Long line with one cashier during peak morning hours. Girl making drinks made several smoothies and then my ice coffee. Refused to give it to me until she was finished washing up the blenders. Then had to wait over 12 minutes to get a simple sandwich to go. No smiles or friendly service either. I think the fact that I told them I was in a hurry to go open up for the artshow was the reason. They intentionally slowed my I rder down. Will never go to that location again. They are much better in Atlanta, Georgia. You wouldn’t know it was a chain in Atlanta.

My bf and I stopped in here because I was COLD and wanted something HOT to drink. I ordered Hot Chai Tea made with milk SUPERHOT and they delivered. It was yummy and kept my hands warm for a good while.

Sadly, not what we expected. Stopped in for breakfast panini and yuck, so much spray on butter you could barely hold the sandwich, much less taste it. Ordered a sugar cookie and a chocolate chip cookie as well, tried those later, no taste, ended up throwing them out. No reason to ever waste money here again.

We had a soup and salad and were pleased enough to visit another Corner in the Railway Building. I guess all were not created equal. They were out of the butternut squash soup, we liked. They got the order wrong and only brought one soup and a soggy half sandwich. Disappointing. The average of the two comes out 3 stars. It’s quick, easy, inexpensive and I’d try it again if those were my needs.

Zero stars. Their take out system is abysmally slow. They have one person working takeout during the triathlon. Doug

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this. With a dearth of options downtown and being ravenous we grabbed quick sandwiches here and the Asian pork sandwich was actually really tasty, with a very generous portion of shredded pork. The service was also excellent – very polite, professional, and solicitous.

Maybe it’s unfair, but I’m not in the mood to split hairs over this… I only came to Corner Bakery Café because I really wanted some kind of iced espresso concoction, and Starbucks had a line 10 deep. It was hot and I was in a hurry. Corner Bakery it was. They really don’t have many options at all, in terms of café style drinks. It was basically coffee, decaf coffee, and two types of tea(all of which you serve yourself at the drink station). To my eyes, it didn’t appear that they did ANY made to order café drinks. Perhaps I wrong, but I didn’t see anything like that. The tea was«OK» at best and cost me $ 2+. It looks like a cool place that hovers between sit down restaurant and take-away café. The lack of customized drinks killed it for me.

Could be great… But it isn’t. With very few exceptions, attendants are in a very bad mood. Moreover, i like my eggs hot in the morning, thank you very much.

Fabulous catering! My work is down the street and we always get excited when we find out Corner Bakery is catering the breakfast or lunch! Great assortment of bagels and delicious sandwiches. There is truly something for everyone when we order a plater from here. Great coffee and salads to please a crowd as well. Our clients always as where the food was from and then are surprised when we say… Corner Bakery! Love the tomato mozzarella sandwich as well, it’s been a lifesaver Fridays during lent.

I really wanted to sit down for a delicious brunch someplace but my friend wanted ample time to check out Chicago so we stopped here for a little light breakfast. I got the oatmeal which was a tinge on the bland side, nothing a little honey and cinnamon can’t fix. On the side it comes with a cranberry biscuit sprinkled in salt. If it weren’t for the burnt flavor it would have been excellent. The coffee — now that was delicious!!! It was great. I liked it better than Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts. We don’t have this chain in New York so it was cool to experience. My friend really enjoyed his chocolate muffin which looked fresh and delicious. We sat by a window and enjoyed the sites. I liked the experience.

The place reminds me of panera bread. I came here on a Sunday morning before it became packed. The overall service was good.

Wish we had these in Michigan… it’s basically another version of Panera. I ordered a cup of loaded baked potato soup and a Caesar salad. Both were excellent. The soup was especially amazing, with shredded cheese and green onions on top(yum). The only reason to detract a star is that that meal was about $ 12, which is totally ridiculous.

The food and drink at this Corner bakery are acceptable and as expected from a chain, good enough and good value for money. The reason this place stands out is the AMAZING staff and attitudes ESPECIALLYTOWARDSKIDS. Once could be a fluke, twice in a row is not. They just love kids and go out of their way to make them welcome, including comping after mistakes(and always with a smile). Why would I ever go anywhere else with the kids in this area? All you parents out there — this is the place if you are in downtown Chicago with the kids. Feed them culture at the Art Institute and then hot chocolate with a smile here. Way to go!

I really dislike giving places bad reviews, but I honestly have reached my end with this location of corner bakery! This is the only location I’ve ever had upsetting experiences at. It’s unfortunate that this place is so understaffed and has such an incompetent and rude manager because it may ruin people’s perspectives for all corner bakery’s when in reality they aren’t all bad. The food is either mediocre or horrible. I never know what I’m getting myself into when I go there. If your in the area and want something to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner… try Beezee a few blocks away instead, they have a nice breakfast and the staff and food are always reliable and great!

Ordered fresh salad with soup. The soup is not hot, the salad… I dont know if its fresh or not. I cant describe the taste. I’ve been eating fresh salad but the salad from Corner Baker is not that good. Service was ok, dont really know what happen to this place. The last thing I know, this place has very good atmosphere.

Everything about this corner bakery is just OK. The service… just ok. The food… just ok(except for today’s cold broccoli cheddar soup). So for all that, 3 stars… just ok. If the soup would just have come out hot it might be better, but no… just ok.

We came here for a quick bite after visiting the Art Institute across the street. I didn’t notice until our second day in Chicago that the Corner Bakery Café is a chain business, but I thought I’d give it a try. Good location. We weren’t too hungry so we just shared a pasta and salad combo. The mac and cheese was delicious enough that I wanted to come back and get an order for the plane ride home. It’s hard to mess up a Caesar salad so I won’t bother go into that. I didn’t end up getting any mac and cheese for the trip home in the end which is a shame, but the rest of the menu looked good.

One Corner Bakery is just like the other. The same fresh salads, nice beverages, yummy soups and delicious sandwiches. Especially that Reuben Sandwich, mmm! This location though, seems to have the most fantastic service! I stopped here for lunch the other day, as I was famished. Sat outside and enjoyed the outdoor patio. They brought my sandwich out to me in record time. After that, a woman came around pouring water for everyone on the patio. What a nice touch! I pop in here a lot for coffee, and sometimes the yummy and tangy 32 oz. lemonade. I also like their graphic /menu design and branding, but then, I’m a geek about stuff like that.
