The Booty Loop… Usually when you mention it for the first time, you get some pretty weird looks and double takes, but it has definitely cemented itself into Charlotte(in a good way). I first found out about the Booty Loop after hearing of the 24 Hours of Booty cycling event that happens once a year to raise $$ for cancer research. The Loop is approximately 3 miles in length and is located in the Myers Park area — right around Queens University. What is so great for cycle enthusiasts is that the Booty Loop is a pretty well known«riding area» so the cars are used to seeing cyclists. I usually park at the church parking at the intersection of Providence and Queens — the lot is reserved on Sunday mornings for church patrons, but if you get there most of the weekdays, you will see cyclists, runners, walkers, dogs, and people just coming out to keep active. The loop goes down Queens/Selwyn… right on Queens till the East/Kings Dr intersection… right on Queens /Granville Rd and then a right onto Hopedale to take you back to the Providence and Queens intersection. Every now and then, I still get lost in this area seeing how the street names change and the roads loop. I’ve heard rumors that the roads were designed like this to keep«touristy folks» out of the neighborhood. I’ve lived in Charlotte for going on 17 years now and I STILL get lost here… guess their original intention works(if that is the case). With the tall trees and expansive homes, it makes for a nice riding/running/walking spot in the city.
