Garbage food AAAAAND cashier lady was extremely rude! She went as far to call me crazy! I wanted to take it further and ask to speak to the manager but most likely they will not do anything about it. Overall, place sucks!

I would give them a five but. let’s just say as long as the food stays fresh and ready I can accept the lack luster from the employees and random panhandlers.

This review is only for their chicken wings, I haven’t tried anything else on their menu. My friends and I ordered 50 wings, and we didn’t come close to finishing them all. The 50 wings for $ 25.99 may seem like a deal, but when you see the size of the wings you’ll understand why. Also, the fried batter on the wings was really interesting, and not in a good way. After eating the wings, we decided that we could probably get better wings at the Jewel next door, at the same if not better price.

Their chicken is soooo good! It is expertly seasoned and incredibly cheap. My friends love buying a huge tray to eat during a Bears game Sunday. Their fries are nice and greasy too. Perfect lunch.

Hubby and I intended to use the groupon for the froyo place on Taylor, so we decided to fill our stomaches first at Captain Hook’s Fish & Chicken. It’s located approximately ten(10)-minute walking distance from the CTA Polk Pink Line station. Once getting out of the station, walk toward Ashland and stay on Ashland southbound until passing Roosevelt. It’s within the shopping plaza where Jewel-Osco and other retailers are. It’s not exactly hole-in-the-wall, but nothing was extraordinary to look at inside the kitchen and the dining room. Although they proclaim that they serve mainly fish and chicken, their menu is extensive and eclectic like crazy! I saw hotdogs, all kinds of burgers, tacos, and other miscellaneous items. Hubby and I kept it simple and ordered a small order of ocean perch dinner and a small order of salmon dinner. The dinner doesn’t include a fountain pop. In fact, I don’t think they serve fountain drinks. On the previous paragraph I mentioned the huge menu options, well, their beverage menu is as simple as it can be; the options are water(charge $ 1 for it), mystic, and can sodas. I would say their fish alone was a five(5)-star quality. The size of my perches were large and were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Their hot sauce was also pretty on point. The dinner also came with fries and cold slaw; however, they were both average and there were not much to them in comparison to the yummy fish. We dined in because the Bachelor was on. I was used to be obsessed to that show for some reason. Well, I guess I’m not addicted to the Bachelor or the Bachelorette anymore. I like this place; it’s somewhat disappointing for not offering a fountain drink as an option while other similar joints might have one of the self-service fountain soda machines for customers. Once again, it’s just an disappointment, yet it’s not at all detrimental to how I think of the taste and quality of fish they offer here.

Drove by a certain unnamed chicken establishment tonight around 6 p.m. intending to go in and order for takeout. It was found to be closed. In a pinch, my coworkers and I turned to Firehouse Steak and Lemonade for our chicken fix. I called to order at 6:50 p.m. The employee on the other line was quick but both helpful and sharp. We ordered two separate 10-wing dinners with mild sauce and another large chicken tender dinner with mild sauce. I was disappointed to find that it costs an extra $ 2.00 to have them put the sauce right on the wings. So, we got it on the side. At 7:45, the food arrived. It was delicious. The wing sizes were medium-small and fright in a light, crunchy batter. Of particular note was the seasoning of the batter, very present and pleasant while not in your face. The fries are seasoned as well, awesome. Cole slaw and bread slice included too. The mild sauce is different than most I have had, but definitely still good. In this case, just innocently different. Pros: Inexpensive, tasty, quick delivery, takes cash or card, good service Cons: The weird extra charge for sauce on the wings, small wing size. Still a five star experience

If Unilocal would allow me to do 0 stars I would. Unfortunately I can’t review the food because of the disorganization of the people who work there. I went at lunch time. It seemed quiet. Only 2 people placing an order in front of me. Place my order. Unfortunately they had received a lot of carry out/delivery orders which they never told me about. After 15 minutes no food and when I asked how long it would be– they had not even started my order and apparently had 2 orders in front of me(the people who had ordered in the store ahead of me had already received their food. Since I needed to get back to work I had to get a refund. So now I am at my desk starving thanks to Firehouse and their lack of telling me there were several orders ahead of me.

I used to go here all of the time. Loved the Honey BBQ wings. Still do. But one late night I ordered a cheeseburger. The taste overall was just all right. But the reason I’m giving two stars is because when I received the burger I opened the buns and saw that only the edge of a tomato and one small leaf of lettuce was on it. If the cook is going to cut corners with this is he cutting corners with the food I ordered in the past but just didn’t realize it? Or the cleanliness of the kitchen?

One of the best deals around on seafood and chicken. Shrimp dinners, Fish dinners, Chicken dinners, all at reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. I usually go with the pIck 2 items for 9.00(medium shrimp and leg & thigh). The breading here is that perfect greasy deliciousness… if I weren’t health-conscious, I’d be eating here every day. As it is, I usually have leftovers when I order the Pick 2. They have $ 6 deals too… all plates(dinner included) come w/bread, coleslaw, fries and a can of soda. My husband’s fave are the chicken gizzards. The wings are good too, and the fried okra here tops our favorites lists… even the kids like it. I love the medium shrimp, perfectly mix of breading to shrimp with that lemon pepper seasoning. My stomach’s grumbling thinking about it. Lately, my 4 year old’s been into a fried chicken phase. He liked Captain Hooks so much that literally our last visit last Friday, he sat in his seat, wordlessly(almost mechanically) shoving it down non-stop…like he was afraid it’d disappear if it he didn’t finish it right away. The pieces aren’t huge, but a good medium size. They have daily specials, and the Firehouse menu has tons of sandwich and wing options as well, but we always stick with the Capt Hooks side of the menu. We usually eat in. I’d recommend eating it on the spot, though, on occasion that we’ve carried out, it’s still good(and so are the leftovers). Served in white paper bags contained in paper boats, it holds the heat pretty well. Good sized, comfortable dining area, chairs and booths. Televisions in each corner. Walk up counter service. They’re always friendly to us and we usually don’t have to wait longer than 15 – 20 minutes(for 4 meals). They’re good about giving us time estimate and if it’s longer than that, we stop into the Foot Locker next door to browse around til the food’s ready. Plenty of parking in the lot. Good stuff.

Not a savvy Unilocaler but this needed to be done! Talk about cheap! And I’m not talking about price! My co-workers and I order here several times and I decided to change it up and order a chicken sandwich, $ 7 dollar combo. Boy, was I disappointed, I would describe it as «1cm of actual chicken meat», I can get a bigger portion with a McChicken and we all know how much that costs. Also, try not to be so picky with what you don’t want on your sandwich because they will forget anyways and put everything on it. Many times we have our food delivered, ordering several people over the phone, good luck with that. They seem to hate several orders over the phone. Also, make sure everyone gives cash because they will charge for delivery per card. I am not a picky eater and have given this place the benefit of the doubt but I am getting restless of how these orders are managed. Good luck with your orders!

I drive by here almost everyday and I can’t believe I just recently tried this place for the first time! I had a very strong craving for fried catfish and fries, nothing else would suffice. I check my handy dandy Unilocal app for«Fish and Chips» in the West Loop, and lo and behold, 4-star rated Captain Hook’s Fish & Chicken came up! It’s located in the Jewel Shopping Center on Roosevelt and Ashland, so parking is a breeze. They have a plentiful amount of $ 5 meals, ranging from fried catfish, to chicken nuggets, to shrimp and all are served with fries. I got two HUMONGOUS pieces of catfish fillets with fries for only $ 5! Portions are quite generous and I could barely finish one fillet! The breading is light, not too heavy at all and it’s served with hot sauce(mild if requested). I thoroughly enjoyed my cheap yet delicious meal. If I had one small tiny complaint, it might be that the breading and fries are a tad too salty for my taste, but that didn’t stop me from devouring my meal. And for only $ 5, it was more than worth it. I’m definitely coming back!

Okay perhaps this is premature but I’m headed to CHF&C right now. 10 mins Erica said my order will be ready. If the food is anything close to her patience and help it will be worth the calories! Erica was great about helping me get the combo I wanted for the amount of food I wanted — 10 shrimp was just TOOMUCH! I feel the blood in my arteries coagulating but hopefully it will be worth it! Thank you!

This location has fast and cheap delivery but is not as tasty as the 87th location. The food was ok but it wasn’t as well seasoned. I ordered large orders of catfish, legs/thighs and wings. The chicken pieces were so small that many had barely any meat in the bones! Very disappointing! I know for next time to ask them tonfrynthe fish«hard» because there was no crunch when we bit into it… again I never had to think of this at the other location but oh well.

my friend brought me here because we was craving for fried food and he suggested this place. its your typical fast food joint service here and the food comes out pretty quick. the place is kind of dirty but bearable to eat at. we ordered fried chicken wings, fish & chips, and onion rings. the chicken wings was pretty decent, it would of been great if the skin is more crispy. the fish taste fresh and the breading was light which is good! the fries and onion rings was just OK. nothing special about it. will come back to try their jumbo shrimp and hush puppies that other people here is talking about! cant wait!

I have been trying to find good fried fish for a while now, and this place finally fit the bill. They serve fresh fried catfish and tilapia fillets with lots of meat on them. There’s no fishy aftertaste at all. Ordering the small fish dinner is still very filling. They also give you fries and a huge piece of bread to eat with the fish. Love dipping the fish into their hot sauce as well. Yummy! Next time I will try their hush puppies.
