La Cabaña is a little deli-style restaurant serving simple but tasty Central American(mainly Salvadorean) food. They have several typical, home-style dishes prepared and ready to serve including roasted chicken, a couple of different kinds of stewed meats including hilachas(a very popular Central American dish made of shredded skirt steak stewed with tomato, onions, tomatillo and green chiles), as well as pupusas, empanadas, and pan-fried fish. What I have tried from their weekday offerings has all been quite good, if not spectacular or fancy, and very much like what I grew up eating as a kid In Guatemala. It is also inexpensive, and about $ 6 gets you a generous serving of rice and meat + vegetables, plus a couple of thick hand-made corn tortillas. There are a couple of small tables, but it is mainly a deli-style place meant for take-out. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area and looking for something a little bit different.
