The clam chowder is quite good, one of the best, the staff is really kind and atmosphere is cozy. Pretty classic, i would recommend it for a brunch.

I have only good things to say about The Warren Tavern! Great folks, even greater food and an easy walk in Charlestown. We tried Fish & Chips; onion rings; Fenway egg rolls. All were excellent! Highly recommend this historic restaurant!

I’d have loved to eat here too last night but much like the fiasco with Sweet Rice, they too couldn’t be bothered to serve me. I got a menu and a table, and U waited. And waited. And waited. Sure it was trivia night, and I was only one person. But I was a paying customer, I tip well, and I was hungry as hell. And after this place I tried Sweet Rice with the same result. I thought maybe I was invisible until I said screw it and ordered a pizza at Papa Gino’s. I’d have much preferred a burger and a beer here. Unimpressed with Charlestown

Walked into this place after a tour of Bunker Hill. The dining area is on the left and larger bar area to the right. The dining area is very cozy and we came in on Sunday evening. It was quiet on the dining side. Food: 4⁄5 Clam chowder was thick and full of flavor. Chewy clams and hearty potatoes aplenty. Was nice and warm and definitely hit the spot. 3⁄5 Maine Crab Cakes were good but not too exciting. Mouthful of crab meat in every bite and toasted just well with a semi crunchy exterior and a excellent coleslaw to the side 4⁄5 Seafood Casserole was heavily flavored with a buttery white sauce. Scallops, haddock and scallops were juicy. Vegetable had a nice salty garlicky finish that just really did it for me. Mashed potatoes were flavorful and ok. 5⁄5 Lobster roll was excellent. Large chunky lobster pieces that melded well with the buttery roll. Every bite was heavenly and definitely worth trying again. 4⁄5 Stuffed lobster was a delight. Packed with shrimp and lobster stuffing it was an interesting melding of flavors especially when hot right out of the kitchen. The potato salad was alright but the corn on cob was amazingly sweet with the fine buttery finish. Overall will definitely go again.

Decent selection of on tap beers and a cool historic building. Mediocre bloody mary-needed some kick. I had fish and chips. Haddock came like mcnuggets. No big filet, just little fried chuncks. My mother had lobster Mac and cheese-she said it was tasty, but there was no exclamation. I had to ask.

Such a great spot! I love how old and historical they kept it. Great place to have a beer and take a break from the sites. It’s right by the bunker hill monument. I ordered the lobster roll and it was one of the best that I have ever had! They kept the old beams and there is historic art all over

Came in around 9 on a Saturday night, there wasn’t a wait for the table and luckily we got one tucked in the back and away from the loud bar. Boyfriend and I both got burgers, they were good but nothing to write home about. It’s a good option in the area but maybe not worth traveling for. I would give this more like a 3.5 stars if I could.

Came to Warren Tavern for the first time on a Sunday while adventuring through Charlestown. It’s quaint and cozy on the inside and out. Pretty crowded on the inside as it was the day before the Boston Marathon. We started with the fenway egg rolls — sausage, pepper, and cheese stuffed with a chipotle aioli dipping sauce. The table also comes with complementary garlic whole grain mustard, which is to die for!!! We slathered this all over the egg rolls. For entrees, we ordered the corn beef hash and eggs and the plymouth plantation sandwich. The eggs with the corn beef hash were unfortunately over-poached, but everything else on the plate was delicious. The plymouth plantation is a fresh, roasted turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce that also comes with a side salad(instead of fries/chips) and gravy to dip it in. Turkey was a bit dry and the sandwich was hard to handle, but also very tasty. Portions were large and reasonably priced. Suggest this place if you are in Charlestown! It’s very close to the Bunker Hill monument.

Stopped here for a quick work lunch and it was convenient, fast and cute. They have the biggest salads ever! The Southwestern Cobb is a must try and a challenge to finish. The truffle fries are delicious and the wings are good too! The tavern itself is a little dark but it’s cozy and has history to it(read the place mat).

I struggled with what to give this place, the food is really just ok, standard bar food. I have had a few food items here including fish and chips and a burger, and based on food alone would probably only give this place a 3. Service can be hit or miss, but it is a bar, so not expecting too mucgh But, as a bar, definitely more like 4 stars. They have a pretty good selection of local beers at totally reasonable prices! Great neighborhood feel, and I love the history of this place. I live nearby, so will probably be back… frequently…

Wonderful evening ruined by patrons. Had a beautiful evening out for a friends birthday and came to Warren Tavern with a rather large(11 people) group. Check came and we asked if we could split some things up. I understand, its rather annoying and we could have figured this out ahead of time — that is our fault. Waitress obliged and we wrote down our items to pay on the back of the check. I get it, it was less than fun to do, but it happened. What ruined the experience for me was how a customer somehow knew that we asked to split things up(how was that person told?) and rudely yelled across the restaurant that we «better tip our waitress well.» I was little confused and upset since that ruined a wonderful evening. The bill was rather high so of course we were going to tip her well, and added even more money for the trouble of figuring out the check. We felt bad but there was no need to tell a customer(while we were still at the restaurant) about it and then, in turn, for the customer to say something to us. If I were the manager there, that woman would have been asked to leave for causing a disturbance, but it seemed as if she was a regular and can get away with anything. Bottom line, find somewhere else to eat. Food was fine, service was fine, but the people who go to this restaurant are rude and belligerent. It is unfortunate because the restaurant was very cute and while eating I had suggested that we come back there. Unfortunately, we will never be back.

I love coming to Boston and feeling engulfed in the local culture and in the history. This is definitely a great place for both of those. The food here is pretty good and the portions are pretty big for the price. I had to get back to work so I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and the lobster mac and cheese to go. The staff was friendly and brought me water while I waited. They had plenty of repeat customers hanging around. The clam chowder was definitely the best I have ever had, but really I would expect nothing less in Boston. There were a lot of potatoes and clams in the mix. The lobster mac and cheese was creamy and abundant in lobster. The lobster was good quality and absorbed the flavor of the mac and cheese. The cavatappi noodles were well-cooked and absorbed the sauce just like the lobster. They even top it with more grated cheddar and panko. I am definitely glad I decided to stroll around and go in here! Next time I’ll have to try the bar… it was well stocked with fun ;)

Service: Devon memorized our order to perfection. It blows my mind when wait staff can remember orders without writing them down. She was fast too. Thank you! Food: I wasn’t expecting much for a «pub», but we enjoyed the Clam Chowder, French onion soup a salad and a burger. Location: It was a few minutes down the street from the Beacon Hill Monument. It’s very convenient.

Excellent place for dinner and drinks. Only problem was that it was very cramped. I could have literally eaten off my. Eight or plate. But, I suppose that’s to be expected given the age of the building. Apparently George Washington’s eulogy was delivered there. My food was excellent. I certainly recommend the clam chowder. Our waitress was super friendly. I would say this is a great place to visit if it’s your first trip to Boston.

Great place to stop for a bite while doing the Freedom Trail. Portions were good. After all I would recommend it since it fits the historic feel of the day.

After going to the USS Constitutions Museum, we were given a map and recommended this place. It came with a 15% discount. Ambiance(4 stars) Classic American bar. It is the oldest bar in It is the oldest tavern in Massachusetts. When we were there a Patriots game was on, which had a few fans cheering loudly, but nothing out of hand. Food:(4 stars) For four of us we ordered 2 large chowders(5 stars), Bacon Cheddar Burger —(4.5 stars), Tavern Wings(3 stars) they came with too much lemon and were sour. Monument Chicken(4 stars) And 1 more main meal. With 4 beers the total came to $ 100 including tax and tip. Service:(4 stars) Nothing to rave, nothing really went wrong.

I’ve eaten here several times. The service can be slow sometimes, but tonight when I went with classmates the server we had was friendly and attentive. He kept my soda glass full. My go to item here is the reuben with sweet potato fries. They always serve you more sweet potato fries than you can eat. I always love the ambience here. They seem to get a lot of regulars so it’s a very welcoming place. This time of the year the restaurant is beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations.

My 2nd visit wasn’t as grand as my 1st. The fish portion of the fish and chips made me sad. The fish was edible but rather gritty. And we ordered the parmesan truffle fries(in place of the regular fries for an extra couple bucks). They were forgotten. I didn’t care enough to hunt down our waitress in my moments of desperate I-just-worked-a-12-hour-shift hunger — though she did offer to make it right. Nah. How do you go from my sensational scallop dish to that? Bah!

Historic pub in Charlestown — perfect for grabbing a drink and bite to eat. Definitely stick with pub fare — buffalo chicken dip, club sandwich, and burgers. This is not the place to try huevos rancheros or anything super complicated.
