I have been coming here for years. I am extremely picky about my hair and each time I come, I am grateful for Teresa and her staff. I work primarily with Teresa, but over the years, I have seen nearly everyone there and to a person, they do an amazing job, regardless what I end up having done or who does the work. Teresa knows I’m picky about my hair and works really hard to make sure that no matter what, when I walk out the door, that I’m happy with my hair. I just had my hair done a couple of days ago and I am absolutely ecstatic with the results. A year ago I moved 30 miles away and still refuse to go anywhere else. They’re great! But this isnt just about me. I have a daughter with down syndrome. In an effort to save drive time, I recently attempted to have her hair cut nearer to where we now live. The results were nothing short of horrible and the people treated her like an uncomfortable imposition. I took her back to G. Alenas to clean up what someone else had messed up. She saw Danielle. Not only did Danielle do a fantastic job with her hair, but she treated my daughter with what I can only describe as love. I’ve learned my lesson. We won’t be going anywhere else.

DONOTGOTOJESSICA: I’ve had a very disappointing experience at this salon with a specific hair stylist, Jessica. My normal stylist Taylor had to cancel my appointment due a personal matter but I need to get my hair done before a family function over memorial weekend. Taylor didn’t have any availability before Memorial weekend, so I decided to see a another stylist which happened to be Jessica. I made the appointment for right after work, so it was later in the day but was schedule two weeks out to give her enough time to cancel or reschedule. Upon arriving at my appointment, I explained to Jessica that I wanted to get highlights(Carmel blond) which would not require any bleaching. My hair is currently a dark auburn. Jessica told me that If I highlighted my hair, it would fall out. I was shocked because I’ve never been told this. My hair is one solid color, and I haven’t had any highlights in it since last year. At this point, I thought well if she said its’ going to fall out, she knows more than me. I agree to go a solid color, I wasn’t happy about it but what can you do? So as we were going through the color swashes every color that I picked Jessica said I couldn’t do because it would show my roots(please notes that all of these colors was similar to what I already had). She then told me that the only color that I could(should) get is a mocha which is the color of my natural color. I was floored! I explained to her that I’m not interested in brown. She told me that mocha isn’t a brown. Ummm really? Mocha isn’t brown? in what freak universe is Mocha not brown? I kindly, refused and walked out. This wasted my time, and now I can’t get into anyone else until after memorial weekend. I felt that Jessica was not professional nor knowledgeable about her job. If she didn’t want to do my hair, it would of made more sense to simply cancel the appointment. This whole experiences makes me not want to go back to this salon but I do like Taylor. It’s a shame that Jessica lacks such basic customer service skills. Please note I did not go to management about this. I felt like nothing would be done in my favor after reading other reviews online.

Teresa and her staff are wonderful. The way they take care of their guest is like family. They always welcome me with a smile, I feel relaxed and their attention to detail is appreciated. I recommend if you are looking for a great place to have your hair/nails done this is the go to place.

Go to Taylor! I had complete virgin hair from not coloring it for years upon years. I was scared to color my hair again because I know how much I hate the damage it does to the quality of your hair, and because half the time I was never happy with the aesthetics of the results anyways. Basically I went into my appointment wanting like 30 different things, and not even really giving Taylor that great of an idea of what I was looking for other than«lighter» haha. She was great during her consultation on talking me through all the different things she could do, and how it would turn out, and what color it would fade to, everything. Her honesty is what had me put all my trust in her hands. And guess what, MYHAIRLOOKSBOMBAMAZING! She gave me the best balayage/ombré job a girl could ask for. I also want to mention that I explained to her how low maintenance I am with my hair and how I wanted it to look attractive even when its straightened(that’s the only styling I know how to do), and she fricken nailed it. The girl knows her color. I’ve added three pictures we took of my hair today. I am so so SO pleased.

I really do not appreciate the way I was treated as a customer at this salon. I’ve been to plenty of other salons, and never have I ever felt more taken advantage of. 1. I went in and wanted my hair properly colored to reflect a baylage look. I had a lot of new growth and my hair already kind of looked like it. BUT what I asked for(&showed her pictures of), was for her to give me a gradient of blondes — from dark to really light. 2. What I got: toner all over for approximately 15 minutes, a trim, and my hair curled. Not what I asked for. I asked for a nice transitions of color and when I asked her why she was NOT bleaching the ends, she said she didn’t want to damage my hair.(But I would of got the trim to remove the dead ends…) My hair hadn’t been colored in almost a year. 3. While I was sitting there with toner on my hair, she told me she was going to call her next appointment and have them come in earlier. Fine. What was not fine, me being rushed through my hair appointment then being charged a ridiculous amount of money for making my hair look exactly how it looked previously. I might as well have set my money on fire for what I got for the service. 4. When I called a few days later to voice my concerns, I was met with lackluster responses. The manager told me my only option was to have the same lady fix my hair for free. Do you really think this a valid customer service policy? The lady who messed up my hair in the first place, gets to «fix» it. When I said I didn’t like that option, she told me a refund was not an option.(I would of taken a partial refund!) When I told the manager I didn’t want that lady working on my hair, her response was, «Well, it isn’t fair for my other stylist, so we’d have to charge you for the product used. « You know what really isn’t fair? Treating your customers like dirt. I’m super thrilled I threw away the equivalent of almost a days work on hair that wasn’t properly done(nor did she ask if I liked it! She rushed me out of there to get to her next client!) I’ll never go there again.

Today I went for my first ever… Brazilian wax. A friend and I made appointments back to back so we couldn’t wimp out! Initially I was terrified, just the idea of it had me «shakin’ in my boots». When I called to make the appointment the receptionist was pleasant and tried to ease my fears about the waxing. They also gave a reminder call a few days before the appointment to confirm. When we arrived at the salon, the same receptionist signed us in and then offered us something to drink. Considering my level of anxiety, I went for a nice glass of wine. The wine helped. My friend went first. So I waited for about 25 minutes listening if I could hear any screams. No screams, it must not be that bad I thought. My turn! The waxing lady guided me to a room in the back of the salon. The room was cozy and had a nice padded table for me to lay on. I told her this was my first time and that I would need some instruction. She was very polite and personable. She told me to undress from the waist down. I made sure to wear a dress so that this part would be easy, not to mention who wants to wear tight clothes after such trauma. She put on gloves, assessed the length and made the proper adjustments. Too long and the pain is worse and too short and the wax won’t hold onto the hair. She then applied some baby powder to the area to protect the skin from the wax. *Deep breath* She then applied the first section of wax with a wooden spatula. After one application she disposed of the spatula as to not«double dip» in the wax. She applied the strip over the wax and pressed it firmly in place. She held my skin taught then pulled the strip. My initial thoughts on the pain was«AHHHHHKELLYCLARKSON!!!». But on the outside I was cool as a cucumber. Don’t get me wrong… It is definitely painful. The«top» portion was the worst about a 7 out of 10 pain. The«inside» and the«bottom» were virtually painless. A pain of about 3 to 5 out of 10. Afterwards it feels slightly like a sunburn. I feel like my appointment was long, most likely due to the pain factor. But the whole time the wax lady made me feel comfortable and talked to me like a normal person. She was really nice and she was not bashful or embarrassed about it, which makes it less awkward as a client. She was very thorough and made sure no stray hairs were left behind. Afterwards, she applied a cooling/anti-inflammatory agent to the skin as well as a moisturizer made from natural oils. When I saw the finished product I was very pleased! I am excited to see how long it lasts, She said usually people get the wax done once a month. I would definitely recommend this salon for a first timer or even a seasoned Brazilian wax client. The staff is friendly and professional. The salon is clean and everyone uses safe clean techniques, which is important in this type of service. I will be getting this done again before my wedding in August and I will be going to G Alena!
