We tried to go but they are doing major renovations on the property so it was closed :-(

While on an afternoon trip to Wyoming we happened along this little slice of paradise. It was not what I expected, it was much more. By winter it’s a greenhouse that helps to feed those in need. The handicapable and others who perform community service tend the plants inside. The greenhouse is 100% solar powered and it’s about 80 degrees in the winter inside. You will notice your glasses fog up immediately as you walk in on a cold day. All sorts of interesting plants live inside the greenhouse as well as a neat little cactus garden and coy pond. 3 It’s located on the properly just behind the frontier days property and next year they will begin a very large expansion and development of the gardens. I will make it a point to visit during the summer months to see the rest of the grounds. Most things were closed for the winter but the greenhouse is open and free to the public. Even though it’s free, make sure to leave a donation to help keep this wonderful operation going.

I’m quite glad we stopped for a visit. This is a city gem that local residents should be proud of. The green house has solar panels. Nice

What a beautiful, peaceful garden Cheyenne has! There are informational signs, a variety of pretty plants and sculptures as well as ponds all within the Gardens. The greenhouse is awesome, and the Children’s Garden is the coolest part! Dog friendly and welcoming, I caught myself smiling the entire time! Kudos!

Something I even liked better was the Paul Smith Children’s Village area of the botanical gardens. There are tons of things to look at like a raft like thing to pull yourself to another side of a pond, an old windmill, a ‘secret garden’,(and much more!) and inside the building for the Children’s Village there houses a gorgeous little greenhouse with all kinds of plants! The children’s area definitely earned the botanical gardens a five star rating after going through there!

With all the improvements over the years, this place always has something new and innovative. Shane Smith has worked hard and his commitment to the Cheyenne community proves this. I’m an avid supporter of CBG, even though I live in Denver, and will continue to look a bit further north of Denver to get inspiration. Keep up the hard work… you make Cheyenne proud. If you haven’t been to the gardens and you’re from out of state, you must visit.
