We bought the Pineapple-Coconut Cake and a Caramel Cake. Desserts are usually the first to go at my house. When offering cake to go, everyone declined saying the cakes tasted old and dry. I tasted a piece of each and they were right. I had to throw out the cakes. Paid a lot to have to go in the trash. Disappointed!!! Not sure what is going on with this place but the cakes were great in the past. I will make my own cakes from now on! Bye Angelica !!!

I’m at Angelica’s on 87th, called yesterday and the lady told me it would be simple, just come in the same day and I could have caramel put on a pound cake. I just got here and I’m the only customer. I asked to have caramel put on a pound cake and the lady said I would have to leave this store and go to their Hazelcrest store. I told her the lady yesterday said I could have it done simply here. Well they charged me $ 28.98 and $ 5.00 extra for the caramel. That’s ludicrous and I will never come here again. I will go to the north side where they make sense. This is ridiculous! I’m at 87th in Chicago and I am the ONLYCUSTOMER right now and when I ask for caramel to be put on a pound cake I’m told to go to the Hazelcrest store. Folks get full of themselves when they get success and these people are ridiculous and wanted to argue with me.

My last few treks(3 total) to the S-side to purchase baked goods have been disappointing. The butter cookies and 7-up based pound cake tasted odd. It seems as though all of the pound cakes are 7-up based, if I’m not mistaken, which is UGH! Cookies/Cake were thrown in the garbage, and for me to throw baked goods in the garbage, you better believe it was because my taste buds weren’t feeling it :/ I’ve had to return sweet potato pies in the past, because«something» just wasn’t right :/ I’m moving on, as there must be new amateur/unseasoned/unsupervised baker(s) in the kitchen that doesn’t know what he/she is doing :/ #QUALITYoverQUANTITY!

We bought a carrot cupcake, a red velvet cupcake and a caramel cupcake. They were large, but dry and there was nothing special about the taste. I expected more for the price. The staff were friendly and the display case was full of cakes and a few other items. Not much variety.

I hate going to a place and get ignored by one of the employees. I was the only one there. An older lady, maybe the owner, was busy w paper work and she finally acknowledged me. But the cashier was inattentive. She didn’t even say thanks for coming, but the owner did. Anyways… I ordered the oatmeal raisin and the pineapple coconut in a jar. The cookies were grainy as if it wasn’t mixed well. The cake was ok. Nothing you couldn’t get at ur local grocery store. I just wished it had more flavor. More chewiness to the cookies. More homemade flavor to the cake. It was an average place with subpar service.

I’m usually someone who eats cookies or donuts with their coffee in the morning, and I’ve never had a really bad sweet tooth. That is, until I was introduced to Angelica’s! My goodness gracious, any time I am near this location or the one on 175th and Kedzie, I HAVE to buy something. The banana pudding is like Grandma’s!

It was just okay for me. I had banana pudding, a slice of cream cheese cake, and a double chocolate cupcake. The cupcake was dry and the frosting tasted like it came out of a can. Lots of variety here, though. They have a lot of cake flavors as well as cookies, pies, and muffins. The prices are very reasonable and the staff was nice as well.

a Christan-based bakery?! With a caramel cake THISGOOD?! Sign me up for Bible study, baby! Angelica’s Bakery isn’t your average frou-frou bakery! They baked goods that taste like your Mom could have made it in her kitchen. No fancy french pastries or designer cupcakes! Just good ol’ sheet cakes, slices of cake, peach cobbler, and assorted pies and cupcakes! Sounds plain but that’s what make it’s so special! They focus on ONE thing do right by it! Their caramel cake is IT! A perfect balance of fluffy AND moist cake, with the most decadent caramel flavor frosting. Served up in thick slices that leave you wanting more! I think I’m gonna leave this review at that before it goes into«soft-core porn» category… lol… jk! Next time you’re on the Southside, check this place out! Their staff is also super friendly!
