This park is beautiful and has great views of the skyline. The ONLY problem is that dog owners let their dogs off leash here. The dogs trample the gorgeous flower beds, dig holes, ruin the grass and are a MAJOR nuisance to the community. There is an elementary school adjacent and many children coming and going, hence this is a TERRIBLE area for a dog park. I love animals and am a pet owner, but people, keep your dog on the leash here. It is dangerous for the dogs too.

This is a nice neighborhood park. 5 years ago it used to be even nicer, and everybody could enjoy it. Now, lawbreaking jackasses with serious entitlement issues have ruined it with their dogs off leashes. Maybe they shouldn’t have dogs if they don’t have their own yard to exercise them in? I love dogs, but last I checked, the law says that they’re supposed to be on leashes. I watched a girl minding her own business reading a book in the grass when one of these jerks entered the park, let their dog off the leash, and the dog was all over the poor girl. She packed up and left. If they do end up designating this a dog park, then so be it. But until then, it’s not. And now thanks to them, it’s closed to everybody for the time being.

Why has this park been closed to the public for the last 3 months. I am seriously losing my mind on this. I have been trying to petition Burnett Jr for last 2 months to designate it to a dog park. He said he is very close to doing so and I just need a few hundred more signatures.

My doggy, Millie, loves Bickerdike Park! I live just a few blocks from this park and every time we head that way on a walk, she gets so excited because she knows we’re headed there! If it’s late at night, I’ll let her off her leash(shhh!) and she loves running laps around the large groups of flowers and foliage. There are lots of other dogs that visit Bickerdike that Millie loves to meet and play with. Across the street, there are some old and«bickery» tenants that keep a watch out to see if the dogs are leashed. I’ve heard rumors that one tenant actually video tapes people letting their dog off their leash to run around, and then calls the cops! Whew, that’s major dog hate.
