I have been getting frequent massages for over 30 years so I have a lot of experience with different massage techniques and practitioners. I first started getting massages from Rock at Rose Massage about 2 years ago and have followed him to A New Life Spa. He gives the BEST deep tissue massage of any I have ever had. He is very kind and also listens well to any of my requests. He is also very intuitive about problem areas of my back. I’ve had massages at fancier spas for triple the price, but I have never had a better massage for working out tight muscles.

A 1 star review is serious business here on Unilocal,so please read on as to why I would not take visit New Life Spa again, nor would I recommend it if the same things I describe below bother you: – Masseuse did not speak English, other than a few words. She could not understand my questions about the service or procedures. Luckily, our couples massage was in the same room, so the masseuse who could understand some English was able to translate, but this was unacceptable to me. – Neither masseuse reviewed with us prior to the session our needs for the massage, or areas to skip or go lighter on. – A soft roll(typically goes under the ankles when on your back, and under your knees when on your front) was not provided, which made lying down a bit of an unnatural experience. – We were not informed that this would be a deep-tissue/chiropractic session prior to starting or booking. The session included several times to try to «crack» our backs, and pushing down on our knees while our legs were bent, causing discomfort in the legs and hip-flexors. As a result, we both experienced neck and upper back pain throughout the rest of the day. – There were no blankets. There was a thin piece of paper(such as you would have at a doctor’s office) covering the massage table, and a shower towel was provided to cover up the body. The room wasn’t cold, but we were barely covered up. – Since there were only 2 staff members there, and we were getting a couples massage, whenever the phone rang or someone appeared at the door, one masseuse had to leave the room to attend to this. – Both masseuses got very very close to our private parts during the massage, either with the tips of their fingers or when massaging deep into the rear end. The experience wasn’t relaxing. I might be describing a typical deep-tissue or sports massage experience, which in that case, this might be the right place for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing massage, with a warm bed, and masseuses who are sensitive to your body, do not visit New Life Spa.

I originally listed this as four stars but changed it to five – as long as you get the right people. The older staff(Rose, the owner, Judy, and some others) are more seasoned and understand how to perform a deep tissue massage. A couple of the younger people are not bad also The style of massage, is shall we say, different from what Westerners are used to(note the reviews by others on Pain Stop), but the depth is wonderful. I really feel relaxed, and right now they’ve mainly been charging $ 56 per hour if you ask the discount(this has been going on for a long time). Couples massages here are really a good value also – for $ 110 an hour. Staff I’ve worked with are very professional. My wife and I love it.

This is the latest location from the owners of Rose Spa. It’s a great new location– plenty of parking on the street, a beautiful entry room, and three large massage rooms. The cost is 65 an hour, but there are many 5 dollar off coupons. There are several good masseuses– some better than others. I have never been comfortable having a male masseur, but the owner(his English name is «Rock”– they are from China) asked me a while back if he could give me a massage. Knowing he is married to the co-owner and they have college aged kids, I figured it wouldn’t be too awkward. I’m so glad I agreed! Rock is my favorite person to see for a massage, and now he is at the new location. He’s strong enough for a great massage, does a great head and neck massage, and is an expert at Chinese foot massage. While this isn’t the fanciest massage you’ll ever get, it is certainly great value for the price. I usually make an appointment in advance, but they also take walk ins. They also turn away people who ask if the women are pretty or to see them first– it is an honest operation. I do recommend them for a good quality massage!
