The shrimp and cheese grits were excellent. They had a tomato and mushroom sauce on top. The chicken sausage is moist and nicely flavored. It has the seasoning of a good breakfast sausage. Also had the house tea lemonade which was excellent.

I stumbled upon Chef Sara’s Café on my lunch break. When I entered, I felt like I was in a family members kitchen. The staff was very welcoming and the dining area was quaint and comfortable. When I was about to order, I was undecided between the turkey burger and salmon burger. Chef Sara told me that the salmon burger was the most popular so I just went with that. I’m so glad I got it, it was so good(not to mention the peanut butter cookies)!!! I’m so glad I found this place and will be back to check out their breakfast since its served all day.

I was so excited to see that a RAW Food restaurant existed within an hour’s drive of Surprise. My husband and I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I had the pizza which was absolutely amazing and very filling. My husband had the coconut wrap and he really enjoyed his meal. I cannot wait until there is a restaurant closer to Surprise, Az. Sara was wonderful and took her time explaining the menu and advising us raw food newbies on what she thought we would like. I really appreciated her taking the extra time to talk about the health benefits of the food she uses to prepare her menu items. This restaurant is a real treat to go to. I will try to eat there once a week or every other week to give myself a break from food preparation at home. Thank you Sara!

I drive by this place everyday and for months I’ve wanted to stop by. Today I finally did and I LOVED it. It’s so cozy and welcoming. The staff/owners are amazing and the prices are reasonable. I ordered shrimp and grit, a three egg omelette and coffee. The owner came over to talk with my son and I. I plan to return daily for my morning coffee. The food was delicious and will return to try several different items.

I give this café a 4.5 Stars. First off it’s right on 72nd and Exchange, and it’s BLACK owned and parking is easily accessible. I was struggling in with baby when I was greeted by smiling faces. We got there an hour before closing and were welcomed like we were there first thing in the morning. Sara the owner was there, smiling bright and recommending that I order the salmon burger. Oh Lordy it was awesome. Salmon on a warm croissant with sweet and raw onions w/a light sauce. I am no onion fan but this was the best salmon sandwich ever. So light yet filling. So flavorful but yet it didn’t taste like salt touched it.

Great service! Very kind workers here. The place is quaint, relaxed, offers wifi, and attracts an array of customers. So proud to see a healthy eatery in the South Shore Community. We need more quality businesses like Chef Sara’s!

This was my first visit. My guy got the salmon burger and I tasted it. It was awesome. I got the French toast special with scrambled eggs and chicken sausage. Everything was seasoned nicely. The only downside was service was a tad bit slow. I’m guessing it’s because there was a large party and they just wasn’t prepared for the group as well as other patrons. I would return.

I came in and order almost the whole menu LOL!!! Well, not entirely but I did spend $ 40. I ordered the Asian salad that seemed to be more cabbage than anything else for $ 4.99. Two bowls of coilflower soup that came with the option of crackers or cornbread. It’s a very small piece of cornbread I did not like it; it was pretty dry and hard. I think I like the broccoli soup better though. The salmon burger was pretty good. The Black eyed peas dip is served cold even though I expected it to be warm. I also didn’t expect to see the actual beans; I thought it would be ground up like hummus. Although I think it’s a bit pricey, it is healthier than my other options in the South Shore Neighborhood and I would like to see it stay. Chef Sara is a nice woman and the ambiance is quite welcoming and relaxing.

First it’s a very friendly place, like being welcomed home. It is so wonderful to have a great tasting, healthy, made to order restaurant here in South Shore. I highly recommend the linguine salad and Black Eyed Pea(Texas Caviar) dip with tortilla chips.

Unilocal has on here that they are closed today but they aren’t. I just returned from there. The hours on here are apparently WRONG. I will be getting that fixed. Anyways, Everyone knows me there lol. They have memorized my order! My absolute FAVORITE place to eat. Amazing addition to the neighborhood.

Good food, friendly service, reasonable prices. I’d heard some good things about the café so my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. It did not disappoint. I had the shrimp and grits and my girlfriend had the french toast. It’s a family business in the true sense(Sara was there and waited on us.) The food was made to order, which means it takes a little longer than your average diner but is much better quality. Chef Sara’s is a quality, fresh option in South Shore, something the neighborhood definitely needs more of. If you live in South Shore and haven’t tried it you should make the trip. The food is good and you’ll be supporting a local business!

I’ve only been here once, not sure why it says twice on Unilocal… Can you say disorganized rude haphazard? I came in for a cup of coffee. It took me 10 minutes to get one. From the disorganized way that the café is set up where I couldn’t even tell where to order my coffee(how about an «order here» sign?) to the disorganized way to get your coffee(it’s self serve, also without a sign or the necessary kids, spoons, sugar, cream, etc. in plain sight). There were three people and all three kept looking at me as if I were crazy as they barked«it’s self serve». I let them know I wanted to know where to order and buy a cup. Oh yeah, and how much was it since there were no signs. See a pattern here? 10 minutes later and $ 2.47 in the hole for a mediocre«house blend from a brotha» I was past ready. Since I was parked right outside, I sat in my car for a second to check into Unilocal.Out comes the guy who rang me up, waving me to roll down my window. He accusingly asked me if I poured out my coffee(WTF is this the coffee police?). It was my birthday, I didn’t feel like going toe to toe and wished him a «good morning» and rolled my window back up. I’d never received a good morning from any of them, mind you & I’m 100% sure Chef Sara was one of the people who barked it’s self serve. I don’t know why dude came outside and asked me that, I don’t know how they stay in business with horrible service like that. I really don’t care now. I live a couple of blocks away and wanted to support a local Black business however they FAILED. I will never be coming back.

I’m sitting in Chef Sara’s Café as I write this review. This is my first time at Chef Sara’s Café and the entire staff already knows me by name. The atmosphere in this hidden gem is warm and inviting. Everyone knows each other and speaks as if they’re old friends, however, it’s quite enough to get some work done, thanks to the free available Wifi. I just finished the Chef’s Special(pancakes, eggs, meat all for a very low price) and it was absolutely delicious. OMG, I am in LOVE with the eggs! I will definitely return to Chef Sara’s Café. It’s a little hard to see when driving pass, but Chef Sara’s Café sits on the Southeast corner of 72nd and Exchange– tell them«Day» sent you.

Chef Sara’s is a symbol of both South Shore’s past and future. Located on an unassuming block not far from the South Shore Cultural center, you can’t help but feel like you’ve found a little slice of home when you enter. Neither the menu nor the staff put on many airs. What you get is what you want… good food, great service and a warm smile to start your day. I normally go to Chef Sara’s for a cup of coffee or two, a sandwich when I am on the go, etc. I keep coming back because what is done is done well… and because places like Chef Sara are desperately needed. They bring a character to the neighborhood that hasn’t been seen in decades. So, when I want coffee? I pass a dozen Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts along the way. I support a business that reminds me of my mother’s kitchen in my youth… and I hope and pray more do the same.

Chef Sara’s café is a treat for the South Shore neighborhood. I have been here twice, and will definitely become more regular since I live around the corner. This morning my hubby and I had a taste for a good breakfast. We grabbed Chef Sara’s menu from off of our refrigerator and called our order in. We ordered a vegetable omelet with turkey sausage, croissant, a side of grits, and a breakfast sandwich(we were hungry, don’t judge!). I arrived to pick up the order and had to wait for a few minutes, but that was ok! The food: EXCELLENT! A large amount of fresh vegetables in the omelet, turkey sausage was fresh and tasty. Grits were the perfect consistency. Breakfast Sandwich was ONPOINT, AND she cut it down the middle, just like grandma would! I highly recommend this place, and it is in a perfect location for morning commuters, right outside the metra stop!

I’m not entirely sure why people love this place so much. When I first moved into the neighborhood I came here for lunch and purchased a salad. The salad was okay at best, but the raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing was gooey and disgusting. Sort of like the consistency of hair gel. It also took them about 20 minutes to make it when it didn’t have any meat or anything extra on it, which I didn’t understand. With that said, the place is very cute inside. It definitely resembles a small café, and they offer live music and events from time to time. They also have wifi with a purchase or you can purchase the wifi flat out. They have items like cookies, croissants, and other baked items. As much as I wanted to love this place, I didn’t.
