I walked into JJ’s Deli with average expectation not knowing what I was getting into. I walked into the liquor area and I remember thinking this is a pretty average, decent liquor store. However, I had a different mission than acquiring liquor. My stomach was rumbling and I was in need of some healthy proteins and carbs. I immediately walked to the deli section and laid my eyes on the menu. The chicken salad sandwich was calling my name and I decided I would answer the call. I order a 12 inch chicken salad sandwich. I thought this would be all I would get but then I remembered that I am a cole slaw connoisseur. My theory is you can tell if a place has good food by the cole slaw of the place. Well I ordered a small side of cole slaw and began my wait for the food. Luckily for me I didn’t have to wait long. At this point I still was uncertain about how good this food would be. I was nervous and anxious. I decided I would take the food back to my room and eat it there so that if the food was poor at least I would have the consoling factor of a television. I walked back to my room not knowing what I was about to eat. In my paper bag I had an absolutely stunning and gorgeous chicken salad sandwich that blew me away. The comfortable and correct amount of mix between mayo and chicken made my experience wonderful. Better yet the chicken salad had a sweet undertone that honestly surprised me. Next I decided the slaw needed to enter my stomach. Boy was I in for another surprise. Not unlike the chicken salad the ratio and sweet undertone stunned me as I ate an absolute awesome slaw. Overall I rate JJ’s Deli very highly and I can’t wait to go back soon and try other stuff on the menu. I do know this: if your looking for a divine chicken salad sub and cole slaw go to JJ’s IMMEDIATELY. Unless it’s after 9 pm they’re closed.
