Cute little gem. It’s hard to find a reputable aquarium store with actual knowledge of the fish they are selling. Nice selection. The owner knows his stuff and is very welcoming.

I’m always looking for a higher quality, healthier fish aquarium store. Thank goodness I found one.
I hate shopping at the pet-​whatever places… they are more like grocery stores for dogs and cats… with some poor ½ dead fish slowly waiting for someone to rescue them.
But here the fish are healthy and vibrant and living in super conditions. The prices are really low for the quality.
The owner of the store is the real deal. Raises his own fish and knows more about them than a fish bagger at the other places.
I intend to only shop here for all my food and aquarium needs.

This is little gem is much more than an aquarium shop. There are beautiful plants, and cool frogs and other small reptiles. The shop teems with life. The owner, Frank, is an experienced aquarist (and breeder) with a wealth of information that he shares freely. The fish are healthy and beautiful. Many of them are rare. It would be understandable if he charged an arm and a leg, but the prices at DoL are the lowest I have seen in the Chicago area.

This place happens to have everything I love. All fish, reptiles, amphibians, and plants looks extremely healthy and well taken care of. Unique little shop and the owner knows what he’s doing. He’s very knowledgeable and informative. Just purchased 2 beautiful angelfish for my aquarium, I will be returning soon for more!

I happened upon this very cool small shop while having breakfast at my favorite breakfast spot, Paulines. What a neat place filled with tropical plants, aquariums, air plants, little dart frogs, and a wide selection of aquarium plants. Plenty of free parking in this friendly easily walkable neighborhood. They even have supplies for my aquarium, way cool.
