Great pizza and great service. They help you out when you need«special» types of pizza.

NOTVERYQUICKREVIEW! INTRO: This is locally owned pizza place located in the heart of Great Bridge. It’s quite unique and eccentric in ways that are both good and bad, but mostly good. THEGOOD: The pizza is great. Really great actually. Plus, it’s a little different than the type of pie you’d find at places like Y-Not, or Sal’s, or any of the delivery places. When I first moved to the area from VA Beach, I remember driving by the place and joking with my wife(then girlfriend) «is this where you go for authentic Chesapeake style pizza?». She was like, «that place is actually really good». She was right. Perhaps the idea of «Chesapeake style pizza» isn’t so ridiculous after all. It’s a bit more crusty than say a NY style pie, and they use more sauce too. The sauce is really great by the way. I’m someone that occasionally flirts with the idea of getting extra sauce on a pizza(which my NY pizza loving friends find ridiculous), but that’s certainly not necessary here. The toppings seem pretty fresh too, and the cheese is excellent. In addition to pizza they also have subs, pasta, and some appetizers. Also, if you eat in, the décor and ambiance is very quaint, and reminds me of going out for pizza with my family when I was a kid. THENOTSOGOOD: As other reviewers have pointed out, Chesapeake Pizza has a strict no credit cards policy. In an age where even Mr. Jims(another local favorite) down the street allows mobile phone payments, Chesapeake Pizza is steadfastly cash only. Honestly, this would be a five star review if it weren’t for this stubbornness. As someone who recently became part owner of a small business just a few years ago, I know for a fact that credit card payments are really not a big hassle in this day and age. They’re actually easier than cash in some ways. The ATM there only has $ 1.50 service fee, but still it’s 2016 for crying out loud. The future = now. The prices here are not exactly cheap, but this is pretty consistent with most other locally owned pizza places. OVERALL: The bottom line here, and as others have said, the pizza here is good enough to justify putting up with this place’s eccentricities. As annoying as «cash only» is in this day and age, Chesapeake Pizza is a real gem with a style all it’s own that should not be overlooked.

Good, consistent, local pizza place. Reasonable prices. Get pizza, *bring cash*. Wish they delivered, but it’s worth it to send someone over! Salads are not fancy(iceberg, onion, tomato, croûton) so just get the pizza and don’t fool around with anything else!

Perhaps, as one review suggests, my feelings about Chesapeake Pizza are tied to nostalgia, but it is a family favorite for pizza night. I’ve gone to Chesapeake Pizza for years, and while they offer other choices on the menu, I’ve never strayed from the pizza. While I am under no opinion this is the best pizza in town, I love their crust and the pizza is consistently good. It is cash only, which can be a pain. Grab cash from your own bank’s ATM to avoid the ridiculous charges at the ATM on premise.

It’s cash only, but they do have an ATM machine. The pizza is pretty good. They don’t have a lot of menu options though(no ranch, only two types of pasta, no Mr. Pipp for example). The restaurant looks really nice. The staff were attentive. It was pretty busy and everyone seemed like they had a great time.

First time visiting after hearing for years how great their pizza is and it did not disappoint! In fact we were surprised at how good everything was. Two pizzas, a salad and a sub — all delicious. Simple menu and definitely a 70s vibe to the décor, but delicious food.

We had lunch at Chesapeake Pizza today for the first time and liked it. The pizzas were good, as was the iced tea. Will be going back the next time we’re in the area.

Large special. Large Greek salad to go. $ 30.00. Good pizza but needs more cheese and a longer bake. Salad disappointing, almost all lettuce. Cash only.

Great Family pizza spot. Not a fan of the crust. seemed to be frozen or manufactured, could have been the pizza was a couple minutes over cooked. Not bad but I’ll probably not return :(Good job, just not a fan of the crust. Namaste.

Chesapeake Pizza has been a family favorite for at least 20 years. We have moved out of state an the first place we want to go when we come back is Chesapeake pizza. After tonight that will not be our habit anymore. They have changed everything and not for better.

Love this place but we had to leave… ALL of their high chairs were broken. Yes all of them, I checked as well as the host. I love this place and really wanted to eat here. Very disappointing

I haven’t been to Chesapeake Pizza in at least 10 years. The pizza was just as good as I remember! You know I love me some salad and veggies, so I saved up the day’s calories to have a slice with my friends. They ordered a Chesapeake special for the table. Holy bejeezus. really yummy! The crust could stand a minute or two more of cooking as it was still a bit wimpy, but the sauce and toppings did a good job carrying the flavor. I had a greek salad to go with my slice. The veggies were fresh and it came with SO much feta. They still don’t take plastic, which is a bummer, especially when you forget this fact and have to pony up fees for the ATM inside. Also, one of our friends wanted to try a slice of the«local cheesecake» but they were sold out. No worries, though. We’ll be back.

I’ve been coming here for almost 30 years now. They have the best Pizza around. The Chesapeake Special is what you should order. Amazing. Their menu is limited, but only because their food is authentic and consistent. The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars is that they only accept cash.

Make sure you bring cash because they don’t take credit cards. They have an atm inside for a small fee. That is the only downfall to this experience! Suggestion to the owner. Add a little bit to the price of the food to compensate for having a credit card service. In this day and age it’s a real inconvenience. The pizza was Amazing! I had the ‘new’ Mediterranean pizza add pepperoni minus mushrooms. It had feta and spinach on it too. Their saice is just as good as any pizza sauce I’ve ever had. C-peake pizza has perfected the art of pizza making. Their menu isn’t huge but it will definitely complete your craving for pizza and make you say … «Damn that was a great pizza!» We also had the cheesy bread with sauce and that was good too. I will definitely be back!

I have lived in Hampton Roads for over 30 years and it wasn’t until a year ago that I tried Chesapeake Pizza for the first time. I instantly fell in love. The pizza is delicious. Before trying Chesapeake Pizza, I used to think that Athens Pizza had the best greek pizza… boy was I wrong. Other than pizza, the lasagna is amazing. If you like hot cheesy/melty goodness, definitely give it a try. I do have two minor complaints, but nothing that will stop me from going back. One is that the seats/booths are very small and my other complaint is that they only accept cash. Sure, there is an ATM in the front of the restaurant, but I want the option to pay with a check card when I go out. Regardless, I will come back time and time again!

The hubs and I went here on a recommendation. After our experience, I know not to trust that source again. Talk about disappointed. We tried the cheese bread. How lazy can a restaurant be to melt a slice of mozzarella on Texas Toast? It was very bland and a total waste of $ 2.99 to order. The pizza was only slightly better than the cheese bread, but no better than something I could’ve picked up in the frozen section of the Harris Teeter down the street — and for less than half the cost. Oh well. Lesson learned. Crossing this one of the list of places to grab a pie.
