The service was good the food was not so much. I had the guisado de puerco and it appeared to be a tomato based soup. I’ve had this before in other places but never served in the manner. The potatoes where undercooked. They also don’t carry nonalcoholic beer.

Okay, so some may squirm at this, but Pepe’s Restaurant in Chicago Heights is one of my favorite south suburban restaurants. The staff are friendly and greet you as you enter. You are seated according to your preference(table, booth, or bar). The restaurant is clean and decorated in a festive manner, with a lot of bright colors.(Now, let me say, the bathroom needs updating and improving)… If you go mid-day, there is the option of a small buffet or special order from the menu… Ladies and gentlemen, I am not usually a fan of buffets because the food is usually not well prepared, picked over, and cold. But, let me tell you, Pepe’s in Chicago Heights has a buffet with piping hot food, very well-prepared, and well– attended to by the staff!!! Maybe because it is a smaller restaurant, the staff are able to pay close attention to the needs of the buffet. But, there is never an empty pan! The buffet is $ 5.99 with a drink order or $ 7.99 without a drink order. If you choose to order from the menu, your food is generally delivered in lightning fast time! It is fresh, well-seasoned, and presented nicely. Now, for the Margaritas!!! They are very sweet! But, I like it like that! An assortment of flavors are available, frozen or shaken… It is scrum-delicious!!! Half-Priced Margaritas are every Monday and Wednesday at this location! Plus, if you do not want to dine in… There are $ 1 Tacos and Tostados on certain days of the week for carry-out!!! Can you believe it!

Normally my fiancée and I dine at this establishment every week, Since she loves it so much. This afternoon the wait staff was not courteous and disrespectful. My drink order was wrong, but i let that slide without confrontation. We were going to order more drinks and food, but the waitresses were no where to be seen. When they finally showed up to our table it was with the bill. We didn’t ask for the bill. All we wanted was for them to show up at the table and ask«is everything okay, or, is there anything else I can get for you?». The restaurant had less than five tables at the time. When told of the horrible service the younger waitress responded with«okay». As if she was aware of her actions and had no care to rectify the experience. The normal wait staff can take care of a packed restaurant with one waitress and two busboys. I wish they were working, for this horrid service would of never happened. I hope Pepe’s corporation doesn’t view this as proper service behavior among its staff.

This is for the service on Thursday 07-09-2015. My boyfriend ordered a drink on the rock but we got frozen drink. Nobody came to the table to fill up the waters or ask if we want to order more drink. We come here every week but this is the worst experience i ever had here. We won’t be coming back again!

Don’t even think about going to this location. There was a cockroach in the refried beans on the buffet. This place is absolutely disgusting!

Not good. I went 2 months ago on the night with the«dj» in the 21+ side. It’s a place where they have men begging you for money in the parking lot. Scary. The dj was blasting music from his laptop. You can’t hear anyone sitting next to you. They turn off the regular lights and put on colored strobe lights. This allows you to not see your food. There’s no dance floor section(which is good) so there’s no reason to make a dining experience fit a club experience. My friend’s and my order came out very fast. The food was not pipping hot and it looked like it had been sitting for a while and was just heated in a microwave. I won’t be back.

The only Pepe’s I know in this area that has a buffet for lunch. Everything is fresh from their beef down to steak fajitas, even the condiments had a fresh look and taste to it. The setting is typical Pepe’s style so don’t walk in here too be wowed. I definitely left here full as hell. The only downside is that I needed a refill and napkins no one could help us out. Sorry Pepe’s this is the only reason why you got four stars from me.
