This is a nice little bare-bones hot dog place. Very clean, from what I could tell. Good, professional service. It was all set to get a god, solid three stars until I bit into the Rueben Dog. Holy you-know-what. It was fantastic. Maybe not THE best hot dog, but definitely a top-fiver, and miles above what we have in the suburbs. It misses a perfect mark because it’s a little pricey(understandable in Old Town). All in all, a good place for a dog, but to pricey to do all the time.

I generally order delivery multiple times a week because I work from home. I’ve been disappointed recently with terrible deliveries I’ve received and so I decided to order Dog House. Fast Fresh Hot and the price is right. I’ve ordered 3 times this week. No complaints. Keep up the good work.

Some of the best onion rings in town! Other food is great too, open late! They also offer merkts cheddar on their menu, which is great addition to the burgers or the fries.

Good burger(got the double) and cheese fries. Cheese fries are a huge portion. It’s good hangover food. This street and area lacks this type of food, so it’s a convenient addition for those drunken munchies or just a greasy meal. I went during the day for lunch and was the only person in there so it was fast.

Came in around 11pm and ordered chicken fingers, a polish and cheese fries. After 30 minutes asked what was going on and they had clearly forgotten our order. We still waited another 20 minutes and finally got our food and were given«free» mozzarella sticks only to get home and discover they forgot our cheese fries.

i went in to order a polish, to be informed«all we have is hotdogs» thats all they wrote, if you have nothing available except hotdogs on a wednesday at lunch time thats just incompetence. i doubt it is worth returning

Just a few blocks down from The Second City, this is an ideal after show stop to complete your Chicago experience. Nothing fancy here. Oh no. But the food is tasty, fast and affordable. We had the classic Italian beef sandwich«wet»… A generous portion of tender meat on a fresh, soft roll. You can get a classic Chicago hot dog here too, which seemed to be the favorite among the late night revelers who wandered in to cure their munchies! The place is clean, safe and the service is friendly.

Stopped in yesterday at 11:30 for 4 Chicago Dogs, a Polish Sausage and a FF/grand total $ 20, no big deal price wise. Problem was that none of the hot dogs were even cooked? Literally cold-lukewarm/we were hungry so we ate em anyway. this is a hot dog joint on Wells St in Chicago! Really? Can’t steam a hot dog properly. OK//+1 star for the great condiments

Cheese fries are amazing here. Great place to get food after the bars. I tried the Italian beef during the day and it was very average. I’ll stop back to try a hot dog and give it another chance.

Just what the neighborhood needs! Friendly staff and super fresh ingredients. A little pricey but not outlandish. Maybe the best onion rings in the city.

The Food I have gotten has always been made to order so hot and fresh and good. The pricing is way too high. It is a low rent fry stand and if you order cheese sticks and a small fry it is $ 9 Seems expensive to me when their portions are not large.

This place was basically built to feed drunk people at 2 am. Unfortunately I’m sober and it’s 2pm. First off the employees all look like they get naked and smother themselves in mustard and then lick it off of each other when it’s slow. There is a chalkboard menu with no prices which I didn’t like. I ordered a hot dog and cheese fries. That is all. AND they messed up my order. I sent it back for the cheese and then I was happy. The hot dog sucked way too bread even though I had them drag it thru the garden. But the cheese fries were good I guess to put a positive spin I would have to say that at least the employees don’t have important jobs that could cause real damage. They don’t build spaceships or perform open heart surgery or anything like that where their incompetence could get people killed.

Awesome hot dog stand. Old school. Very clean with great service and selection. The menu has everything you’d expect, from a polish to an Italian beef and delicious hand cut fries. This is what a great Chicago hot dog should be. Great for kids too. A great spot in old town.

My prediction– this place won’t make it. The food just isn’t that good. Case in point– I ordered a polish with raw onion and mustard. They served it on a french roll. Not a hot dog bun. Seems kind of dumb to me. Also. Fries were just sort of, eh. Just overall an forgettable experience. My advice– don’t bother.

Really refreshing and I loved it. Had a couple of the burgers and the polish. Meat was really really well cooked and grilled in a good way. Also enjoyed that they give you a hoagie roll for the polish so you don’t get stuck with a drippy hot dog bun. Well worth it and quite rare for a hot dog place, it’s extremely clean inside and good for sitting.

Was taking a walk around, didn’t want to spend much money today so we stopped in at this little hot dog place. The ladies there were very nice. It was a very clean cozy place to grab a bite!

Currently Dog House Grill is the best hot dog stand in Old Town and a welcome addition at that. It offers hot dogs, Polish, Italian beef, pizza puffs and a few other classic Chicago quick bites. The food looks and tastes fresh and non-greasy. Service is pleasant and fast enough. The seating area is modest but relatively clean and not sticky or smelly. Dog House Grill is located in the space formerly occupied by Fresh Start, which was a health-conscious fast food takeout joint. I miss Fresh Start, however, Dog House Grill is appreciated, particularly given it keeps late night hours. I have eaten two Chicago dogs, one Polish and one Italian beef here. All appeared fresh, and the toppings and condiments were abundant. However, the dogs were missing celery salt and that’s a sin in Chicago; otherwise they were authentic. The Italian beef was placed on Turano bread, and it was juicy and peppery, but the deep beefy flavor you get at famous beef stands was lacking. It was good though. I give Dog House Grill four stars because for what it is, essentially a Vienna factory outlet, this stand is the best in the area. On good weather days, I might leave Old Town for superior versions of the same genre food. [Edited 2−28−15: Ordered a double cheeseburger and fries today. My usual burger — salt, pepper, pickles and ungrilled onions. The bun appeared to be a floured Turano potato one and it was moist as well as non-fake tasting; the meat was 5⁄8 lb and better tasting than Five Guys and local pub beef; the pickles contributed and did not distract; the onions were fresh sliced reds; the American cheese was your basic American, but the cook placed an extra slice on top and it was not completely melted in the center. Not a Butcher and The Burger burger experience but delicious and filling nevertheless. The fries stood out. These had some skin on them and were the puffy non-heavy higher end variety. Notably better than you typically would find at Butcher and The Burger or in Old Town. Quite potato-ey yet light and non-greasy. The fries were perfectly golden, snappy on the outside and, as stated, puffy on the inside. They were not heavily salted and didn’t need it, I used very little ketchup because the fries themselves tasted good on their own and I ate majority plain. The food here is non-greasy or heavy for what it is. The ingredients are quality. Once word travels, and the summer Old Town bar and festival scene kicks in, this place and its location are going to make not just bank but a killing. Mark this. Now if only they will add wi-fi.]
