Very disappointed. I ordered over the phone and got a price; my husband picked up the food and we were charged much more. I’d like to believe it was because the owner spoke very little English. Rice was overcooked and lacked salt.

there are a lot of vacant spaces in the plaza known as «nimmonsburg square», and i have a feeling that China Star may soon be one of them. i went in recently and they told me my order would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes and it took over 20, and i was the only customer. i ordered a general tsos lunch special and a pupu platter and it was pretty obvious that they were cutting corners the general tsos chicken wasn’t too bad, it seemed to have a bit of a kick to it, which i actually liked. unfortunately this was the smallest lunch combo i have ever been served, most places fill the whole container with chicken and pork fried rice, this was not the case here, it was only about ¾ of the way full, and the menu said it came with soup, an eggroll, or can of soda, neither of which were offered to me. they didn’t even include a fortune cookie with my meal! the pork fried rice tasted alright but there was very little meat in it, i think i counted 4 pieces of pork. the pupu platter was probably the worst one i’ve ever had. the fried wontons were horrible, very little meat and the shell was super dry and hard to eat. the«beef on stick» was the only good thing about the platter. also, every pupu platter i’ve ever had has included ribs, but not China Star. the spring rolls didn’t have a very good texture either, and the chicken wings were very boring, there was no flavor to them and they were pretty dry. it’s weird that there are 2 places in binghamton called China Star. the one on Pennsylvania ave on the south side is great, one of my favorite places, but the upper front street one isn’t worth your business, i won’t be back.

Nothing spectacular, but food was good. I had General tsos tofu, sauce was sweet and had a lil bit too much tang from the vinegar. Veg fried rice was good, veggies tasted fresh. Hour and sour soup was ok, but heavy on the soy/salt taste. Hubby had his usual, sweet n sour chicken with pork fried rice which was a really small portion of rice for a combination platter. The chicken had a nice crisp, and only some had an excess of breading. Overall, not a bad experience, but not the greatest either. There is room to order take out with seating to wait. Adjacent Dining area to dine in, nothing fancy… Kids at back table, but polite and not annoying in any way. I was here, just passing thru in the way home from Niagara Falls, not sure if I would come back as I would probably try other restaurants in the area or along rt.81 I almost forgot, most Chinese restaurants give u the crispy noodles with the dipping sauce… They didn’t give us any. No crispy noodles for my hot and sour soup either…

Nice and clean atmosphere. The menu has some unique items that you will not find at the average Chinese restaurant.

Family operated, friendly and clean. No complaints about the food. Dining area is usually empty. Service is just like home.

I used to go here all the time and the food was great. Since they changed owners/operators the food has gotten worse each time I went. The last time I went there the food was inedible. I won’t be going back.

Excellent delivery service, fresh food. Kung Pao shrimp was very tasty, as was the vegetable lo mein, broccoli & shrimp, and the won ton soup. Good.
