Awesome breakfast sandwiches! Try the Italian one with prosciutto! Nice Americano too.

I’m shocked at all the good reviews on here. My experience was on par with the 1 and 2 star ones. Are they gaming Unilocal somehow? Everything about this place was uninviting. The staff is incredibly rude and out of touch with basic manners. They make you feel like they really really don’t want your business. I walked in, big smile on my face, and ordered a breakfast sandwich. The lady looked at me like she really did not want to sell me one and then said something about how it wasn’t available. I got a pastry instead. I asked to use the bathroom and they wouldn’t let me. The whole experience was very uncomfortable.

Veggie scramble sandwich. Yummy! Love the breakfast at Aje and the coffee. Can’t go wrong here. The potato hash brown is a winner.

wow my San Diego Scrambler was slamin! It had tomato, red onion, perfectly scrambled eggs, feta cheese, and a little bit of balsamic vin. Again just WOW! I would give this place five stars but the service is spotty and inconsistent.

I’ve lived near this café for 9 months and never had an urge to try it out. I was looking for a quick and simple breakfast on a Saturday morning and decided to give this place a try. The breakfast sandwiches are good but there’s no WOW factor — the smoked bacon, egg & cheddar sandwich is basically just those 3 ingredients with some tomato and red onion slices on an Engilsh muffin. This seems like a great place to study and get work done. If you check in here on Unilocal, you get 15% off your order!

Maybe the food is good but I’ll never know because it takes 2 days to make a sandwich. The guy making it couldn’t be more rude to his employee and therefore she’s not that friendly to customers. Too bad, I was looking forward to it based on all the reviews.

This spot was a surprisingly good one! I just picked up a quick breakfast sandwich, but was really pleased. The prices are fair, and they have some really good options for many tastes. I would suggest any of their grilled breakfast sandwiches and the potato pancake!

I absolutely love Aje Café. I’ve been coming here since I moved to Chicago a year ago and I’ve always ordered the same thing– The California Club with a side of ranch. To me, it is absolute perfection. The double-decked thinly sliced turkey with avocado and everything else in between dipped in ranch and that pasta salad, oh my gahhhh! It is literally my favorite thing to eat in all of Chicago. Not a day goes by that I don’t crave this sandwich. I could eat it every single day because it is THAT good and it makes me so happy. I also love that the owners always know what I’m going to order and always remembers the side of ranch. That also makes me very happy. So yes, this place is amazing.

This tiny hole in the wall place is a perfect spot to just sit down and enjoy small crafted bites! Just off the beaten path of Belmont, this location offers free wifi and peaceful interior to get whatever work done. Did I mention they have great music selection playing too? What could sweeten the deal — Check in on Unilocal and get 15% off an order of $ 10 or more!

We stumbled upon Aje while wandering the city. They serve excellent Panini’s! Their cappucinos are also lovely and the free wifi doesn’t hurt. They serve Intelligentsia coffee. Nice spot to grab lunch and relax for a bit.

I stopped in here on a warm winter day recently to grab an Iced Coffee and it really hit the spot. The staff was super friendly and they seemed to have quite the crowd of people eating and reading. We waited about 10 minutes for our iced drinks but I didn’t mind waiting considering I was watching the 2 employees literally making everything to order. The sandwiches look great just don’t come famished and expect a pre-made sandwich right away– even though it looks like a quick café, it seems like they take the quality of their food seriously and while they seemed to be working quickly, you can only work so fast. I will definitely be back to try their food!

Cute quaint café serves delicious fresh made sandwiches & coffee/tea & more… Own by a very friendly couple, I’ve been going now for couple years & addicted to the pasta salad(homemade) … Their tuna sandwich is delicious, along with the capresse… They offer a huge variety of fresh sandwiches hot or cold… Free wifi quiet place, support the neighborhood & its small business owners!!!

Needed to pass some time before work meeting so 3 coworkers and I decided to check out Aje Café. Been looking forward to checking out Café in the city since my Europe trip couple months back. Atmosphere was how it should be for small Café shop, trendy but with vintage style, free wifi, and good tea/coffee options. I ordered the Pesto Turkey panini(switch to Salsalito Turkey) with Sriracha mayo along with home made pasta on the side. Combination of flavor and crispness of panini made it a perfect meal. Adding the Peanut-butter and chocolate chip cookie also helped. haha If you are driving i don’t think you’ll have an issue find a street parking.

This is my new favorite place. The sandwiches are great, especially the Chicken Saltimbocca. The owners are two of the hardest working people I see on a regular basis. The place is for sandwiches, but it has a cool coffee shop vibe.

Came here cause of the reviews, it’s more about the food than the experience/atmosphere. It’s really laid back where you can probably come here for a quick date or meet up. I believe they use Boar’s Head for most of their food, which is great because it’s one of the best deli brands. They also use intelligentsia which I guess is good. $ 4 for a breakfast sandwich is pretty good. I got the Bacon Cheddar or something, which comes with a tomato and some onions on it and it was a great breakfast sandwich. I wasn’t amazed by the place, but I may come back just to chill. Place is sort of small which kills the ambiance though. I don’t think I’d come here for brunch with many people… maybe just a place to stop by. I’ll need to come back for lunch.

As a Unilocaler I have the duty to share what I find great in the community and as much as I don’t want to spread the word of this delightful café because I want to keep it just the way it is, it would be negligent on my part if I chose not to post about something so wonderful. I think I may have just found my perfect café! + quiet with some light music playing softly in the background + not ridiculously crowded in the mornings/afternoons + lots of options for breakfast/lunch with sandwiches/wraps/salads, etc that are well priced + my turkey pesto panini + the side of fruit salad was fantastic. I detected plum, berries, apple, and pear(the best soft Asian pears too). Only wish there was more of it! + staff is super nice. I definitely did not observe any actions that other folks were describing below and I stayed a good 6 hours. Granted, I left a few hours prior to closing time. Any negatives? Can’t think of any. Thank you for letting me spend my Sunday here Aje Café. With that said, I’m holding onto the slightest sliver of hope that it does not become too overly crowded anytime soon.
