I know — 5 stars for Aldi? Yes, and they’ve earned every last one of them. I used to grimace at the thought of eating anything from an Aldi. Then, I realized that I wasn’t rich and would much rather spend my cash on shoes and shows. My mom had been raving for a while so I figured if it’s good enough for moms, it’s good enough for me. When I can get 2 weeks worth of groceries for $ 60 — I’m a happy camper. The pork tenderloins are awesome here. A pound for about $ 3. 8 oz of goat cheese for $ 2. This insanely delicious caramel pecan danish for $ 3 that pairs amazingly well with their thick cut maple bacon for $ 4(I think) Seriously — there are deals to be had here folks. My only advice is remember to BYOB(bring your own bags) and stay away from the produce. Instead, walk on over to Cermak Produce(in the same strip mall) and get fresher veggies for much less.

I am on an Aldi roll! I haven’t visited this location in a few months as it is in Pilsen(it was close to the school I worked at last semester) but it’s a good’un. We used to come here when we lived in the loop because we lived right across from the #60 bus and this Aldi is right by a #60 bus stop. Convenient? I think so! It’s not the most organized(or as Theresa C. says, clean) Aldi I’ve ever been to, but it gets the job done. Since all Aldis carry the same staple products(cereals, breads, dairy, meat, etc) you can get all of your shopping done here in one trip. This Aldi sometimes carries different specialty products(like cheeses or meats) than other Aldis, so it’s kind of cool to check all the locations out to see what you can get. The produce here isn’t the greatest(it’s one of the smallest sections I’ve ever seen) but it’s probably because the kick-ass Cermak Produce is right next door(go there). The parking lot is nice and convenient if you have a car(it’s big and there’s always a lot of space) and funny things always happen here(at least to me). Let me share: Once Theresa C. and I were here and we were walking in and laughing and this woman stopped us and said to me, «You have a great laugh. You should be on a TV show.» Honestly, the greatest thing we’ve ever heard. What did she mean? I should be the laugh track? Or should it be a TV show of me sitting in a room laughing? Either way, genius. I just had to share.

I really like this Aldi. The lines move really quickly all the time, they have almost everything I want. No Skim milk most of the time though. It’s not the cleanest Aldi, but it’s not bad and it’s usually not too crowded. This Aldi gets extra points for being next to a Cermack Produce. That cuts my shopping time in half because I can go to Aldi get my staples, dry goods, and frozen meat and then head next door for the cheapest/best quality tomatoes in the city, along with all the other cheap and delicious produce, plus they usually have my milk.
