Roger did an amazing job on our drywall repair. We added recessed lighting to the main level of our house, leaving over 30 holes in the ceiling and walls where wires were run. Roger was able in 1 day to patch all of the holes, as well as repair a larger opening in the ceiling where plumbing was replaced. Terrific communication from start to finish. Quality work.

I can not give enough positive feedback to adequately cover the amazing experiene we had working with Roger! I have worked with several carpenters/​contractors and handymen in the Charlottesville area and have always felt under-​served and over-​charged. Roger was the polar opposite. He was beyond professional, knowledgable, considerate, well-​priced and easy to work with. He went above and beyond in EVERY SINGLE AREA without being asked and expected no compensation in return. We hired him to complete a bunch of projects such as drywall repair, painting, exterior trim replacement etc. in preparing our house for sale. His work was done quickly and beautifully. He bent over backwards to accommodate our time-​frame which meant working evenings and on lunch breaks from other jobs. He even rushed over at the last minute one afternoon for a «touch up» before a showing. He was utterly respectful of our space and our time. This included carefully placing tarps to protect all furniture and counters as well as vacuuming and cleaning after his work was completed. The bottom line is that Roger Dalcin is the best!

Found Roger on Unilocal though I was not sure if he served the Charlottesville area (we are glad that he does). We got into a drama with our shed sitting on a builder’s lot (it was all wooded area when we bought the house almost 10 years ago). We needed to have a base built before the shed could be moved. After a few tries, I was able to talk with Roger (he moved phone provider and was not set up properly to leave a message). He understood our needs and tried to find the most economical way to get the job done. He took the time to walk me through options. After the base was built, my tenant wanted a large ramp built so he could move his riding lawn mower up and down. Roger already built a small ramp for the shed. He had to tear down the small ramp and built a larger one. We are out of town owners but the communication with Roger was not a problem. He is smart and understood the problem. He could communicate effectively and allowed me time to ask questions. He does use email which is great for me to see pictures and get information better explained in writing. He was flexible to accommodate changes at the last minute and additional small jobs. He even had sympathy for us to be in this pickle and did not charge us labor for taking down the small ramp.
I hope we don’t need to use Roger and his company again soon but if we have repair/​maintenance needs, I will contact him again.

We found Roger’s business card on our garage right before we were about to hire someone else to install our hardwood floors. We decided to have him give us a quote. When he dropped by and consulted with us about the project we instantly liked his attention to detail and the suggestions that he made as well as being a very nice guy. We hired Roger (and his son) and they did such a great job that we had them stay on another week to paint the whole house. Roger made the whole process easy and gave us a lot of value for the price. This is top notch skilled work. Highly Recommended!!!

I needed a small job done, and by coincidence I came home one day to find Roger’s card on my porch. I usually throw those in the trash (we get a lot of those!), but I’m glad I didn’t do that this time. Roger came out to inspect the repair, and I was really surprised at his reasonable rates. The job was small enough that I could have done it myself, but for the rate Roger charged, I couldn’t have done it better in either cost or quality.
Roger works efficiently, but in the short time he was at my home I got to know Roger pretty well. More impressive to me, however, was how well he got to know me and my family. We try not to break too many things in our house, but if we do, I know who we’ll be calling again.

When we bought our home 6 years ago, the previous owner recommended Roger highly. Roger had redone the kitchen, bathrooms, waterproofed the basement and painted the house. Six years and many house projects later (designing/​finishing the basement, creating storage spaces, fixing cracks, plastering ceilings, installing crown molding, painting, etc.) we recommend him without reservations.
Aside from being a talented craftsman, Roger is very professional. His rates are reasonable, his work is always finished on time and within budget. He is extremely neat (and cleans up daily), and he always keeps us updated on his progress. As another reviewer mentioned, he goes the extra mile such as organizing our junk etc. He is also an amazingly good listener, helping us articulate and think through ideas and designs. Always in good humor, he is very patient with his customers — even as we change our mind along the way! As he says, his goal is for his customers to be satisfied.
Roger became known among our neighbors, who called him for projects both large and small. He will be greatly missed!

We hired Roger to install our hardwood floors and redo the stairs in our Philadelphia rowhome, which included replacing the treads and risers and replacing half walls with a banister and spindles. We had purchased a 100+ year old home and nothing was square/​level, and things just got worse as we dug in (i.e all the original hardwoords had been replaced with linoleum/​plywood subfloor). Roger did a fantastic job with the work. The floors look gorgeous and like they belong to the house. He made careful adjustments (and even rebuilt a stair landing) so that the result looked perfect. He is a true craftsman and I cannot believe how fortunate we were to find him. He made very good suggestions, crafted creative solutions when necessary, his quoted price was reasonable and he stuck with his estimate. He was a pleasure to work with. My only complaint is that he moving to Charlottesville so we won’t have him around for future projects.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! It’s hard to explain in words just how fantastic Roger is – at his trade and as a person. I came to know Roger through Unilocal while looking for someone to work on my basement. It was neither a fancy nor fun job and I didn’t have a ton of money to spend, so it was difficult to get someone to sign on to do it. In fact, my regular «guy» who worked with me on various projects for 3 years wouldn’t even give me a quote for it!
From the moment I met him, Roger has been nothing but professional and courteous. He came to my house, gave me a fair quote in a timely manner, and proceeded to exceed all my expectations. He not only scraped/​vacuumed/​repaired/​sealed the basement, but he alerted me to other issues to watch out for that didn’t need to be fixed right now. Roger did some additional things to make that area of my house more user friendly and then rearranged all the junk (and random family member’s boxes and furniture that was down there) in a way that he thought would be easiest for me to access it. I couldn’t be happier.
Roger has since completed several smaller projects around my home. His work is impeccable. He treated each little job the same way he treated whole house renovations — do the best work at the best price for the best outcome for the homeowner. He’s truly a one-​of-​a-​kind gem. I’m sad to see him leave the area, but am SO happy for all of you in and around VA — you have no idea how lucky you are going to be when you hire Dalcinco!!!
