Chevy Chase custom Tailors is my go to place for dry cleaning my custom shirts and occasional alterations to my sons tuxedos that he has been wearing for orchestra concerts with Bethesda Chase high school. This family owned business is efficient, friendly and quality focused!

I’m surprised at the reviews, since I had a great experience getting my shirts made and also having some jackets tailored. They all fit great and I feel like I have a new wardrobe. I highly recommend the place, the work was refined and to my liking

He ruined an expensive suit trying to fix a simple collar roll. Customer service experience was similar to Diana Q’s: extremely defensive and rude when you have a complaint. Not recommended!

I brought my wedding dress to Chevy Chase Custom Tailors for alterations and would NOT recommend them. I was quoted one(high) price for the complete dress alterations, but when came to pick the dress up found that 2 things were still not fitted correctly. I was charged an additional amount to fix those(which should have been done in the first round of alterations). When I finally picked up the dress after the second round of alterations, I was not even given the opportunity to try it on in the shop! I got home and tried it on and the alterations were uneven. So, after hundreds of dollars and 2 months … I still have to take my dress somewhere else to be corrected.

This place has been mediocre. I came here three times. The first time I came down(I work in the same building) and asked if they could take my measurements, and was told it costs $ 25.00. I thought this was too expensive, but since then have heard that this is the normal cost. So I let that go, and came back a second time to get a dress altered. They did a good job on the dress, although I still felt that it was pricey. The third time is what makes me refuse to return. I had another dress that needed an alteration. It appeared to be a decent alteration job. Boy, was I wrong! The outside layer of the dress was altered, but the dress lining inside was not. This created a problem with my zipper and it got stuck. This was the worst zipper situation I have experienced. I couldn’t get it unstuck! I tried it at home, I even asked my boyfriend and coworkers to make an attempt at fixing it. Finally, I went back down to Chevy Chase Custom Tailors. I asked if she could try to get it unstuck– maybe she had a special tool since she is a tailor. I was told she couldn’t fix it unless a new zipper was sewn in, and told me it cost $ 50.00 for the new zipper. I already paid $ 50 to have the dress altered(it was a small dress, not like a bridesmaids dress). A co-worker ended up getting the zipper unstuck for free. It’s strange that I would have to pay for something that should have been fixed in the first place. I am short, small and work in the same building as the tailor, they obviously lost a lot of business because everything I wear needs to be altered. She could have made an attempt at fixing the zipper, and admitting they were wrong by not cutting out the excess material on the lining. Now, every time the dress is zipped up, I need to go to great lengths to ensure that I don’t have another stuck zipper. This place is money-hungry, and needs to polish up their customer service skills. They are mediocre at their alterations.
