coming since it opened. My name is even on a plate on the wall. Food is still good — service horrible. Waiters are abrupt. They spilled out soup all over us and our bags– not even an apology. Nothing comped. Did not even clean it up. We did Could not find a manager to complain. $ 60 and a night I cannot get back. Sad this has degenerated into the abyss of Chicago food mediocrity — too many other good places. Chipotle treats me better

I came here for brunch and liked it, but this review is more for dinner. It we came on a Saturday night, knowing we’d probably have to wait. The host estimated an hour but it only ended up being about 20 minutes which was great! Our water wasn’t very attentive, but our food came quickly. The bread that they gave us was delicious and quickly gone. We also ordered the toasted ravioli. Being from St. Louis, this isn’t the same as back home, but filled the void. All of us liked our pasta entrees. I would like to try the pizza sometime. This is a great location if you’re looking for brunch, lunch, or dinner after shopping on the Magnificent Mile.

Under cooked seafood in their pasta equals food poisoning on vacation! Don’t go here, even out of convenience, I would not recommend this place to my enemy’s.

The food was delicious! Everything was perfectly seasoned and had great flavor. Service was fantastic. From the moment we walked in until we left we were taken care of very well. The desserts were so. good. The flourless chocolate cake was heavenly! The tiramisu was light and creamy and just so yummy. Thanks Frankie’s for a great night out with the family!

The reason that we work on Unilocal is to help each other navigate foodland. I needed a spot that could accommodate 10 people ranging in age from 80 to 8 months. Oh yeah, this is on a Saturday night. We were assured that this would not be a problem(and it was not). In my mind, LEYE is one of the best brands in the biz to provide you of a respectable meal. Although the operation end was fine, the food was shockingly wrong. I cannot believe this is a Lettuce place and would strongly recommend going somewhere else.

Great place to eat! Reasonably priced! We had fried ravioli for our appetizer, then we split the 8″ margarita pizza and chicken Parmesan! We substituted the spaghetti for garlic mashed potatoes. We had plenty of leftovers!

We came in earlier than our reserved time and had specifically requested for a seat with a view online but when we got there, host told us the seats are still occupied. She asked us politely and we were seated inside instead. Food — ordered fettuccine Alfredo and pizza margherita. Liked the pasta a lot, it was very creamy and had a good serving size! Pizza was just okay. Could’ve given 5 stars if not for the corn meal they’ve used at the bottom of the pizza crust. They also gave us bread with a really crunchy crust before serving all of our other food and we really liked but we wondered why they didn’t give us some Parmesan cheese to go with the olive oil that they served with our bread. Hmmm… We’ve forgotten about the no-Parmesan olive oil when we got our fried calamari which the other reviews were spot on! It really melts in your mouth and not chewy at all! Service — good and the server always had a smile in her face. She’s also alert for when we needed a refill for our soda! Saw the chef talk to other guests and didn’t even say Hi to us when he passed by. Maybe he talked with friends or relatives. Price — not bad compared to other authentic Italian restaurants we’ve dined in before. Parking — after 5pm(M-F) they validate so we just paid $ 5 for the indoor covered self parking spot at the back of their building. This is one great discovery during our date night! Overall, We’re lettuce entertain you members so we will definitely come back and try their other pastas and entrees! This will definitely be one of our go to Italian dinner places downtown Chicago.

Group dinners always bring out the worst in restaurants. One of my company’s higher ups loves Frankie’s so we come here frequently for work events. The food is always solid Italian food, but the service is slower than slow. My last meal here was almost three hours long. It was kind of painful to watch the server bring dishes to every table first before serving the VIP table(despite being told which table was the VIP table). I was glad when they stopped serving appetizers(of which our table was not offered very many) and just put the food out family style so we could help ourselves. That said, the food is always really good. It’s hard to find something you don’t like to eat at Frankie’s.

This is one of my go-to places to meet friends for lunch or dinner when out and about on Michigan Ave. It’s on the fifth floor of the 900 mall attached to Bloomies. Not too crowded except around the holidays, I recently ordered the chopped salad for lunch because I’m still trying to lose the last of the five pounds gained over the holidays. I love that all of the ingredients are really fresh, and it fills me up. Or I should say used to fill me up, because they had cut the portion size significantly, and there was only a tiny amount of chicken. Would have been better if they’d just put a few more bucks on the price. My friend had the thin crust Rita D pizza made with organic flour, ricotta and asparagus… baked crisp in a brick oven. The seasoning was bland, but she liked it.(She graciously gave me a piece when she saw the size of my salad.) My favorite scaloppine is the chicken limone, made with fresh lemons, mushrooms and spinach(heavy on the garlic). I don’t usually order pasta, but people rave about the baked ziti. With a cup of soup to start, the ziti is big enough for two to share. And there are a lot of gluten-free things on the menu. I think it’s a long trip from the kitchen to the area outside the main dining room, where I like to sit. Maybe that’s why service is slow. Had to ask twice for coffee refills. And sorry Frankie, I have to take one star off because of the salad.

Great place to take a load off after a rough day shopping in downtown Chicago. Relaxed atmosphere, «outside»(i.e., in mall) seating area. Low key Italian music playing in the background. We walked in and were immediately seated. Not a huge fan of the crispy breadsticks rather than bread but the garlic butter is good! We were shopping for Black Friday and needed a little late lunch(slash I needed a drink). Our waiter greeted us quickly and said he would be back soon to take our order after we settled in. I was starving and that sort of comment instills fear into the heart of the hypoglycemic. Luckily, our waiter was back relatively soon. I had the Michigan salad, which was great. Tons of tuna though — very hearty but other than that fairly light. My mom had the chopped salad, which she also enjoyed. Overall, nice place to grab lunch. We’ve been here before and I’m sure we’ll be back.

I don’t often review a restaurant the same night I eat there, and almost never when I’m out of town, but my experience at Frankie’s Scaloppine is compelling me to make an exception. The only reason I even went to Frankie’s was because it was conveniently located in an urban mall connected to my conference hotel. After spending all day in a suit and tie, I had happily changed into a T-shirt and shorts and flip flops and did not feel like getting dressed up again and stepping outdoors into the Chicago chill. When I got there, the first thing that caught my eye was the wood stone oven — what a magnificent piece of work that was! I hung around the area while they readied my window table, pestering the staff with questions and impertinently taking pictures(as any self respecting Unilocaler would!), but not once did they display any irritation even though I was clearly in the way. My waiter had that first-week-on-the-job look about him, and admitted as much, so I asked him whether he had been sampling the menu and what he liked. The«veal meatball appetizer» he said without any hesitation! So I immediately placed that order, and then ignoring his second suggestion of the gnocchi entrée, settled on the chicken Limone scaloppine(I can’t go to a restaurant with scaloppine in its name and not order one!). The veal meatballs arrived, and it was love at first bite! The meat was tender and juicy and perfectly cooked, with just a tiny bit of crisp on the surface. And the marinara sauce was so fresh and flavorful it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The chicken Limone scaloppine was good, but it paled in comparison to the veal meatballs. So much so that after a couple of bites, I asked them to pack the rest of it «to-go» and went back to my veal, savoring every last morsel. I now have a favorite restaurant in Chicago, and I can’t wait to go back for that veal!

Truly a hidden gem! I attended Frankie’s with a large group of friends and we were able to indulge in some of their best cocktails and dishes. Inside of the 900 North building, parking was provided at $ 6 which made this evening even better! Upon walking in, I had a little mix-up trying to find the actual place and just followed other people! :-) The drinks were great. I was able to go through an Italian Margherita, Bellini, Long Island, Mai Tai, Makers Sour and a Cosmo. The bartenders/waitresses were so efficient and fast. I remember how demanding it got and they were somehow able to keep up with everything. I didnt eat anything but the dishes that I saw being brought out looked and smelled amazing! Everyone was almost licking their plates clean! Totally loved the place — ambiance and all!

My friend had a $ 25 off your bill coupon so of course I was more than happy to go to Frankie’s with her. Being that I’m on my get fit for your birthday program I declined to eat all day so I could feast at Frankie’s. This my Unilocal friends was a mistake. Nothing about Frankie’s was memorable except the service. I got the Gnocchi & Chicken Sausage which sounded amazing on the menu. The portion size seemed like it was off the children’s menu, which my birthday outfits appreciated from my bedroom closet. I liked the dish, but it was nothing special and the chicken sausage that was suppose to be in the dish were B.V.T.N.E(barely visible to the naked eye). My friend got the Chicken Sausage & Pesto Pizza and that it was just OK. She didn’t find the pizza worth the trip in the rain. Riding down the escalators she said she was still hungry and wanted to get a slice of cheesecake from«The Factory» across the street. Clearly, her meal wasn’t filling. Seeing how our total bill, after the coupon was applied, was $ 5.10 I guess I shouldn’t complain. The excellent service from our waiter is the only reason why I’m giving Frankie’s 3 stars instead of 2.
