This store is pretty discrete and understated, I almost didn’t see it! My interest was piqued of course and I decided to walk in. The interior definitely has a chic European boutique vibe. Really loved the minimalistic design. It contrasts nicely with the fancy script design and packaging on the products. The sales staff here are nice, pleasant and attentive. And bonus, they’re not pushy! If you’re looking to splurge a bit, on yourself or someone else, this is the place to do it. Just for reference, their most popular hand cream(smells so wonderfully lemony/citrusy) costs $ 55 and their lip cream/balm is $ 35. If you’re making bread check this place out, for those of us at the breadcrumb level, stay away, the temptation may be too great!

I’ve visited the original Santa Maria Novella pharmacy in Florence and it is amazing! I am so happy that there is a shop in the DC metro area to browse their exquisite goods. If you’re looking for high end gifts(think luxury soap, lotions, facial mists, perfumes, etc) or looking to treat yourself, this is great little boutique. I came here on my birthday to pick out a perfume and the sales associate was extremely patient and kind to me, working through all of the different scents and guiding me towards a decision I would not regret! I visited on a Friday afternoon… I don’t think anyone else came in while I was there so I felt truly spoiled. Upon checkout I also received a few samples(and chocolates!) which was a nice touch.

If I were to rate this spot on the staff alone, it would easily be 5 stars — the person I spoke with was fantastic. Unfortunately, I really didn’t enjoy the fragrances and thought the prices were too high to take a chance on the ones I was on the fence about(think $ 40 for a bar of soap). They are all naturally scented and it is a lovely little shop, though, so if you’re in the neighborhood, I’d definitely stop by.

Went to Florence, Italy for the first time this past summer with the Hubby. I remembered Santa Maria Novella from walking around the city. When we returned to the States, I was so excited to see a SMN in Friendship! The products are expensive, so you need to go in expecting this. However, I just used my rose soap for the first time today, and it is sublime. $ 16, but sublime. I smell awesome. The products are of high quality, and I’m assuming imported, so the price is not so surprising taking these things into consideration. I’m about to return to buy some of their sachets for my closet.

You cannot imagine my excitement when I found out that they were opening a Santa Maria Novella store in DC! I fell in love with these products in Florence where everything is still handmade with organic ingredients. They have skin care, bath products and home fragrance. The staff, Jenny and Shamus were very helpful and helped me pick out a great bath oil. It’s pricy but certainly worth the splurge!
