The technician arrived promptly on time and spent about 15 minutes inspecting the gas pack. After inspecting, he claimed he had«bad news» for me. The bad news was that I needed a new gas pack because the front heat exchange piping was cracked/rusted in addition to two faulty limit switches. I asked him to show me the issues and explained that I had a large expensive part replaced a few years back but couldn’t remember the name of it(turns out later it was my heat exchange). He showed me a little bit of rust but no cracks. At no time did he show me the heat exchange. He then turned off the gas supply to the unit because he cautioned it could explode or carbon monoxide could get in the house if the heat was run. I then paid him the $ 99 fee and he said he would send an estimate for a new unit the next day. Seeing as a new gas pack is anywhere from $ 5−10k I decided to get a second opinion. The other company came out promptly and did a thorough inspection. The result was that the heat exchange is in like-new condition and absolutely no cracks. The unit is safe, in good working condition and should last for years. This company was even able to sand off a little rust on the limit switches and charged me for nothing. I then contacted Air Maxx to let them know what happened and that I was highly disappointed. They responded promptly via email that they take these situations very seriously and would make it right. The next morning one of the owners came out to verify the technician’s findings. The owner verified that the OTHER company was right and that there is no reason to replace the gas pack. I couldn’t believe that this could have potentially cost me THOUSANDS and I asked for some kind of explanation. The explanation I was given was that the technician is «new and over-reacted». I do not think it is acceptable for a company to send out techs that are not trained properly. Needless to say, I will not be utilizing Air Maxx in the future(even though the owner took a few pieces of my gas pack with him) and I even had to ask for the $ 99 refund(they did not offer) since they technically didn’t perform any services and I was told inaccurate findings. I was told that a refund was issued on 9⁄25 but as of today, I still have not received. I will update this if I get a refund. Received refund 10⁄1.

Mike came out and did some work on my Trane gas pack heating and air unit this month. Found there was no Freon in the system, even though I had another company w/the BBB servicing my unit and they had been out the previous week. The unit had ice in it and was frozen. Also he found the UV light was improperly installed. We had to wait unit the next day and let the ice melt. He returned the next morning and completed the work. I called the owner of the other unit and he came back out and reinstalled the UV light. This company is prompt and honest. I have a new HVAC company now. It is sad that there are companies with A+ ratings with the BBB that are scamming people.
