I was back in Binghamton visiting family during August. The weather was ideal and I wanted to go swimming. I nixed the idea of a public pool and remembered going to State Park back when I was a teenager growing up in the area. There’s a $ 7 daily entry fee per car which is quite reasonable. You can get a yearly pass for $ 65 that is good for all NY state parks. The park is clean and the swimming area was great. There’s a diving board and a large area to do laps if you want your exercise. The park has camping areas and cabins for rent. If I lived here this would be a nice place to spend a weekend. There’s a lot of trails for hiking and row boats and kayaks are available for rent at the lake. There’s also a golf course within the park. Overall it’s a nice park in the area not to far away from downtown Binghamton(11 miles). If I lived in NY I’d shell out the $ 65 for yearly pass as there’s many gorgeous parks in the upstate region.
