About as close to home-style dining in Mexico that you’re going to be able to find in Boston. The dishes are Mexican staples, and they are generous with the portions, and inexpensive to boot. On the weekend afternoons they have live mariachi music, so if you want a quieter atmosphere you might want to come at another time. I can’t vouch for the alcohol selection, since I’m not a beer drinker, but the food on the two times I have been here has been great, service attentive but not intrusive, and the price is easy on your wallet. Nothing fancy, but good food, good service, and worth the bus ride across the Mystic River Bridge.

This is a solid, festive joint. Very baby/kid friendly, from the balloons on the street to the bright Mexican high chairs to the boisterous Mariachi band, all super captivating to my baby. I had a pupusa and some fried platanos, they were perfectly decent. I loved the atmosphere most of all and would totally come here again next time I’m in Chelsea, which is maybe never.

Yummy! Have been here twice. The food is fabulous. The décor is colorful and fun and the staff is really nice. Had the pupusas and different tortas. Great shop/bakery connected to restaurant. Can’t wait to try the molcajete! Across the street from Chelsea Theatre Works/Apollinaire Theatre Company. See a show and then hit this great restaurant. Lots of artists/musicians who used to live in Somerville and Cambridge have relocated to Chelsea and Everett.

Malísima la atención la comida mala y OJO tengan cuidado con su cuenta porque si escuchas el mariachi te lo cobran directamente a tu cuenta. De verdad yo creo que eso es desicion del cliente si quieres aportar o no al mariachi… Simplemente NOREGRESAMOS…

I never go home unsatisfied when I leave here. The food is always so incredible, great quality ingredients that make everything so good. I always tend to get steak and it never disappoints. Steak tacos, burrito or the Mexican sandwich it’s always cooked to perfection. The beer selection is always great they feature most of the Mexican and few Central American beers so it is tons to choose from. At night time they have some sort entertainment, singers walking around involving everyone in the room. Very family friendly environment

Best lunch I’ve had in Boston(Chelsea) in my life. I haven’t had pupusas or tamales this good since I lived in LA. Carne Asada was excellent. I challenge anyone to find better food and better value. I WILL be back with friends and family!

As someone who loves Mexican food and lives in Chelsea. this is now our go to place. Chille Rellenos, tacos, quesadilla’s are oh so yummy! Gotta love the salsa verde and salsa roja! We have ate in and ordered out. The only issue I have with dine in is that the waitress is so busy sometimes service can be delayed. Food is great though and staff is friendly. Price is affordable compared to some other places in the Boston area.

We have eaten here several times before or after seeing a play at the amazingly under-appreciated Apollonaire theatre. Each time I say I’m going to write a review and then don’t get to it. This time I am making time to tell you: definitely go to this authentic Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant and catch a play at the intimate excellent theatre across the street. Both are the real thing at exceptionally reasonable prices.

We were in Boston today and hit a brewery in Chelsea and decided to eat here. Some locals recommended it at the brewery. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was fun. We started with papusas with cheese and loroco. I had a chicken plate with red and green peppers(pollo encebollado) and my wife had a mixed plate called Combinacion Jarocho that was also wonderful. The plates were huge, so we’re looking forward to lunch tomorrow already! Dinner with 2 beers was $ 33 for two. Awesome!

I happened across this place coming back from touring Boston. Man was the food good here. I tried the pupusa, the Al Pastor and steak tacos, the Salvadorian tamale, and a chicken in a mole sauce. We were very happy with all of it. Atmosphere 3 — It is colorfully decorated with casual relaxing décor. Service 4 — I would have given the service lower marks but given the ratio of wait staff to customers I thought our server did a good job. She was definitely at a dead sprint that night. Cost/Value 6 — This was one of the best meals I had in Boston and the cheapest. It is really cheap for what you get. Food 5 — The dishes we had were all tasty and well prepared.

I’m fond of the milanesa de pollo — breaded chicken breast that’s delightfully crispy on the outside and moist on the inside served with a large helping of rice, beans, and a small salad with pico de gallo and a dollop of guacamole. Pupusas de queso and a cold batido de mango also hit the spot. They have various specials during the week(milanesa de pollo, carne asada, $ 1 tacos, pupusas, etc.) but are closed on Tuesdays. On the weekends they have mariachi in the afternoon and karaōke at night so come during the week if you like a quieter atmosphere.

Horrible Birria soup, bones, fat and little meet. Not a good flavor. The worse part is that even if you do not eat it, you have to pay for it. I do not recommend this place, not at least for Birria. For other dishes, you might take the risk to pay for something that you dislike.

Dinner tonight was delicious. We had the Salvadorean papusas as well as a Mexican torta and thought that they were both great. We also shared some tacos de lengua, or cow tongue tacos. These were delicious and the tortillas were perfect. The staff was a bit slow, but overall it was great. The other great part of this restaurant is that it is attached to a Hispanic foods store. They have a great amount of fresh meats, cheeses, pasteries, cookies and peppers for cooking. These two put together make a great combination!

Mi Salvador & Mexicano is a slightly above average restaurant located on Broadway in Chelsea. I have been here a couple times for lunch and have been satisfied with the food. The portions are fairly large, if you finish your meal at the restaurant you will may not need to eat for the rest of the day. The prices are decently cheap, especially for the amount of food you receive. The menu has very little English on it, so you may find yourself asking the server a million questions if you are unfamiliar with the Spanish. The servers are helpful when it comes to describing the menu, but there is still some confusion and I typically find myself ordering standard dishes. The service is good. The staff is friendly but can be slow at times. I’ve found that I’ve had my longest waits while waiting for the bill. The décor is crazy. I can’t really describe all of the things they have on the walls, but it’s definitely worth it to visit and see for yourself. If you eat at Mi Salvador, you will not be disappointed in the meal, but you might find yourself a little unsettled about the overall experience.

I was really in between on this review. Our server was great, but the menus give a limited explanation on some of the dishes for non-Spanish speakers. The nonalcoholic authentic Mexican beverages were fantastic(Horchata, Jamaica, and Tamarindo) but the food was a mixed bag. Here is what we had: Tamales — We got them El Salvador style as this was the non-spicy version. They were filled with chicken, potato’s and other veggies. They were good but we found bones in the chicken in both of the tamales. Sweet Fried Plantains — Standard goodness Bistec Ranchero — While over salted it was very good. The steak came topped with something like a veggie tomato broth. It was also served with rice, beans, a small salad, and a cooked piece of cactus which was surprising tasty. Garlic Shrimp — The name of this dish was in Spanish on the menu but I can’t recall it and am too lazy to look up the translation. Much like the Bistec Ranchero it came with a standard set of sides. The garlic sauce on the shrimp was bland and worse the sauce was so liquid that spread to everything on the plate.

The food is awesome. the people are super super nice. prices are cheap, and portions are huuuuge. I came in for lunch and was quickly brought a menu, homemade tortilla chips, and awesome salsa. The menu was all in Spanish, the waitress was super nice and went through it all with me. I ordered a stuffed pepper with beef, I expected a small pepper with some beef considering it was $ 9. That would have been fine with me. Instead I got a huge plate of greeaat stuff. on one side was rice and beans, the other had a salad with an avocado. In the middle was a huge, and crazy delicious pepper stuffed with cooked ground beef smothered in a nice sauce with some cheese. SUPER. AMAZING. lunch. I can’t wait to go back. They take credit cards and the dining room has a bunch of stuff to look at as you’re chewing away on the awesomeness.
