Food is below average. Hookah too. (one lamp Tajen + one hookah) total was 62 $. The good thing I was just passing through.

Food is awesome. Used to love going to see the bellydancer(Yareli), but recent bellydancer is not nearly as good. Not as likely to keep going back bc of that…

This review is ONLY for the hookah. I’ve been to numerous hookah lounges all over Philly, North Jersey, and NYC. The only reason I go to Cous Cous for hookah is because it’s literally the only place in South Jersey, otherwise if I could go to Philly or North Jersey every time I wanted hookah, I would. They charge $ 25 per hookah(one flavor) with an added 20% gratuity tip and sales tax. So, it ends up coming out to $ 32 for one hookah. It’s also a $ 5 cover charge for BYOB. Personally, that’s pretty expensive for me especially when I’m used to paying no more than $ 20 for a hookah everywhere else. If they lowered their prices just a little, Cous Cous would still be my last resort, but it would be better than nothing.

This was my first at a Moroccan restaurant and hookah bar, after this visit to this place I want to go ever weekend. It was fantastic the waiters out some of the nicest and most helpful waiters I’ve seen. The atmosphere was just perfect. And the food was to die for just absolutely perfect. If your looking for something fun, and different, something out of the normal then you need to go to cous cous

I absolutely love it here. The service is always fantastic, and the food is always great. I recommend getting one of the feasts if you are not familiar with Moroccan cuisine. It is not only a great deal price-wise, but I would not have otherwise picked out most of the options on the feast on my own. When I go back, I always end up getting the feast anyway because it is so good. It is a BYO, and the hookah is always a great way to finish off the meal. I recommend a mix of fruit with mint, or asking about the house blend. If you are not a fan of hookah and do not want it around, they usually do not bring out hookah until after a certain time, or unless other guests are okay with it. As a side note, one of my close friends is a ‘more particular’ type of eater, and they loved it! Definitely go here!

My boyfriend and I had a midweek date at the attached Cous Cous restaurant, which has a more formal atmosphere than the sandwich shop. We had two orders of the Petite 4-course meal: Bean soup, three kinds of vegetable salad, lamb Tajin(stew over couscous), and sweet fruit with a rolled piece of baklava. The meal started with a rose water hand wash and ended with mint tea. The server was kind enough to put the beer my boyfriend bought in a nice bucket of ice. The décor was dark but rather stylish(a bit busy, but that’s par for the course for Moroccan style). Our server was extremely attentive, although I’m sure that’s partly because we were the only ones there for ¾ of the meal! The food was quite tasty. My boyfriend was a big fan of the thin pitas, and I loved the couscous our Tajin came with. The meats, fruits, and veggies were all quite tasty.

First time here. They serve the 10 course dinner and then we got the hookah after. It was really enjoyable to sit with friends and enjoy something different than you average dinner at some corporate restaurant. The servers were very good and helpful and mentioned that the chef has been here for 15 years.

Why have I never written a review for Couscous? Absolutely terrific food at this BYOB and hookah bar. I would definitely recommend getting the royal feast if it is your first time there(it is also the only meal available on the weekends, $ 27). This 10 course meal is terrific. Even if you don’t want such a large meal I would recommend ordering some of the pieces of the feast. Harrira Soup(Purée Tomato, Parsley, Cilantro, Onions, Lentils And Chickpeas) is terrific. I never used to like lentils, but Couscous has convinced me of their deliciousness. Salad Sampler(Ginger and Stewed Carrot Salad; Chopped Cucumber, Tomato and Green Pepper Salad; And A Roasted Eggplant Pâté). If you are just getting a snack, I would recommend this. I like to mix all three salads together with some bread. Very fresh tasting. Chicken Bastill: this is a powdered sugar, flaky pastry. I am a meat eater, but I usually ask them to substitute the vegan Bastilla for the chicken. The chicken one has been fdry for me in the past, he vegan one has raisins and and is usually moist. Moroccan Lemon Chicken: fall off the bone chicken with delicious flavor. It is served with olive and would make a great entrée on it’s own. Sirloin Beef Kabob: this is the part of the feast that I enjoy the least. There is a smokey flavor to the beef, but the dish is a bit flat to me, might be better served as a pita sandwich. Stewed Lamb with Honey and Almonds: FANTASTIC! The honey and almonds work so well with the lamb. One of the best tasting lamb dishes that I have ever had. Couscous with Vegetables: A delicious and simple dish, the tomato broth(sauce?) that the dish is served with goes so well with the couscous, I could eat this every day. Although, I do prefer the tofu tajin. It is the same dish with shredded tofu added on top. The texture of the shredded tofu and couscous balance so well together. If I am not in the mood to get a gigantic feast, I will usually order this dish. For dessert with the feast you get Moroccan Fruit Salad, Cashew Baklava, and Mint Tea. The fruit salad was good, it has rose water in it, and I will definitely be adding rose water to the next fruit salad that I make. The baklava wasn’t the best that I’ve had, but I will never turn down baklava. Mint tea is fine and goes well with the shisha. Hookahs are pretty pricey($ 25 for up to 3 people with $ 5 charge after that), but is isn’t so bad with a few people. Service has been hit or miss for me. When it is good, it is really good, when it’s bad it is apologetic at least. They have recently updated the wallpaper, making the place a bit brighter than it used to be. Make sure you make a reservation(any day of the week), as this place is small and once people sit down at a table, you can be pretty sure they will be there until close.

We decided to drop by the Barclay Farms complex to see what they had to offer for dinner on a weekday, saw Couscous, and thought, «Mmm, Moroccan! Haven’t had THAT deliciousness in a while!» We sat down in a dimly lit space that smelled of sweet hookah. The food was excellent and delicious, but I supposed that they expect most customers to indulge in hookah to pass the time, because it seemed at bit slow to come out. Maybe our server was new, though. It was a weekday, after all, so they probably weren’t planning on having a lot of customers. The place certainly seems as though they intend for customers to smoke hookah; the«tables» are more like couches surrounding knee-height coffee tables. Prices for portions were well done. Great place to share food. I loved the Moroccan salad sampler and the couscous dishes. The salmon tajine was great, moist, pink with just a bit of char on the edges. The salad sampler came in varying levels of pickled-ness, but each dish was distinctly different from one another. There were three dishes, including a spicy eggplant pâté, vinegar-marinated chopped soft carrots, and cucumber & onion Greek-style lemoned-vinegared-olive oiled salad. We really loved the Harrira soup that came with our entrée! Had I known how much I would have loved that spiced tomato goodness, I would have ordered TWO servings! Well ventilated, which is important considering it’s a hookah bar. We didn’t smoke, but the next day, our throats were a bit sore. On the real, Moroccan food isn’t the most common in these parts, and the quality was delicious in spite of the wait. Check it out if you want some quality couscous and tajine.

HOOKAHREVIEW: Pricey. You should expect your bill to be around $ 17-$ 25 per person. Of course it’s more if you want better shisha. Also, they take forever to change your coal! The atmosphere is nice though. Also they have great ventilation. Make sure you reserve in advance! They do have belly dancers, I’m not sure if it’s every night though…(all of them are nothing above average looking though). Call & find out! The shisha: nothing special. It’s not harsh, it’s not the most flavorful either. Average. Overall, you can come here once in awhile, it gets pricey if you come here often though. Also, make sure you reserve to avoid delays.

Interior was a nice surprise; very well decorated and cozy. We were the first ones to get there for dinner, and our waiter was very accommodating and attentive. We first ordered two iced teas, which were deliciously fresh. The harrira soup(tomato, parsley, onions, lentils, chickpeas, cilantro) with a squeeze of fresh lemon was an explosion of flavor. We ordered the appetizer sampler which included Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Tabouli, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Marinated Feta And Falafel. Everything was very fresh and the flavors were vibrant. The waiter recommended the honey lamb, which my date said was very good, and I thought my couscous with lamb was absolutely delicious. My chunks of lamb were spiced perfectly and fork tender, atop a delicious bed of couscous and roasted vegetables. We will definitely make the trip back, as it was a very nice experience. I recommend giving them a try!

We were looking for an «alternative» place to eat with some friends and thought the hole middle eastern thing was a good idea. We made a good choice!!! Cous Cous has a nice atmosphere. It’s small and intimate and the seating is comfortable and plenty spacious. We brought some beer and wine and the server was excellent in preparing it for us. The service was excellent all night long. One of the best waiters I’ve ever had. We had a multi-course meal highlighted by some amazing soup, lemon chicken and a fantastic lamb that was very tasty and well prepared and presented. With the exception of an extremely loud and large party seated next to us, the experience was appropriately quiet. Our only negative was the seemingly out-of-place belly dancer, who emerged on two occasions from the kitchen area to shake her hips and look uninterested. She wore a look on her face that screamed discontent and seemed like she would have rather been elsewhere. A delicious meal — highly recommended.

I’ve been coming to this place for a few years now and never thought to Unilocal about it until my last visit a few weeks ago. I had really good service and the food I had was way better than I expected. I was waiting to meet friends and decided to get the lentil soup because I was starving. Wow! Really impressive and hot and comforting. They’ve upgraded their menus, and hopefully the same will happen with the furniture soon. Our waiter was really attentive and that makes a big difference. My friends and I had a great time and we all thought he did his part in making sure we had everything we needed the entire time.

Pretty good. The half chicken with lemon sauce was unbelievably moistt and yummy($ 18 with enough to take home a second meal for lunch the next day). Appetizer sampler suitable for 2 or 3 people and enough variety for everyone’s tastes($ 16). Honey lamb was a big hit with everyone remarking on how un-gamey it was. The philo dough wrapped chicken went un-enjoyed by all due to its dryness, prompting one of us to ask«anybody want more powdered chicken?» Décor was suitably middle eastern but could use a quick spruce up. The front desk seemed to tilt precariously to one side and some drywall patches awaited completion in the hallway to the restrooms. staff was attentive and since it was a birthday party they tolerated the belly dancer we brought with us. We didn’t do the hookah bar but a neighboring table seemed to be enjoying their hookah as they bemusedly looked on at our antics. A nice night enjoyed by the entire party of twenty.

This place is passable as a Moroccan joint. The décor is pretty low-budget but it fulfills the middle-eastern vibe you’d expect from a hookah bar/restaurant. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately thats the extent of the positives. On paper this place looks great. A hookah bar? Cool! A Belly dancer? Why not. A live DJ? Sweet. A 10 course ROYALFEAST? OHHELLYES. Don’t get too excited though, for things are not as they seem. The hookah bar fulfills its role, the shisha is a bit expensive($ 20 – 25) but the waiter was pretty generous with it so I’ll let that go. The belly dancer though is quite the trip. We were there over the course of 4 hours, from 7 – 11, and the dancer came out twice for 10 minutes each. Sure she danced with a sword for part of that time, but COMEON, if you are advertising belly dancing in big capital letters I’d expect a bit more. The DJ however was as promised, and he played, and he played, and he played. Think loud trance music, nothing middle-eastern mind you, just trance music. LOUD. Now I’ve been known to get down every now and then, and I enjoy the trance, but when you are trying to chill out with a hookah by your side its not what you want to hear. And finally we come to the royal feast. On Fridays and Saturdays, as mentioned by previous reviewers, you are required to order the feast, you have no choice in the matter. Again, on paper the feast sounds amazing. For 25 dollars you get 10 courses, thats a sweet deal by any standards. Unfortunately the sad reality is it is not 10 courses at all. A few of the dishes are combined into 1 dish. So even though the baklava is separate from the fruit salad on the menu it is in fact just a small pastry that sits on top of said fruit salad. But hold on, it gets even better. 3 of the main courses of this feast are combined on 1 plate. So instead of 3 separate savory delicious dishes you have a plate with a couple sausage bits, 5 or 6 pieces of lamb, a few veggies and a sprinkling of couscous. FOR4PEOPLE. Thats right, the real kicker was we had 4 people who had ordered the feast and we shared 1 central plate. So in reality that small plate of meats and vegetables had 12 courses on it. It blows the mind, really it does. On the plus side, the food had substance to it, and even with the small portions it was rather filling and tasted fine. I should also mention that based on the quick turnaround and lack of heating I suspect the food was cooked in advance, although I have no way of confirming that. Overall it was an OK experience. Not horrible, not great. But I do wish they would be clearer on what they are offering, I feel on some level that they misrepresented their menu.

Great place that offers cool atmosphere, good(and very reasonably priced) food and amazing deserts! The King’s Feast sampler-style 10 course meal is simply outstanding! On Friday and Saturday there is a belly dancer which is definitely interesting and you can always shop at the little store next to the restaurant to bring home some goodies…
