Canine Detection & Inspection Services

I have a particularly tricky situation: I am being relocated for work in the middle of a bed bug infestation that my landlord refuses to treat professionally. This means I don’t have time to pursue legal action against him. Faced with the reality that there is no way to ensure I won’t be moving bed bugs with me to my new apartment, I called Canine Detection & Inspection Services. My hopes were to identify and spot treat specific items prior to moving. After discussing other strategies and options, their representative told me a canine inspection might not be that useful to me in my current, so I didn’t actually use their service. Based on my interaction with them I can certainly attest to their honesty and legitimate concern for meeting the needs of their customers though. If you are in a situation where a canine inspection makes sense I would highly recommend them.

I learned about CDIS through
when I had the unfortunate experience of living in a high rise that became infested with bedbugs. Unfortunately, because the building was a condo building, there wasn’t a unified, systematic plan for addressing the issue (each condo owner for him/​herself). Thankfully my 2-​year lease had ended, and I was renting on a month-​to-​month at the time because the landlord hadn’t sent me the renewal lease yet, so I was able to move out. As I prepared for my move, my primary concerns were that I wasn’t moving into another building with a bedbug infestation and that I wasn’t bringing any bedbugs with me. I loaded everything I owned into a uhaul and had it treated with Vikane gas at a pest control facility in the suburbs (one of the most effective treatments available). Then, on moving day, CDIS met me at my new building, inspected everything in my uhaul, and inspected my new apartment. The whole bedbug fiasco was quite a traumatic experience for me (as anyone who has had bedbugs can understand), so I was very anxious every time I got any mark on my body that even remotely looked like a bedbug bite for several months after my move, and I believe I hired CDIS 2 – 3 more times in my first year here.
Every encounter I’ve had with CDIS has been top-​notch! My contact person was Bernie, and her people skills are impeccable. Not only is she personable and compassionate, but she is highly knowledgeable about bedbugs, and she works in an organized and efficient manner. All of the communication, paperwork, etc required for each visit was completed seamlessly. CDIS is very fortunate to have Bernie! As for my CDIS inspections. .. they were also quite enjoyable (considering the circumstances). Just like Bernie, the humans were personable, compassionate, and knowledgeable, and the dogs were so professional (and sweet and cuddly once they were done working!)! It should also be noted, CDIS is very discrete.
I am moving again in a few months, and as anyone who has had the unfortunate necessity to learn about bedbugs knows. .. a large percentage of moving trucks are infested with bedbugs (think about all the people who are moving to escape bedbugs but don’t first treat their belongings carefully) and many people move into units that already have bedbugs. Needless to say, I will be scheduling an inspection with CDIS, and I have/​always will recommend them above any other inspection service to people with bedbug concerns! Thank you, CDIS!

I recently had CDIS come out to my house to check for bed bugs. I was so pleased with how professional, friendly, and meticulously thorough they were. Not only did they have their dog, Molly, check both my house and my car, but the handlers themselves did a visual inspection. When CDIS gave me the all clear I had complete confidence that I no longer had bed bugs. Using CDIS was the best decision I could have made.
