Great local ice cream shop. Their ice cream oreo sandwiches are great and I LOVE their Jameson Irish Whisky ice cream they offer during St Patty’s season.

Gary’s just may be one of the best of not the best ice cream I have ever eaten. And I have been to a lot of ice cream places in these United States. Gary knows his craft. His ice cream is one of if not the creamiest, richest I have ever had. There are several techniques to make ice creamy. Egg yolks is one item that contributes to creamy in the making of ice cream. Maybe he uses more egg yolks. Good cream with a high butter fat content is also important to a creamy ice cream. The quality of the ingredients such as the chocolate chips, the coffee flavor in the Mocha, the fruit in the strawberry and blueberry, the rich quality of the coconut is top notch. I expect to pay more for such quality. It only makes sense the ingredients cost more. I am glad to find there is a place that does not compromise quality of ingredients. I have many favorites. The strawberry is fabulous. There are chunky bits of real strawberries and an occasional whole berry will appear! I am a chocolate walnut fan as well. I especially like his unique creations like the blueberry, made with Maine wild blueberries, yummy! As autumn approaches he now offers a pumpkin gingersnap, a wonderful combination and just as rich and creamy as all his other creations. If you like really good quality ice cream, you have to go to Gary’s.

$ 6.50 for a large ice cream with no toppings, which is at best a medium anywhere else. It also takes them a long time to fill your order, even if it’s just one ice cream. Also, no soft serve.

Kimballs without the line! Chelmsford’s hidden gem! Better than Ben & Jerry’s. I hope they never close! Wide variety of flavors with new special flavors to try all the time! The guys at the window are super nice– I was a bit under on a pint of ice cream once and the guy took from his tips to cover the rest! Really great people and very well run business! Six stars! Love you guys!

I usually frequent Gary’s Ice Cream for the Raspberry Lime Rickey. The drink tastes so good! I’ve had it at other businesses but it just didn’t taste right. I purchased the Giant Gulp size, but it seemed as though there was way too much ice in the cup. Next time I’ll be sure to say something because I pretty much let all that ice melt in the cup(it took up half the cup-mind you it’s a giant gulp. So who takes your order? Sometimes Gary(The Owner) takes your order, but usually it’s his young staff– and they’re usually very helpful and friendly.

This place is right down the street so we have been here often. The kids working are always friendly and willing to describe all the ice cream flavors to me! It’s a little pricey but I’ve found that the portions when you get a cone are hugeee so it’s worth it for a special treat! There are a ton of homemade flavors! I’ve never had there be a long line or too crowded, and there’s plenty of seating. Hidden gem!

Came here a little after dinner on a weeknight; wasn’t too crowded. They don’t have kiddie sizes here like some other places, it starts at small. Not a bad price for a small($ 4 even) but if you want a ton of ice cream then get a medium. Waited a good 5 minutes until my ice cream came. Very flavorful. The main reason I like this more than the other places(such as Kimball’s and Sully’s) is because it seems a lot less chaotic and more of a family environment. There are nice tables on a grassy hill to enjoy ice cream. It also seemed cleaner to me than other places around. I have no complaints.

I honestly give this place about a 3.5. I got a double scoop, one of chocolate chip and one of purple cow frozen yogurt in a sugar cone. The purple cow was like a blueberry flavor. The staff is friendly, and there are white benches outside for you to enjoy your ice cream if it’s a nice day out.

Gary’s Ice Cream is a great local place for some nice homemade fresh ice cream. The quality is on par with the ice cream greats around here(Ben & Jerry’s and Richardson’s) and the homemade waffle cones are some of the best in the business. Overall, you can’t go wrong at Gary’s.

I’m surprised how great the reviews here are. I’d give it one star, but I’d feel too guilty. I live about half a mile away. Last time I was there, the kid behind the counter didn’t look at me and the only think he said the price of my frappé. There were two sizes, 5 dollars and change and 7 dollars and change. I went for the 5 dollars and change and thanks to my extra thick cup, got about 50 cents worth of ice cream. The«If you turn around in my parking lot, you will be prosecuted» sign along with a sign that was something like, «No call, No Show, No Job,» were pretty uninviting. I don’t disagree with either, but I would think you’d want to appear to be friendly, and they were 0 for 3 in my experiences. Also, Sullivans and Kimballs were better or maybe they just tasted better without my sour aftertastes.

Normally I dont give ratings based on reviews, but this one warranted it! A server was handing off an ice cream to the lady in front of me and the whole thing fell onto the the crease between the inside counter and the outside counter. It was probably full of WD-40 and had never been cleaned. The server stares at the woman and after a brief awkward silence pipes up with«Um … that really … wasnt my fault?». The woman being polite took her ice cream and threw about half of it in the trash. The ice cream was fantastic. My server made the handoff so no problems there. I would recommend going there before 8pm because from 8 – 9 they seem to be frustrated that people show up.

Love it! My husband and I live in walking distance, so we sometimes take the dog for a walk down for ice cream and a chocolate shake. We get the same thing every time, so I can’t say much about other items on the menu. The chocolate shake is awesome every time. I usually get a small ice cream in a cup — every flavor I’ve tried has been great(grapenuts, mint chocolate chip, etc. they have great specialty flavors here and there, like pumkin and fig newton — both great for the record). The customer service has always been great for us — the order is always correct, the kids are polite that work there. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that it is a bit on the pricier side. We don’t go terribly often, so it’s worth it for a tasty treat in my opinion. Love this place!

You will not find a better lime rickey anywhere. ANYWHERE. Plus, homemade waffle cones! Yum. The reviewer who said the customer service was awful — I have never had a bad customer service experience here. The kids at the window who take my order and the kids who serve my order are always very polite and helpful.

I don’t know who Gary is, but he is a genius. We normally go to Bedford Farms but my husband drove by Gary’s recently and thought it looked magical, so we stopped in. It was magical. The hub got a hot fudge sundae and said it was good. I got sucked in to the fresh peach ice cream on a plain cone. And it was AMAZING. Huge portion, fresh, delicious. They even had Frosty Paws for our dog! We will absolutely be back to Gary’s, not only for the friendly service and delicious ice cream, but because the crowds were nowhere near those of Bedford farms.

Cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone with a lemonade. I guess that’s all I can say.
