Aldo Accessories

NEGATIVE STARS!!!
Had some friends in from LA and I thought we’d go to Water Tower for some shopping because my friend’s 11 year old daughter was begging for us to take her somewhere to buy jewelry. So she saw Aldo and wanted to go in. From the time they went in (I waited in front of the store as they looked around), one of their workers was shadowing them, on their ass, as if they were criminals. As they walked out, she pretty much accused my friend’s daughter of taking a ring. Asking if they «put the ring back» and when my friend said «yes, she looked at the price and put it back» the girl, with a MAJOR condescending attitude said «I didn’t see her put it back.» My friend told her to go ahead and search her daughter, to which she got a nasty dirty look from the girl who, as she walked away saying «no, that’s ok.»
I was so embarrassed and tried to reassure my friend and her daughter that not all Chicagoans are racist, stereo-​typing a-​holes like the ones who work at Aldo Accessories.
We ended up finding AND PURCHASING some really cute items from another store in the mall, with EXCELLENT customer service.

I’ve been to a few other locations, so I knew what to expect. The selection is more youthful and trendy that I normally prefer, but I *did* find a headband for my wedding outfit a few years ago. I was hopeful this time around for an accessory to go with my outfit for tonight.
Wasn’t looking for any particular accessory. I scored a couple of their necklaces in their ‘2 for 1′ clearance rack. A simple chain adorned with little gold ‘sequins’ throughout. The coordinating silver one was perfect. Both were marked down from $ 15 to $ 11.98. Modest, tasteful, and at a fantastic price.

I had a disappointing experience here. I saw the cutest black rain boots and asked if they came in a size 5, to which the sales associate replied «Maybe, I’m not sure» and then pointed me to some other boots that may or may not come in my size. Not once did she go check if they carried my size. The only other thing I got out of her was that «sometimes they run small so you might be able to wear a 6,» before I decided I had had enough. Too bad because it looked like they had some cute purses and jewelry.
