Was very disappointed in this place! Was expecting the same great atmosphere & food like the one we visited in Tampa Florida but the service was absolutely horrible! Took forever for us to get service which I would understand if the place was crowded but it was almost empty when we arrived. Once we ordered our drinks my wife ordered a rum drink that was disgusting! There was so much grapefruit pulp in the drink she couldn’t enjoy it! Once I got my food I ordered the Steak Med rare & it was cold & the steamed broccoli was hard as a rock! Others in our party had the same issues with there food as well! Finally we asked for our checks so we could leave the god awful place & it took 45 minutes to get our damn checks! Needless to say we will never be going back there & I will make sure everyone that I know will never go to this place as well!

We walked in very late in the night, there was a band playing, unfortunately I did not catch the name but they played joyfull songs, couple guys were dancing up front right by the stage. It was cool . Our server was a nice, polite and engaging gal, I started off with an old fashioned rye, it was great and an amber to follow, oops let me correct myself I ordered both together:) great combination . I got chicken wings. Did not take long to get food despite the fact that place was crowded and lots of people were ordering late night foods. Btw they serve 5PCS of chicken on order . Overall I had great time and totally recommend this place, I will defiantly stop by if come back to Charlottesville.

Highly recommend the shrimp tacos with fries. It was outstanding, I haven’t even left yet and I want to come back!

Hard to review a place when you stand in the door 10 minutes(probably longer) without the staff even acknowledging you’re there. When it’s a Saturday, and the home team is on tv, maybe schedule more than 3 people to work?

This would be a great place to watch games, except for the very, very, very loud band. Intolerably loud. Please, no bands when your restaurant is packed with people who want to watch football. I highly doubt we will be back.

Local friends of ours brought us here for dinner & beers when we came up for a visit & we had a great time. It’s a joke that they’re intimidated to bring a Unilocaler to their favorite spots, but they did good! We arrived around 6pm on New Years Day & I was impressed to see an establishment that was still honoring their happy hour on a Friday & a holiday! They had multiple boozy beverages, beers, & yummy apps to choose from until 7pm. I believe their happy hour also starts back again after 9pm. Our friends put in an order for their famous soft pretzel & fried pickles for us to share while we looked over the long beer menu. It was tough making a decision on a brew, so many to choose from! Every type was represented. The apps came out quick & that pretzel was glorious in all of it’s buttery-soft goodness. The cheese dip & mustard was a delicious pairing. They have a yummy looking menu with different items to make anyone happy. I went with the regular size flatbread. It was topped with steak, blue cheese, sautéed onions, arugula, & a balsamic glaze. It was delish & I was even sad sharing a piece with my hubby. The rest of the table ordered reubens with a side of their apple & kale slaw. Service was friendly & knowledgable & the food was great. I wish we had one in VB!

I didn’t think I was going to like this place as it is a bit of a walk off the normal UVA corner. And it was well worth the walk. A clean upscale brew pub. Similiar to a capital ale house in richmond or Sedona in cville and richmond. Not high end upscale but clean and well appointed interior with moderate prices. Not your typical UVA corner dive bar. They had a good crowd on Saturday night but not overly crowded. A good amount of tables available as the large outdoor patio with heaters was open. Very good beer and drink selection. We had appetizers and they were all very good(meatballs, wings). I don’t give out 5 stars except places that really impress me and this one did.

Finger food is ok and there’s a decent selection of beer on tap, but everything is pricey and happy hour deals are insignificant. Expect $ 6 – 7 for standard local drafts. Other than the location and selection there are few redeeming factors.

Had a really enjoyable experience at WOB this afternoon. The outdoor patio is very comfortable and a perfect place to enjoy nice weather while having beer/food. My dad and brother had beers which they enjoyed while my mom and I had peach sangria which was great. We nibbled on brat wurst sliders and loaded tater tots. The tater tots were delicious and I know that if nothing else I’ll be back at WOB to enjoy the patio and tots.

I have been to WoB a handful of times and have always enjoyed myself. They have large TVs over the bar, so it is the perfect place to root for your favorite sports teams. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. They have an awesome beer selection, as they should with a name like World of Beer. They change their beer list frequently, so you can try something new every time you stop in. Often times though, they are out of beers on the list, so be sure to ask your server before selecting something to drink. I’ve been here on a weekend night, and it gets totally packed, so expect long waits for table service. I’ve also been here for dinner during the week a few times. When I sat at the bar, I had great service. When I sat out on the patio, the server had a hard time keeping up with his smaller tables while waiting on a very large party. So, depending on the day, service can be hit or miss. I’ve tried the chipotle chicken sandwich with tater tots, and it is pretty standard bar fare. The tavern taters are a huge portion that you can split with friends. As a beer lover, I’ve always enjoyed my experience at WoB!

World of Beer hasn’t done very well on Unilocal, and I can’t help but suspect it has something to do with the fact that it is a chain in a city that ADORES local food spots. Still, my experience justifies a much higher rating. They have spacious seating indoors and out, with a small overhang to pull your table under if you’re outdoors and it rains. The crab cakes with kale and apple slaw is surprisingly fresh and complex for a beer spot. The pretzel with mustard is a predictably delicious accompaniment to a good beer. Servers are very dog-friendly and always offer a bowl of water for my pup. Go and check out a game, or just some new beers.

Context: It was my first time in Charlottesville and we needed a place where non-college kids s were drinking, as we were coming from the burger spot down the road that was overtaken by them. Really enjoyed this place. It’s pretty much what they advertise — World of Beer. They had dozens on tap and in cans and bottles. I ended up getting the Local Flight, which was a great way to sample Virginia Beer — had everything from stout to wheat. The best part and most surprising part about this place was the menu app they had. They have iPads laying around where you can find beers by category, name, location, etc. When you tap on a beer, it gives you a brief explanation — history, where it comes from, what it tastes like, and how strong it is. My party was able to find some surprise beers that we really enjoyed. If you’re around, try the Dogfish Pumpkin. I don’t like pumpkin beer, but this one I could roll with.

First time inside this place after hearing great reviews about it from different friends. A HUGE selection of beer on tap AND a large selection of bottled beer. Fun atmosphere, perfect spot to catch a game on their many tv screens. Next time I’ll have to order some food.

To say they have an expansive beer selection at World of Beer is a bit of an understatement; in fact, it can be kind of intimidating if you don’t know a whole lot about beer. I had a stout beer and a lager beer and both were quite good, so if you aren’t the adventurous type, stick with what you know. I had fried pickle chips, which were a good balance of salty and fried without being too greasy or too heavy. I also had the Chimay Burger, which was pretty good. Neither were anything you’d go out of your way to get, but they were prepared very well. The exterior seating is very nice, especially the lighted fire pit areas. With a ton of TV screens, this is a great place to watch the game. If you’re a beer aficionado, this is probably your place. While I am not, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This is a great addition to Charlottesville and we were really happy to find it on our walk to downtown. This was my first time at a World of Beer and it can be a bit overwhelming, but the menu has it divided up into type of beer and says where it’s from, so that was useful and helped me decide on what I wanted to drink. We were there on a Friday night and there was live music which was cool, but it made it very loud inside. We sat on the patio which is big and really nice. You could enjoy the live music going on inside and still hear the people you were sitting with. The beer was good and the servers kept checking on us. My friend had his dog on the patio and one of the servers brought the dog a bowl of water which was really nice. On the patio they have a huge Jenga set which was cool and we saw a few groups playing. Some groups got a bit rowdy, but I guess that’s what you get in a college town.

Amazingly Patrick remembered me(from maybe two visits?) To his previous bar and welcomed me with open arms. In addition to his shockingly good bartender name recall I was impressed with his beer blurbs that came at a moments notice. Tonight I showed up and got an unadvertised restaurant week special in lieu of the pretzel that had been my plan a. I picked the salad that was dressed with a raspberry lambic as it sounded the most interesting. It was done in a small plate style and came out reasonably balanced with a good combination of goat cheese and a little crunchy stuff I followed up with the(strangely labeled?) Steak frites which came out well with a bit of spice. I busted out the vinegar they had hiding because I have a certain love of beach fries. Very happy For dessert I got some caramelly rings that I enjoyed quite a bit. Overall I had a good time and a good meal. I always do: D

Why travel to northern Virginia when you can visit Northern Virginia in Charlottesville? The world of beer is fine for a beer. It has a great selection of beer, and the staff seem knowledgeable about beer. The food, on the other hand, is just average. The fish and tots were okay but nothing special. The pizza was similarly bland. The stand out on the menu was certainly the pretzel. Very good. Good service, good beer, fair to below-average food. Décor is very strip mall. Parking is very confusing if existent.

First, the parking lot across the street is not parking for this place and people are aggressively ticked and towed for parking there. They do have parking, it’s in a lot behind the restaurant-you find it by driving around the block. I really liked this place, we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Had an awesome bartender that told us all about the endless drafts on tap and the infused beer they had on. We were able to sample a few so we knew we found the right draft for us-which I always appreciate. They have a lanai style patio area that is a very comfortable spot to relax and have a pint or a bite to eat.

This is one of the worst WOBs ever. 1. Female Bartender was not knowledgeable. 2. Male bartender’s breath smelled like cigarette smoke: get some gum 3. Pretzel salt all over the bar and 3 chairs when I walked in. Asked the female bartender to please wipe out off and she looked at me like I was speaking Japanese. 4. Good luck cashing out: it will take forever. They will mess up. *I have over 600 points. I expected more because I’ve come to expect more at the 11 WOBs I’ve been to before.

A sad excuse of an establishment. Run by a team of morons, this bar(if you could call it that) is composed of nothing more than frat boys and mothers. The service is subpar at best and their beer selection is overrated. We got there around 5pm and left around 7pm last week. If you are a self-respecting adult(or student), do yourslf a favor and spare yourself the walk to this place. Stick to the corner or head to Beer run downtown. The staff is rude and is apathetic to most of our requests. A simple ask for changing a side salad with my meal was met with wonder and amusement, as if the young man had never heard of anyone switching sides. Just for fun, ask the girl(or guy) about the beers they serve. Sit back and watch him(or her) make a fool out of themselves. Dear owner, do this town a favor and shut your doors. This is the defenition of a failed establishment.
