The owners and instructors at Pure Barre make it an incredible experience to work out here! I was impressed from the start by the feeling of warmth and enthusiasm when I walk into the studio. Everyone greets me by name! –and that’s something that truly sets each Pure Barre studio apart; it makes you feel like more than a customer – you’re a part of such a positive community! Not to mention the workout is next-level… I saw definition in my ab muscles I’d never seen before within a couple weeks of first starting classes. Getting ready for my upcoming wedding and honeymoon like a boss at Pure Barre!

On vaca in Charleston, which I love and where I want to live, and found Pure Barre online before we came. They had a great 7 day intro deal. I took my first class this morning — I was almost late and came running in, «am I too late?» Nope said Jen, owner & barre instructor & proceeded to help me get set up. The 915 am Fri class was packed, but enough room for all, I have taken barre classes for over a year but wasn’t familiar with all of the exercises but with the help of the girls next to me and some sweet correcting from Jen, I got a great workout, Honestly, I expected it to be easier than what I am used to but soon realized that the hard work was dependent on how deeply I focused & not just the class. Harder to focus when you are trying to figure out where to put your hands but I bet after a couple more classes, I will be in the Barre zone. If you live or are visiting near downtown Charleston, I highly recommend this fun studio. The only downsides to me was how crowded it was(good for them!) BUT I am spoiled by the more intimate studio I use in ATL. All in all, a good experience.

I visited this Pure Barre studio while on vacation, and it was really a nice place. Instructors were good, studio is nice and cool(temperature wise), and I had a good workout(as usual at any PB studio). I go 5 – 6 times a week in New Orleans and have dropped from a size 6 to a 0 – 2 since January, so it’s worked well for me. For anyone not familiar with Pure Barre, it’s a 55 minute mix of aerobics, weights, yoga, Pilates, stretching, and barre work. You are required to wear socks, no shoes(it’s on carpet), and clothing that covers your knees(so you don’t get rug burn) and mid-drift. The music is loud and fun, and I always feel energized and like I accomplished a tough workout when I leave.

As someone who is newish to exercise that goes beyond the scope of occasional walking and biking, I should really dislike Pure Barre– for starters, it is NOT an easy workout! You are supposed to work your muscles into a deep fatigue marked my shaking legs that have been lit by an invisible fire. It sounds like it’s all fun and games when you are told that it is a pilates/yoga/ballet lovechild, but NO. This workout will make grown women(i.e. maybe someone who is currently writing this review) curl in the fetal position at home, shortly after class. Plus, it’s a little on the pricey end(although they do offer a good first time client deal), and I wouldn’t describe myself as «in love» with the music. So why do I consider myself a fan? Because say whatever you want about the music, the people that attend(I’ve read lots of online reviews about some kind of yoga-pant-donning cult known as «Lululemon Fanatics,» which seems a little judgey to me…), the price tag, whaaaatever. THISCRAPWILLMAKEYOUFEELGOOD. You know, after the initial first couple classes where you are completely and utterly humbled, you will start noticing lil muscles you didn’t know you had, and you will start feeling strong and inspired and rad.

GREATWORKOUT!!! Be sure to go on and pre-schedule your classes because they get filled quickly. Watch for groupons or deals. I cashed in on the $ 99 unlimited month offer, and it was awesome. My favorite instructors are Martha Burton and Lindsay, but all of them are fabulous! Can’t go wrong!
